Tirgearr Publishing presents Elizabeth Delisi

ELIZABETH DELISI

Lottie Baldwin is the heroine of “Fatal Fortune,” the first book in the Lottie Baldwin mystery series. Lottie is a psychic and tarot card reader. She’s also independent, sassy, and not afraid to do what she thinks is right, even if everyone else disagrees. She’s what I like to call charmingly eccentric; unfortunately, the residents of her hometown Cheyenne, North Dakota think she’s strange at best, dangerous at worst.

Lottie was born out of my burgeoning interest in tarot cards, combined with a news story about a psychic who helped the police find a missing child. I wondered what would happen if instead of wanting the psychic’s help, authorities wouldn’t listen to her. Would she be forced to investigate on her own?

I’ve written many characters, but Lottie is my favorite. She’s brave, brash, fun, hasty and impetuous, but she’s courageous and she always means well. I wish I were a little more like her!

The “prequel” to “Fatal Fortune,” called “Mistletoe Medium,” is available in the holiday anthology “Enchanted Holidays,” and more Lottie stories are in the works.

I’m currently writing the sequel to “Fatal Fortune,” called “Perilous Prediction.” Here’s the description --

Psychic Lottie Baldwin and Deputy Sheriff Harlan Erikson are planning their wedding when Lottie’s ex-boyfriend shows up in town. Shortly after, he’s murdered and suspicion falls on Lottie as the only likely suspect. With an eyewitness fingering her as the woman seen entering the victim’s motel room, it looks like Lottie is in deep trouble that not even her Tarot cards can fix. Can Harlan prove the woman he loves is innocent before the real murderer adds Lottie to the victim list?

I hope you enjoy reading about Lottie’s adventures!

Elizabeth Delisi wanted to be a writer since she was in first grade, and probably would have written in the womb if she could have convinced her mother to swallow a pencil. But life hasn't always gone the way she planned, and on her road to publication she worked as a motel maid, waitress, secretary, administrative aide, substitute teacher, and newspaper reporter.

She's a multi-published, award-winning author of romance, mystery and suspense. Her time-travel romance set in ancient Egypt, Lady of the Two Lands, won a Bloody Dagger Award and was a Golden Rose Award nominee. Her romantic suspense novel, Since All is Passing was an EPPIE Award finalist and Bloody Dagger Award finalist. Fatal Fortune was a Word Museum Reviewer’s Choice Masterpiece.

Elizabeth's contemporary romance novella The Heart of the Matter is featured in the Valentine's Day-themed anthology Cupid's Capers and was an EPPIE Award finalist. A Carol of Love is part of Holiday Hearts anthology and an EPPIE Award finalist. A Cup of Christmas Charm is part of Holiday Hearts 2 anthology and was also an EPPIE Award finalist.

Elizabeth is an instructor for Writer’s Digest University. She has taught Creative Writing at the community college level, has worked as a copyeditor for several small publishers, and edits for individuals. She holds a B.A. in English with a Creative Writing major from St. Leo University.

Elizabeth is currently at work on Deadly Destiny and Perilous Prediction, the sequels to Fatal Fortune, and Knit A Spell, a paranormal romance.

Elizabeth lives in New Hampshire with her husband and feisty parakeet.

You live in New Hampshire but your story is set in North Dakota? When I think of quirky, independent, sassy characters, I think of New Hampshire. Have you set any of your books there?

Not yet, Catherine, but that's a great idea! I did live in South Dakota for several years, and in Kansas, so I know that area well.

Tarot are fascinating. Someone did a reading once on Nikki, my youngest, and it was right on.

You're right, Debby. The Tarot can be so on-target, it's spooky. I should mention, I commissioned a tarot deck specifically for this mystery series, called the Fatal Fortune Tarot. You can see some of the cards here: http://www.aeclectic.net/tarot/cards/fatal-fortune/

I didn't know you had two sequels going! I can't wait to read them. Also, will Knit A Spell have Lottie as well?

Hi Elizabeth. Most people set their books in their hometown.
Why did you decide to set Fatal Fortune in North Dakota rather than New Hampshire? Just curious.

Heather, I'm halfway through writing the first sequel to Fatal Fortune, and the second one is just an outline so far. No, Lottie isn't in Knit A Spell, that's a story about a witch who owns a yarn shop, and she can't have a serious relationship due to a curse put on her at birth.

Cathy, I wanted to find a location for Lottie where her psychic skills would make her scorned, even feared. I like to think she wouldn't freak anyone out in New Hampshire, hence the location choice. Thanks for asking!
