Wrapping up the day...

Thanks everyone for taking some time and visiting us here at the party! Especially if you're in the States and watching the game...or commercials like in my case. ;)
Hope you've enjoyed the glimpse into the couple of fantasy posts I've shared today. And for a send off, here's a peek into Sunset Desires...

~ Blurb ~
A blind date. A hot tropical evening. She’ll be someone he can’t forget. He’ll fulfill her ultimate fantasy.
Gwendolyn Tramonto is stunned to learn her cousin set her up with sex on the beach and it’s not the drink. But after a several year dry spell of no relationships, no dates…no sex, Gwen decides to take her cousin up on her offer and go out on the blind date. For once, she’d like to indulge in a fantasy, be wined and dined instead of the other way around, and if she and the man ended up in bed together, that would be a nice bonus.
Evan Cadell is looking forward to the date his uncle arranged for him through an exclusive matchmaking service and taking a one night break from work, life and all its demands. From Gwen’s profile, Evan knows what her fantasy is and believes he’s the man who can make it come true.
But will one night in paradise be enough to satisfy their desires?

~ PG Excerpt ~ (not available anywhere else!)
Gwen. The match up. A distraction for a night. A short break from the drudgery of life. Uncle Lane wanted him to start a relationship. He only wanted a fling. That’s all he’d promised his uncle, who seemed gung ho to have him settle down. Weird idea coming from a man who hadn’t had a happy marriage. Evan’s habits of living alone and immersing himself in work were ingrained. He had thirty-five years of bachelorhood to his credit. If it weren’t for Lane, he’d still be at the office poring over figures. Not much else to do when you lived so far away from friends and family, and on an island.
But Uncle Lane, a recent returnee to the dating pool, had decided all the single males in the family needed to dive in with him. He put Evan at the head of the matchmaking line. Lucky me. Shrugging, he downed the rest of his beer. The least I can do is make the best of it and show her a good time. Glancing down at Gwen’s profile, he focused on the main words of her fantasy—vacation, exotic location, handsome man, sensual rendezvous.
Handsome? Check. At least he’d been told he had above-average features. Exotic location? Check. He had the perfect spot to take her. Erotic tryst? Though friends and family called him charming and women praised his skills, he hoped he could give her what she wanted and make her dreams come true.

You just need a little heart... Giveaway!

Hi everyone! I'm so thrilled to be here today as part of the February New Release party! My brand spanking new erotic contemporary book, Heart Signs, released 2/3 from Ellora's Cave.

Here's the blurb:

The heart has a language all its own...

Rory Fowler has taken Sam Miller's billboard orders for the last two years, but they aren't to advertise they're love notes to his wife. Sam's most recent billboard about his wife's passing hits Rory hard. When she calls Sam to offer condolences, it sets off an unexpected chain of events that ends with Rory in Sam's apartment-and his arms.

Reading Sam's love letters tugs Rory into the romance between him and his estranged, now-deceased, wife. Their lives soon intertwine so completely that Rory wonder how she'll ever forget the man who makes poetry out of emotions she's fought to dismiss. And plays her body even more skillfully that he writes love notes.

Consumed by guilt and grief, Sam is shocked by the feelings Rory arouses in him, sexually and otherwise. Now he's not thinking about yesterday as much as he's looking forward to tomorrow. He's just not sure if he's capable of moving on...or if the woman who helped him find the will to really live again will be by his side.

I thought I'd tease you with an excerpt and leave you with a question...do you believe in love/lust at first sight? How about falling in love with a person's words--their heart, so to speak--ever before you meet them? A random commenter will win their choice of my ebooks!

And now, an excerpt from Heart Signs! Over 18 please!

“You’re still dressed,” he said. “What are you wearing?”

“An old 76ers jersey and sleep shorts. They’re terrycloth but they’re so worn the fabric’s almost see-through in spots. You?”

His brain hadn’t yet moved on from see-through shorts. He glanced down at his baggy jeans and gray shop T-shirt. “Jeans and a shirt. Underwear?”

“Oooh yeah, answer that.”

Sam laughed. “Standard navy boxers.”

“Like you were wearing yesterday.”

“Yep.” He cleared his throat as an image of her slick mouth working his shaft again infiltrated his mind. “What about you?”

“No panties. I don’t wear them to bed.”

“Do you…ahh, dress that way when you have a lover too or just when you’re single?”

She was single, right? She wouldn’t have responded the way she had if she were seeing someone. He hoped. It had been so long since he’d been a part of the dating scene that maybe anything went now.

“It depends. I don’t usually have lovers stay over. But when I do, if they’re new, I have a couple little baby doll nighties I wear. You know, the kind that are more lace than fabric.”

“What colors?”

“One’s peach, one’s purple. Light peach, so that my nipples show through.”

