Finding Inspiration

If you haven't yet seen this clip from the Ellen Show, I highly suggest you watch. TLC is launching a new show tonight called the Virgin Diaries.

I grew up in an extremely conservative small town. Many of my good friends believed in courting, instead of dating. For many of them, this meant that they had not physical contact (other than maybe hand holding) with the person they were dating until their wedding day. I may not share these beliefs, but I did find them interesting.

When I wrote Honeymoon Suite, I took my inspiration from this. My characters, Laurie and Matt, have waited until their wedding day to have sex for the first time. Unlike some of my friends, they have kissed prior to this, but their experience doesn't go much farther. For them, the night is special and is full of new physical and emotional sensations.

While I guarantee you my characters are not nearly as awkward as the ones in the video, I will also promise they are far sexier.

If you missed it, I've posted the blurb and the excerpt in other posts today.

Remember, one commenter today will win a copy of this book.

OMG!!! That was hilarious!! That was kissing!?!? As Ellen put it, a little less chewing! I've got to send send this to my friends, my husband was cracking up also.

I'm glad your characters are not THAT awkward, and thank goodness for the sexier part.

I'm still laughing!!

I nearly died laughing the first time I watched. I claim all first should be done privately in the dark. This is evidence for my case.

We are still laughing, almost 20 minutes later!!!
