Untangle My Heart World-Wide Release Blog Tour

Untangle My Heart will be released world-wide in all digital formats on March 19th. To celebrate, I’ll be having a weekly blog tour with Goddess Fish. Please stop by 3/19 – 5/7 and enter the Rafflecopter contest for a chance to win a $25 Amazon or Barnes and Noble gift card.
Thanks for hanging with me today. I'll leave you with a final excerpt from Untangle My Heart.

Edward raised an eyebrow toward her. “Are you sure you’re up for sledding?” he asked, with a glance down at her black high-heeled boots.
She shot him a challenging look. “Only if we race against you.”
“Me?”
“Lucas and I against you. Loser buys dinner.”
He studied her, almost as though he were weighing how he could turn this contest in his favor. Then he turned to Lucas. “Why don’t you grab two sleds, sport, while I negotiate with Kate?”
Lucas nodded and ran off.
Edward hooked his fingers in her jacket pockets and pulled her closer. “How about if I win, you go on a date with me?”
“That’s playing dirty.”
“Very well. You can explain to Lucas why we’re not racing.”
“I can’t do that. Just look at how excited he is.” She nodded over to where Lucas stood waiting for available sleds, jumping up and down and an enthusiastic grin on his face.
“My sled, my rules, or are you afraid you’ll lose?”
He struck a nerve and he knew it. She couldn’t back down from the challenge. Besides, she’d been rethinking the whole not-dating thing and almost convinced herself she was being ridiculous for fighting their attraction. So no matter what happened, she’d figured she’d win.
She met the challenge of his gaze. “One date—and don’t expect sex.”
He attempted to look shocked, but one side of his mouth twitched. “Certainly not.”
“Fine. Be prepared to lose.”

Untangle My Heart: Where Love, Family and Friendship Unite

Family and friendship are important elements in my contemporary romance, Untangle My Heart. Let’s meet some of the wonderful secondary characters whose happily-ever-afters you'll learn more about in subsequent stories in my Tangled Heart series.

Friendship
You’ll meet Kate’s two BFFs, Meghan and Karen. These friends helped Kate through a tough period in her life and are her soul-sisters. You’ll also meet the adorable orphan, Lucas Black, who Kate befriends. He and Kate share a bond due to a similar tragic past. One of my favorite scenes in the book is the cookie baking scene with Kate. There are elements of baking cookies with my own son in this scene.

Family
I love Kate’s family. You’ll see her butt heads with her equally stubborn younger sister, Vicky, and brother, Vinnie. Then there’s some tender moments between Kate and her parents, Carmen and Joe. And one of my favorite characters to write is Kate’s brother, Nick. He’s the oldest DiFrancesco son and is positively yummy.

Edward’s family is small, but you’ll meet his proper but devastatingly sexy twin brother, Charles, and learn why Edward got a bad-boy reputation at a young age.

I hope you'll enjoy an excerpt from Untangle My Heart. This scene is between Kate and her brother, Nick.

“So what’s going on with you and your architect?”
Kate’s shoulders tensed. “He’s not my architect.”
“No, huh? So your hot summer fling with him has cooled off even though he’s moved to New York?”
Oh, and what a sizzling fling it had been.
She fidgeted in the chair and didn’t meet her brother’s gaze. “As a matter of fact, yes.”
“Come on, sis, you see him every day. He’s one of your bosses.”
“No shit. Tell me something I don’t already know.”
“I don’t think things are over between you.”
Kate snorted. “Shows you know squat.”
“Yeah, then why are you avoiding looking at me?”
Sometimes it sucked having a cop for a brother. Talking to him could be an interrogation. She’d become good at evading questions, or so she thought. But she could never fool Nick, and he called her on it every freaking time.

Meet the hero from Untangle My Heart by Maria K. Alexander

Welcome back. Today, I’ve been talking about my contemporary romance, Untangle My Heart. Next up…let’s talk about my favorite subject…the fabulously sexy hero of Untangle MyHeart. Edward Weston is a reformed British playboy with a somewhat disreputable past. He’s six-feet of lean, sexy male who looks equally good wearing an Armani suit or jeans and a sweater. When he returns to London after a brief fling with the heroine, no one could be more surprised than he to learn he misses the fiery-tempered Kate. When he moves to New York City he’s determined to rekindle his affair with Kate and is disappointed when she refuses. When she seeks his help getting her family’s new restaurant off the ground, he jumps at the opportunity to show he’s more than a one-night stand.