“Oh.” Shit, shit, shit, he had to touch himself. He’d gone as rigid as an iron brand and if he didn’t get some relief soon…

“The purple’s dark. Can’t see anything through there except skin.” She let out a breath just as he closed his hand around his length through his jeans. He couldn’t stop the groan. “Are you…”

“Yes. I had to.”

Her audible swallow went a long way to settling his nerves. “Are you hard?”

“Yes. Have been since I heard your voice. And now imagining you wearing peach lace, I’m like a damn baseball bat.”

“You’re close to that long. Not quite as wide at the fullest point.”

He had to laugh. “Join me, why don’t you? Slide down your shorts and tell me how you feel.” His hand flexed. “In detail.”

“I can do that.” For a long moment silence filled the line. Then she made that soft sound deep in her throat and his erection jumped. “Everything’s wet. My panties, my curls, my fingers when I move them in and out. I don’t really know why. We’ve just been talking. Could be your voice is an aphrodisiac.”

“Yours too,” he muttered, gripping his erection. But somehow the sight of his own fingers around his length cooled his jets a little, a visual reminder of what he was about to do. What he had to do to get off, since he wasn’t the man he’d once been.

Not yet. Maybe in time he’d find his way back. In the meantime, he’d just turn off the light.

She spoke just as he settled back against the cushions in his now darkened room. “So if I were there and on the floor in front of you again, what would you do? Tell me.”

The Other Muse - Rawiya Time to Make the Donuts M/M

Good evening.

Most likely a lot of you are watching the Super Bowl, enjoying men in tight pants, tackling each other and well catching balls. *giggles* I do like football but since my fave team isn't in it, I'm here with you lovely people today to tell you about my new book.

For those of you not familiar, I'd be the other muse, Rawiya who writes m/m, m/f, and menage in contemporary settings. The difference between me, Michael, and BL is I'm more into the passion and sensuality between my characters. I believe the romance should be first and foremost in my books, so I spend a little more time writing my love scenes, making my characters solve their problems with realistic solutions everyone can relate to. That's why my tagline is Real Erotica for Real People.

In my upcoming sole author release, Time to Make the Donuts, it's a pretty straightforward sweet m/m romance with a little twist thrown in. I love a hot manlove scene so its not totally sweet but how my characters relate to one another is what makes this book special. It's an interracial m/m short from Naughty Nights Press, part of the Something New on the Menu series. Its due for release at the end of February so please look for it to come out soon.

Thanks Michael for letting me stop in.

Available in February at Amazon, All Romance, and Smashwords

Blurb: Andre, a customer, comes in and pays him a visit. The two lock eyes and immediately connect on a personal level. Because of this, Christopher decides to pursue when Andre passes him his card. He wonders what the young man does for a living however, he’s so smitten by him, Chris doesn’t give it much thought.

Little does the shop owner know, Andre actually works for his biggest competitor as a secret shopper and has been told to use any method necessary to find out the secrets of the shop as well as convince him to sell his shop and become part of the national chain.

When Christopher finds out, he has a surprise for Andre and deals with him in a rather humorous way. Will he trust Andre once he finds out this fact? Will he give up his shop under the pressure the well known franchise?

