One More Waning Moon Giveaway
This has been such a great party! Thank you Goddess Fish for putting this together! As a thank you to the readers and party-goers, I'll give one more e-book copy of WANING MOON to a random commenter to this blog post.
The Story Behind the Story:
The story of The Chronicles of Lily Carmichael came to me over time and came as a trilogy right from the start. Book One, WANING MOON, grew out of Lily's main conflict, which is that she has the ability to heal both herself and others due to her genetic alterations, but because of shared DNA, she is unable to heal her uncle's caner or change the fact that her brother has the ability to take a person's life with just a touch--a plight in direct opposition to her healing nature. Lily has to take a journey to find a cure for Sam's cancer and is accompanied on this journey by a young drifter, Will Callahan, who is on a mission to find his father. Lily has her hands full trying to escape capture by a rogue government agency out to exploit her and her brother's abilities, save her family, and avoid falling in love.
The original idea came out of many discussions over pizza and wine, LOL. I live out in the Berkshire Hills in a small remote town with neighbors who love living in the woods as much as my husband and I do. We often get together and talk about current events and contemplate our survival strategies if the world as we know it comes to an end. We aren’t quite as bad as the Doomsday Preppers, but we do try to be prepared for whatever the future holds. Humans are the most adaptable creatures on the planet, and in keeping with my “hopefully ever after” philosophy, I wanted to show how we might survive if life as we know it took a turn for the worse. Lily's future world may seem a bit grim, but true to her nature as a healer, she will find hope and healing, even if it's in a galaxy far, far, away. I hope you'll join me on Lily's journey.

Waning Moon Giveaway
A BIG Hey to all you Goddess Fish party people! Thanks for the invite. As my gift to your readers, one lucky commenter will win a FREE e-book copy of WANING MOON, my new YA Dystopian release. Here's a little about the book.
In the year 2057, in a post-apocalyptic world where a polar shift threatens the survivors of a widespread pandemic with extinction, sixteen-year-old genetically enhanced Lily Carmichael has more immediate problems. Her uncle is dying of cancer and her healing abilities are ineffective against the blood ties that bind them. In order to find a cure, Lily must leave the protection of her quiet town and journey to the trading city of Albany, all while avoiding the Industry, an agency that would like nothing better than to study and exploit her abilities.
Seventeen-year-old Will Callahan has been searching for his father since severe storms blasted through the Midwest, killing his mother and sister. When he learns that his father may be in the city, he catches a ride with Lily, a girl who has come to his rescue more than once. As the two embark on a dangerous journey, the tension between them grows. But the secrets Will’s keeping could put Lily in far more danger than traveling to the city with him, and if he was any kind of man, he would have told her to run the minute she found him.
And here's an excerpt that might grab you:
The sound of water caught my attention. “The sewer!”
Will understood immediately. “After you,” he said, letting me go and then limping toward the storm drain. Water ran down through the holes of a large sewer grate.
We both groaned as we lifted the heavy iron cover, Will nearly dropping it before recovering. I climbed down into the icy, churning water, sucking in a breath while Will slipped on the slimy, metal rungs of the ladder. He paused, grunting as he pulled the heavy cover in place behind him.
Suddenly we heard rushing footsteps overhead and loud, angry voices. Will and I exchanged one, fleeting look and then turned toward the dark tunnel. I felt Will’s hand grab onto mine as he took the lead. “Stay with me. Don’t let go.”
I let him pull me forward. The water deepened as we dragged ourselves along. The sound of rushing water ahead had me backing up against the current. “This was a stupid idea.”
Will tugged me by the hand, wincing in pain. “It’s the only way out. Trust me. It’ll be all right.”
“Trust you? That’s a joke, right?” I tried to pull my hand back, but he gripped harder.
“Can we fight later?”
Before I could argue, a wave of turbulent water rushed in from a connecting pipe, and swept us off our feet. Will’s hand tightened around mine and we dropped abruptly downward. As the slope steepened, the water picked up speed. Darkness and the stench of sewage overwhelmed my senses. Another rapid drop sent my stomach soaring to my throat as Will’s grip broke free.
The thunderous roar of the cascading waterfall swallowed the sound of my scream as the rush launched us into the darkening horizon like a torpedo and then dumped us thirty feet into the icy roiling waters of the Hudson River.

