Vijaya Schartz
Romantic science fiction with a Kick

It’s science fiction, it’s romance, it’s action adventure, with a medieval slant, a smidgen of fantasy, in a futuristic setting. Oh my! How did I manage to write such a book? But a book wasn’t enough. BLUE LIONESS is Book Four in the Chronicles of Kassouk series.

It’s funny how things happen. I created a very complex world for White Tiger, for a particular publisher. The book was extremely well received, collected awards and five star reviews. Then that publisher closed its doors.

I submitted White Tiger to a new publisher. They wanted more, they wanted a series. So this award-winning novel became Book One of the Chronicles of Kassouk. With BLUE LIONESS, the series would now be complete. But not quite... the publisher liked these stories so much, they asked me to write the prequel (what happened before) to be released in April of 2012, titled Noah’s Ark, the name of the Human spaceship that crashed in the plains of Kassouk, bringing humanity to this far corner of the universe.

Add to this world a number of large felines kept as pets or trained for battle, a soil rich in minerals that attract intergalactic cultures bent on domination and exploitation, and you can picture the kind of conflicts that can arise in that world. Each book is also a love story with a guaranteed happily ever after (I hate depressing novels).

Oh, by the way, if you like cats, there is a cat in each and every book of mine. Not just in this series. I can’t help it. Cats rule my life. I have an entire page about cats on my website. I love the covers the Art Department at Desert Breeze came up with for the Chronicles of Kassouk series. The first cover, White Tiger, won the Quasar Award for the Best eBook Cover of 2009. They kept the same theme for all the covers, with the large cats, and they are gorgeous.

Each novel is a complete story, but readers often ask me this, and if you are like me and prefer to read series in the right chronological order, here it is:

The prequel - Noah’s Ark (2012) Obviously you can enjoy the other books before reading this one.
Book One - White Tiger (2009)
Book Two - Red Leopard (2010)
Book Three - Black Jaguar (2010)
Book Four - Blue Lioness (2011)

To date, I have fifteen titles on the shelves, one coming out in the fall, and two novels in 2012. I also write contemporary romantic suspense, and I am working on a brand new series of medieval fantasy, (post Arthurian legends) to start releasing later in 2012.

WHAT BLUE LIONESS IS ABOUT:

In the face of Human slavery, Back Sword Captain Ariela of Kassouk must do the unthinkable. Rebel against the Mutant regime. But she cannot do it alone.

Ariela suspects the king’s death is no accident. And the tyrant who usurped the throne looks guilty as hell. As leader of the Human rebellion against the Mutant rulers, Ariela is desperate for help, and Lord Starro, the handsome Crown Prince of the Star Children, offers the technology the Human faction lacks. But can Ariela trust a spoiled, arrogant foreign prince who never fought a battle, and thinks he is destined to rule the universe? Is she trading one tyrant for another? No matter how kind, handsome, or fascinating, Starro has frightening mental abilities. And this alliance is not safe, especially for Ariela’s heart.

This entire series is available everywhere eBooks are sold, in kindle, nook, at ARe, Omnilit, Sony, Kobo, and from the publisher in various formats DESERT BREEZE PUBLISHING.

Yes, Steph, White Tiger was the first book, and for the reader, being propelled into the world of Kassouk is a one time experience. The following stories in the series do not reinvent this world each time. But I think you will like Blue Lioness.