With the song Manic Monday by the Bangles playing on the overhead, Jesse stood behind the cashier Wanda, getting orders for customers while Christopher finished putting the third batch of donuts in the oven. The owner always felt better when the store officially opened for business making him forget about the lack of sleep he got from the night prior or the fact he’d been in the restaurant since two a.m.
He pushed the double doors open as he came from the kitchen, watching the customers lining up in front of the register. They were ready to give their morning rush orders of coffee and donuts or bagels. Others who had time sat at the long laminate counter waiting for one of the waitresses to take their requests. Bigger groups of people or those who liked to take in the atmosphere sat in booths to sample the diner’s finest delicacies. Part of the charm of Christopher’s place was it catered to everyone in some form or fashion while offering great service. Something he knew that other place could provide.
While waving at a couple of regulars, Christopher started to help Jesse bag a few orders. Unlike most owners, he always chipped in to help on the front lines regardless if it were busy or not.
Jesse smacked him on the shoulder. “Yo dude, you look like you haven’t sleep in weeks.” The husky redheaded woman poured a cup of coffee for a lady in front of her.
“Well thanks,” he frowned. “I’m still being bombarded by calls from that place to get me to sell. They won’t quit. Don’t they get the message?”
“Apparently not. They been callin’ ya at home?”
“No on the cell and all because that one girl that used to work here got employed by them. They thought by doing that, they’d be able to pick up some secrets or learn something new about me, or the restaurant. Didn’t they know I brainwash my former workers,” he laughed.
“You wish. You just don’t share anything important which is smart, now me on the other hand,” She cocked an eyebrow. “I could be an asset to someone if they swayed me to leave.”
Christopher stopped immediately and glared at her. “You’d never.”
She drew up her lips. Within seconds she guffawed and smacked him on the back pretty hard. “Babe, no, never. I’m just messin’ wicha. I’d never leave your side. I told you the day Jayson died I’d help you run the place till we couldn’t do it anymore and I meant it. You know I’m a rebel at heart. I couldn’t go anywhere and work for “the man” and feel comfortable. I ain’t wearin’ no suit and tie for nobody.”
Christopher choked a little from the slap and let out a small sigh of relief. He didn’t know what he’d do without Jesse if she left. Good thing she always had such a good sense of humor and because he liked her as his second in command, he vowed never to piss her off if he could help it. Yes, they’d had run-ins a couple of times over various decisions but he knew most of the time the two of them would come to an agreement in the end.
“Well I’m glad about that.” He straightened his tie and shrugged his shoulders. “I need you here, Jess. No bones about that. Most days, I’m not sure what I’d do without your intellect.”
She blushed and chuckled. “Aw, Christopher, I swear if I didn’t like women and you didn’t like men we’d be a match made in heaven, right?”
A woman with a baby in front of them giggled and took her bag.
Christopher sighed, “Jesse, we really need to stop talkin’ about our personal business up here, huh?”
“Yes, duly noted boss man. Sooo…maybe we should go in the back so I can ask you about the dude I hooked you up with last week.” She nodded and turned to him.
“Um, nothin’ really to tell. I’m sorry Jesse, he’s just not what I’m looking for.”
The manager rolled her eyes. “Just what the hell are you searchin’ for in a man, Chris? You gotta lower your standards just a little don’t you? Ain’t no pretty boy with money and a squeaky clean disposition comin’ into your life any time soon.”
“That might be true but, well, he just didn’t do it for me. I liked that he’s self-sufficient, he’s pretty burly which I, erm, well, I’m not into overly muscular men. He doesn’t have to be a model but he does have to be easy on the eyes.” Christopher paused, “Didn’t I just say I didn’t want to talk about my business up here?” He cocked an eyebrow.
“Oh sorry, let’s go in the back a moment then. I gotta hear the rest of this. Wanda, you okay hon, since the rush is about done?”
The younger blond nodded, “Yep, I’ll call ya’ if I need ya.”
“Great.” Jesse gripped Christopher’s shoulder. “To the back then chief to get another batch ready then, huh?”
“Yep. We’ll be back, Wanda.” Christopher went through the doors and Jesse followed him. He really enjoyed when he and Jesse could work and talk at once. Made the day go by a lot faster. If only he had something other than his seemingly desperate romantic situations to converse about.

LOVE IS BLIND ~ BRIDELOPE ~ The earliest word for a marriage custom by Maggi Andersen
BRIDELOPE dates back to A.D. 950 when it was called brydlopa. Part of this custom, called the ‘run for the bride-door,’ was an ancient tradition in which the bride was both symbolically and physically swept off on horseback to her husband’s home by him and sometimes a helper who was later known as the ‘best man’.
The Anglo-Saxon root word wedd (‘to gamble, wager’) first referred to livestock or other payment by the groom to the bride’s father, as a more civilized alternative to abduction.
In the 17th Century, before it became associated with romantic images, elopement was a legal term for the act of a woman who leaves her husband and ‘dwells with the adulterer, by which she shall lose her dower’. (Thomas Blount Glossographia 1656.)

As a symbol of resistance, the well-prepared Saxon bride’s wedding attire often included knives, which she ‘gracefully hung from her girdle’.
John Heywood listed other bridal equipment in his 1545 work The Four Ps:
Silke swathbonds, ribbands, and sleeve-laces,
Girdles, knives, purses and pin-cases,
Fortune dothe give these knives to you,
To cut the thred of love if’t be not true.

Bridesmaids were originally a maid’s closest friends who might attempt to defend her from an unwanted groom and make sure she didn’t panic and run off, especially in arranged marriages. In a custom known as ‘charming the path,’ the bride was hidden or disguised when the groom’s party came for her.
‘This was a common practice at old-fashioned weddings in Wales, among other places. The bride is generally expected to make a great show of resistance to her departure, and to lament loudly.’
(Burne, Charlotte S. The Handbook of Folklore. London 1883)

As late as the 18th Century, a custom that often accompanied weddings in Wales was a race by the male members of the wedding party to the couple’s future residence, with food or a silk scarf (originally the bride’s garter, a potent love charm) typically awarded to the winner.

At Scottish country weddings, a related custom, to ‘ride the brose,’ with the first to arrive receiving a ‘cog of brose,’ or ‘good fat broth made for the occasion.’ (John Jamieson. An Etymological Dictionary of the Scottish Language 1808)
‘The boast of the winner was how far on with the brose he was before the rest of the company arrived.’

My Georgian romance The relucant Marquess is a marriage of convenience story, set during the Georgian era. It is released on 8th March by Knox Robinson Publishing.
