Tamara Carlisle - Why I Love Blogs

Although I have always been an avid reader (but for my three years in law school), I tended to read the classics, additional published works by my favorite authors, bestsellers or whatever the bricks and mortar booksellers made prominent in their stores that looked interesting.  After purchasing an i-Pad and later a Kindle Fire, I transitioned to the internet as a way to find books to read.  That's what led me to blogs to figure out what to read next.  I'm now addicted to the blogs.  I don't think I've read one book in the last year that I have not first read about on a blog.

The other thing I've found is that I'm enjoying Indie Authors even more than the more established authors.  When it comes to substance over form, you can't beat their novels.  While not always edited and formatted perfectly, the passion in their stories and characters is evident.  These are not authors who are pumping out rote novels every 1-3 years as required by their publishing contracts.

Based on the other blog posts today, I imagine I will be adding a few more books to my "to-read" list and I am very excited about that.  Thank you to GoddessFish and to the other member blogs for providing information about authors and books I might not find otherwise.

You can find some of what I'm reading on my Goodreads Author page although I have a lot of books I need to add or reflect as already read - my goal in the next few weeks.

Tamara...I'm like you. I'm a librarian but I always pretty much read non-fiction. Last year, my New Year's resolution was to read some fiction so I could make recommendations to our patrons. I also took to blogs and have enjoyed "meeting" so many indie authors.

I do enjoy blogs but they are bursting at the seams. Too many blogs and not enough time.

Thank you both for your comments! Catherine, I've had several Indie Authors that I like follow me on Twitter and one even tweeted me - so you really do get to "meet" Indie Authors these days so to speak. Debby, I agree - there are a lot of blogs out there, but it is amazing to see so many people who are passionate about books.
