How do you romance a mermaid?

The answer definitely depends on if you are a human or a merman.

The heroine in my fantasy romance, Tears on a Tranquil Lake, is a newly turned mermaid named Ciel. She finds herself in the enviable situation of being wooed by both a smooth-talking pirate captain and a handsome merman, who she discovers to be her soul mate. Each man does his best to win her heart.

Captain Raphael showers her with gifts of finery from shops in exotic ports he visits…like lace brassieres, hand knitted shawls, sweet-smelling soaps, and lovely brooches. She can’t resist prettying up with his gifts. Sweetening his offer, he wines and dines Ciel in private candlelit dinners on deck under the moonlight. Easy to do when his head galley cook is a buccaneer gourmet and his crewmen musicians serenade them with sexy Latin tunes. Just to be sure, Raphael doesn’t hesitate to employ a tad of pirate voodoo on the lovely mermaid.

But, Ciel’s merman, Meris, connects to her soul. He delights her with wonders of the sea, coral reefs and sand castles he brings to life with his mermagic. He shows her secluded beaches, knowing just the right spots among sand dunes dotted with bright flowers for romantic getaways.

If you were a mermaid, who would you choose…a gentleman pirate or a handsome merman?

Blurb:
What a surprise for a young woman, to find herself suddenly transformed into a mermaid.

Ciel’s first thought – track down the merman who changed her and make him reverse his magic.
Unable to find him, survival in her new world becomes paramount. She eagerly accepts help from a dashing pirate captain who takes a fancy to her, lavishing her with finery. When her merman does show up, he competes for her affection. One look into his eyes makes her life more complex -- he is her soul mate.

Which man will she choose – pirate captain or merman? Which life – human or mermaid? Caribbean adventures and dangers chase Ciel as she searches for decisions and the key to her happiness.

Warning: This book contains Haitian vodou, sultry wenches, foul-mouthed scalliwag pirates, overindulgence of fine Caribbean rum, and amorous encounters on deserted beaches.

Congrats on your release! I think my answer would depend on whether or not mermaids live for ever. If so, I would've told my merman that we have all the time in the world, but the Capitan doesn't. >shrug< Or maybe not. Well, jeez...now I'm not sure who I would've picked.

Good point, Kasey. A merman lover would definitely be a new experience!

Virgina and Justine, thanks for your kind comments.

I love reading the warnings on books! Sometimes I buy them based on the warning and not the excerpt! LOL. I think I would choose a Pirate!

You know what? I live just 3 miles from the famouse mermaids at Weeki Wachee State Park, Florida. I will take a poll tomorrow to see which they would choose!!! I wonder if the warnings may color their choice.