When You See No Way Out...
Well... you didn't see *that* coming.... darn it!
What happens when you find yourself in a situation where you see no way out?
Do you freak out?
Pray about it?
Stay calm and focused?
Sit down and rock back and forth like a baby with your eyes closed... (Okay, I'd like to say I'd pray, but I'd probably rock back and forth... hopefully, I'd be praying while I rocked.)
When you are stuck in a situation you don't know how to get out of, your real character tends to come through. That's what happens to Rachel Harker and Asher Jenkins during a "one day" hiking trip in the Smoky Mountains-- which lasts more than five.
Lost and alone, they have to decide what in the world they are going to do, who they are going to trust, and how they are going to get down once they find Deep Creek flooded, cutting off their only way home.
As the days stretch on and their conditions go from bad to worse, Asher and Rachel are forced to do whatever it takes to find a way home.
What would you do?

New C I N Series e-Shorts Available NOW!
The C I N Series Shorts follows the original characters from the debut novel, C I N (and a few characters you’ve never met–nor will you meet unless you read the shorts), a Puritan Series for the characters in C I N 2: Traitor which you haven’t met yet, and Amie’s Journals. (You’ll find out who Amie is in C I N 2: Traitor on July 15, 2012!)
YOU CAN LEARN ABOUT THE NEW SET UP ON MY BLOG DEDICATED SOLELY TO C I N!
You’ll get to know a few side characters from the debut novel, C I N. Their significance in book one was so small, you may not even remember them! Big Al, Kurt and Anthony (Brace Face) are pretty much known for their part in creating cash flow for C I N.(I bet you don’t remember! lol!) In this e-short, you’ll learn more about them.
Donna Denning should raise a few questions about Michael and Donna that you would otherwise never think about (in the novels) and the answers to those questions will only come through future e-shorts.
Throughout all the e-shorts you will witness the character development of Lisa’s parents, Jimmy and Amber in Story 2, entitled: Jimmy & Amber (also available on Amazon), and in story 3, entitled: Pete and Marie, Lisa’s Aunt Millie becomes more than a side character with a secret. (Actually, she’s in all three new e-shorts!), Reggie and even the villainous Frank make an appearance in the new e-shorts.
Sometimes, in the full length novels, things will happen, that without the e-shorts, you’d never know their significance.(And, no, I won’t give away any secrets here.)
;o) Okay, maybe a few hints ;o)
- While Ally and Lisa are in the kayak, Ally admits that she doesn’t want a best friend because it hurts to watch them grow old…
- At the bonfire, Lisa noticed that Pete and Ally appeared to have a bond.
- The events behind the warehouse fire.
- Everyone hates Donna, but why?
As an added bonus, until the release of C I N 2: Traitor, Donna Denning will include the debut novel C I N! (For those who want a refresher, have never read C I N and/or would like to use it for reference).
I hope you like the e-shorts! If these prove to be of interest to you, the reader, then the following reading schedule will go into effect:
The entire C I N collection in suggested reading order:
1. The C I N Series: Book 1 – “Lynn, Lynn, City of Sin. You Never Come Out the Way You Went In.”Note: You need to read this story to fully understand any of the short stories. Although the shorts are not vital to the 7 novels in the series, the novels are imperative to the shorts.
If you have not read the first book, please contact me personally! (via Facebook, Twitter, email, blog…)
2. The C I N Series Shorts: Story 1 – Donna Denning
The story behind Donna’s traitorous beginning…
3. The C I N Series Shorts: Story 2 – Jimmy & Amber