Physical Characteristics: Dark brown hair, slightly long at the collar. 6’, blue-grey eyes.
Age: 33
Primary Strength: strong people skills
Fatal Flaw: Fear of commitment
3 Things Value Most in Life: Relationship with his twin brother, Security, living in the moment
Fettish: he likes expensive clothes
Pet peeve about the heroine:  stubbornness & refusal to accept help
What scares him most about the heroine: that he’s not worthy of her

Here's an excerpt describing Edward, written from Kate’s point of view.

She turned to the entryway as all six feet of Edward Weston strolled through the doorway, a blast of cold November air following him. Dark brown hair tousled from the wind and a day’s worth of beard only enhanced his distractingly good looks. A cocky grin greeted her when his blue-gray eyes met hers and held. Her heart skipped a beat before resuming at a rapid pace. Damn him. Why couldn’t Charles have come instead? Then she wouldn’t be forced to see this man’s full lips and remember how fantastic they’d felt.

Up next...come meet the secondary characters in Untangle MyHeart.

Meet the heroine from Untangle My Heart by Maria K. Alexander

Welcome back. I hope you've enjoyed what I've shared today about my contemporary romance, Untangle My Heart.

Next, I'll share more about my heroine. Kate DiFrancesco is a fiery-tempered Italian with a lot of emotional baggage. She’s loyal to her family and willing to do anything to help them out. She hides her painful past behind snarky comments but her bark is harsher than her bite. She had a three-week fling with the hero, who she expected would be returning, permanently, to his home in jolly ol' England. Imagine her surprise when he moves to New York City and is now one of her bosses.

Physical Characteristics: Long, auburn, wavy hair. 5'4", brown eyes.
Age: 34
Primary Strength: Determination
Fatal Flaw: Independence
3 Things Value Most in Life: Family, honesty, integrity
Fettish: Shoes. She fancies 4" heels of all colors (red is her favorite) and types
Pet peeve about the hero: his calm demeanor
What scares her most about the hero: falling in love with Mr. Wrong only to find out he’s Mr. Right.

Here's an excerpt describing Kate, written from the hero's point of view.

Kate moved through the main dining room, examining every inch with her critical eyes. Skintight jeans hugged the sweetest ass he’d ever seen—and touched. The emerald green sweater fit snug to her narrow waist and revealed enough cleavage to remind him of the perfect breasts beneath. Then there were the red suede boots. The heels added a good four inches to her height and did all kinds of things to arouse his libido. She’d left her hair natural and it framed her face in a tumble of auburn curls, which he knew often drove her crazy, but made her appear wild and delectable. At least to him. He scowled and dragged his gaze away from her to the pad. Get a bloody grip.

Up next...stop by for an insider view of Untangle My Heart’s hero, Edward Weston.

Get Tangled in Love with Maria K. Alexander’s Untangle My Heart

Today, I'm sharing a few important elements in my contemporary romance, Untangle MyHeart.

Second Chances
It’s a second chance at love story that reunites two opposites attract characters. Edward Weston is from a wealthy British family, where he and his brother wore ties to dinner and were taught to suppress their feelings. Kate DiFrancesco is from a hand-gesturing, loud-talking Italian family from Northeast Philadelphia, where love and good food were in abundance. They each have emotional baggage to put aside when danger comes knocking and will need to work together in order to protect those closest to them from harm.

Family Dynamics / Italian Heritage
Family is important to me, so it was natural for me to create a fictional one with a lot of characteristics of my own loud-talking, hand-gesturing Italian family. Everyone who walks into the DiFranceso house gets hugged and kissed. It’s a place where food is a guest at every family gathering and there are always at least two or more simultaneous conversations.

Food
There's an abundance of mouth-watering Italian cuisine. Learn about a traditional Italian celebration, Vigilia di Natale or Vigil of the Nativity. Otherwise known as The Feast of the Seven Fishes.

Suspense
Danger from Kate’s past lurks which causes her life and those around her to be in jeopardy. She’ll need to untangle herself from the past in order to break the hardened shell around her heart.

I hope you'll enjoy this excerpt from Untangle My Heart:

“Privacy is a hard thing to find around here, so you may want to lock the door. Especially when you’re wearing only a towel and my sister is on the prowl.”

“I’ll have to remember that,” Edward said, taking a step toward her. “I knew she was smitten, but didn’t think she would be waiting in the room after my shower. I was struggling with a tactful way of getting her out.”

