The Characters in AN INDISCRETION by Lynne Marshall

Paul Valverde, the hero in An Indiscretion my latest book from The Wild Rose Press, is a slim-hipped Spanish-American who knows how to dance the rumba and Paso Doblé. Who also takes total control of his partner in many inventive ways, and is a top notch doctor at St. Stephen’s hospital in Los Angeles, despite his setbacks earlier in life.

In An Indiscretion, my current offering in the Champagne line, one of the first things the hero remembers about the heroine (they’d known each other as young teenagers) is her gorgeous red hair. See, there was a method to my ponderings. The book cover doesn’t feature this trait because Carrington Hanover, who is an RN, is wearing surgical garb – a mask and OR cap – but her beautiful blue eyes tell a story all of their own.

Carrington is happy to be a nurse. She has led a privileged life but has walked away from her father’s money after her mother dies from cancer, and vows to live within her own means. Now, her grandfather turns her life upside down when he bequeaths her a million dollars. Realizing on her wedding day that her fiancé has dollar signs in his eyes instead of love, she runs away to St. Stephen’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Here, she plans to keep secret her inheritance. A man must love her for her alone, not her money - her self-respect is in the balance. But she must work with a doctor she’d known as a teenager in cotillion classes, a boy who’d been accused of
stealing from her father - Dr. Paul Valverde.
I hope you'll consider AN INDISCRETION for the next book you read! Rating: Spicy.

I'm in love already, though you had me at the dancing. Good luck with the book!

Hi Mysti!
I fell in love with writing Paul, too! Some of the most intense scenes in the book happen during or after Paul and Carrington are forced to dance together again. :)

Thank you for reading and commenting.

This sounds like a great excerpt. I like Carrington already. She wants to make it on her own and knows that having money changes people--and changes people's intentions towards you. I hope she finds someone who loves her for her and not her money.

I like the twist on the conflict .
Usually it's the guy hiding his wealth and I like the fact that they knew each other as kids. Sometimes, those are the best foundations to build love on.

It takes a lot of courage to call off a wedding - what did you use for inspiration?

Hi Catherine - I'm so glad you understand Carrington's problem. As you know - all romances worth their salt have that one moment when the couple think "all is lost" and, well...I hope that is enough tease to tempt you to read AN INDESCRETION!

Thanks for commenting.

Hi Michelle! I agree with you totally. There is a line in the book - Paul says it: Look in the eyes. The answer is always in the eyes.

Well, long before she met Paul again, after 13 years, she looked into her betrothed's eyes and saw dollar signs. Until she'd inherited her money, she couldn't get him to commit to going on vacation together. Suddenly, his attitude changed, and thankfully, Carry discovered his true motive before it was too late.

Her ability to run away from her wedding gives Paul pause - wondering, is her running away a pattern?

I think the story feeds into that pattern.

Thanks for putting me on your TBR list!
