Do romantic movie scenes set the mood for love? By Kathleen Ann Gallagher

Madeline Young the heroine from my upcoming release, Echoes at Dawn, coming soon from Decadent Publishing, likes to unwind after a busy shift at work by watching movies. Since Valentine's Day is coming up, there's something she wants to share with you.  It's the scene from  one of her favorite movies, Out of Africa. She thinks it's positively romantic when Robert Redford washes Meryl Streep's hair by the river, as he recites poetry.  Madeline dreams of one day having a man who loves her enought to give her such a special treat.

Madeline's husband died leaving her to raise three children by herself.  She has a great job as a chef in a waterfront restaurant, but the younger men she dates lack the qualities she deserves.  Her hectic life gets busier when her eccentric mother moves in, but Katy knows what her daughter needs.  Madeline might get her wish when she meets the charismatic Nat Griffin after having an apparition.  Or will her troubles at home and his past get in the way?

Is there a scene from a romantic movie that sparks your desires?  Do you think a romantic movie scene can help set the mood for love?

Loved the description of your upcoming release. One of my favorite romantic scenes is in the movie "Moonstruck" when Cher's character meets Nicholas Cage's character at the opera...something about that scene just gets me every time:)

I'm going to give away by age now but my favorite love story is Love Story with Ryan O'Neil. Some of the scenes were even filmed in my hometown, Schenectady. NY at Union College which was a block from my home.

My husband and I were newly weds at the time and it had an emotional response on both of us!

Love Story is a touching movie. It's nice to have happy memories connected to something that is timeless. The chemistry between Ali McGraw and Ryan O'Neal in Love Story was undeniable.

I remember that hair washing scene now! Out of Africa is one of my Mom's favorite movies but I only saw it once, with her. I remember thinking that was so romantic.

Dirty Dancing has always been one of my favorites and I loved the scene when Johney said no one puts Baby in a corner.

It's hard to say if I had a SO if there would be a movie to set the mood for Vday. Imo, most of the men I've known and dated do not connect or relate a movie to setting the mood for love. However for me myself it has sparked the hope of what I want from love. The Notebook is one that no matter what I'm doing when it comes on t.v. I have to watch it

The movies mentioned are certainly at the top of the list for setting the mood for love.

Thanks, everyone! Romance is in the air!

One of my favorite romantic scenes is from the movie...with Reese Witherspoon...ugg, can't think of the name, but he makes glass from sand being electrocuted. Anyways, I love love scenes, especially ones that are built up to.

I love the ending scene of Pride and Prejudice, when Mr. Darcy is walking towards Miss Elizabeth. The sun is out. The birds are chirping. It's a lovely scene.