“I’m sure you’re not accustomed to asking a woman to leave your room.”

He gave her an unapologetic grin. “No, usually not.”

“I guess it’s partly my fault. I told her I don’t have any claims to you. Apparently she took that to mean it was open season to pursue you.”

“Yet you stopped by. Why?”

“I wanted to thank you again for your help today. You dropped everything to come and help my family and that means a lot to me.”

He took another step toward her until he stood directly in front of her. “You mean a lot to me. I’d do anything I could to help you.”

She nodded in acknowledgement, not sure she could trust her voice to speak with him all but touching her.

“And you’re wrong about not having a claim on me.”

His hands found their way to her waist. Her heart thumped and she knew she should pull back, wanted to pull back. But his blue-gray eyes held her in a hypnotic state and she couldn’t move.

Untangle My Heart by Maria K. Alexander

To break free from the past, she'll need to risk her heart to a man least likely to do forever.

Thanks for joining me today to celebrate the release of my contemporary romance, Untangle My Heart. Come, get tangled up in love between New York City and Philadelphia with this second chance at love story.

Throughout today, I'll reveal more about the story as well as share excerpts. Let's start with the blurb.

When her marriage ended in tragedy, Kate DiFrancesco rebuilt her life, but has never gotten over the pain of what she lost. Seeking the help of an ex-lover ignites feelings she’s promised never to have again. She’ll need to untangle herself from dangers in her past in order to break the hard shell around her heart.

Edward Weston has a lot to prove, both to his stuffy upper-crust British family, and to himself. Working alongside Kate, a woman he had a casual relationship with, stirs unexpected feelings. Helping her family makes him realize what he's missing. For the first time, he wants more than a one-night stand.

When Kate is threatened, Edward must overcome feeling unworthy to protect the woman he loves and fight for the family he never thought he’d have.

UNTANGLE MY HEART - Top 10 Reasons to Read

Today, I'm sharing the Top 10 reasons for reading my new contemporary romance, Untangle My Heart.

Can she break free from the past and risk her heart to a man least likely to do forever?

1.      Fiery-tempered heroine. Kate DiFrancesco is an Italian with a lot of emotional baggage. She’s loyal to her family and willing to do anything to help them out. She hides her painful past behind smart-ass comments but her bark is harsher than her bite.
2.      Reformed British playboy. Edward Weston is a hero with a somewhat disreputable past. He’s six-feet of lean, sexy male who looks equally good wearing an Armani suit or jeans and a sweater. He sees right through Kate’s tough girl façade and is determined to help her despite her own stubbornness. He is equally frustrated and enthralled by her.
3.      Second Chances. I’m a sucker for a reunion trope. Lovers who were separated and must overcome various obstacles before they realize they’re meant to be together.
4.     Family dynamics. I spent a lot of time establishing strong family relationships.
5.      Italian heritage. Kate’s from a family of loud-talking, hand-gesturing Italians. A family where everyone gets hugged and kissed. Where food is a guest at every family gathering and where there’s always at least two or more simultaneous conversations.
6.      Friendship. You’ll meet Kate’s two BFFs, Meghan and Karen. These friends helped Kate through a tough period in her life and are her soul-sisters.
7.      The Food. There's an abundance of mouth-watering Italian cuisine. Learn about a traditional Italian celebration, Vigilia di Natale or Vigil of the Nativity. Otherwise known as The Feast of the Seven Fishes.
8.      Lucas Black. He’s the orphan Kate befriends and is the cutest boy ever. One of my favorite scenes in the book is the cookie baking scene with Kate. There are elements of baking cookies with my own son in this scene.
9.      Suspense. Danger from Kate’s past lurks which causes her life and those around her to be in jeopardy. She’ll need to untangle herself from the past in order to break the hardened shell around her heart.
10.  Nick DiFrancesco. Once you read UntangleMy Heart hopefully you’ll understand why. He’s the oldest DiFrancesco son and positively yummy.

I hope you'll enjoy an excerpt from Untangle My Heart:

“Privacy is a hard thing to find around here, so you may want to lock the door. Especially when you’re wearing only a towel and my sister is on the prowl.”

“I’ll have to remember that,” Edward said, taking a step toward her. “I knew she was smitten, but didn’t think she would be waiting in the room after my shower. I was struggling with a tactful way of getting her out.”

“I’m sure you’re not accustomed to asking a woman to leave your room.”
