Blood Betrayed: Saint

For the second book in the Sons of Navarus series, I turned to Saint. Made a vampire on the battlefield at the Battle of the Somme in 1916 during the First World War, Saint was born Declan Collins. He and his brother Teagan were turned that fateful night in France, with Vasilije, Saint's fellow warrior Son being Teagan's sire. Saint is the quintessential brooding vampire. He keeps to himself, and after a betrayal by the only vampire he's ever loved for which he was shunned for a decade from the vampire world,  he has been with human woman exclusively for almost 100 years. This is the reason why he's been saddled with the nickname Saint for years. This also makes him an outcast to many vampires.

Saint and Vasilije are uneasy allies because of their past. Brother and sire have knocked heads more than once over Teagan, and much of Saint's past revolves around his relationship with his brother. In fact, while there is a great deal going on with the Archons in the overall series story arc and a very sexy storyline in romance plot, one of the main facets that joins both of these is the storyline that involves Saint and Teagan.

Brotherly relationships can be dicey at the best of times, but when you get two brothers competing over a woman, the stage is set for a showdown. Solenne, the heroine of Blood Betrayed, is Teagan's vampire, sired by her in the 1920s. Gorgeous with her strawberry-blonde hair and ocean blue eyes, Solenne is also strong-willed and feisty. While Teagan was her sire, Saint was the man she loved. But the bond between sire and vampire is strong and for a vampire, a sire's command is rule.

In many ways, Blood Betrayed is a story of second chances, but anyone who's ever tried to return to the past knows that the ghosts that haunted two people in love then are still somewhere deep inside the heart, waiting to come out and jeopardize the happily ever after we all wish for. For Saint and Solenne, that's even more true because the man he's become in the century they've been apart is hard and defensive. It's going to take a strong woman to break down those walls around his heart.

The Sons of Navarus Series

My newest PNR series is called the Sons of Navarus. A blend of vampire and mythology, the series revolves around eight vampire warriors, the Sons of Navarus, who must defend their world against the Archon takeover. Archons are the law and order vampires, and they believe this is the long prophesied time when they will begin to control the vampire world. Sterile and cruel, the Archons seek to mold their world into one in which all vampires will obey their iron rule.

Long ago, the first vampire was born from the love of the goddess Macaria, the daughter of Hades, the God of the Underworld, and Navarus, the human male who fell in love with her.  As her consort, he walked the night as she always had, becoming the first vampire.  Loving her, he turned her vampire and together they had eight sons. The youngest, Idolas, had a vision of the world long after ancient Greek times, of a time when the Archons, those vampires chosen to keep law and order in the vampire world, would move to overthrow the elders in the Order of Macaria and impose their iron rule on all.

The vampire world is now very far from the love Macaria and Navarus shared millennia ago. The Archons have moved to fulfill the Prophecy of Idolas and begin the takeover.  Standing in their way are the Sons of Navarus, eight vampire warriors chosen by the Order of Macaria to protect the way of life vampires have enjoyed for thousands of years and defeat the Archons when the day Idolas prophesized came true.

That time has come and for the eight Sons of Navarus, this war will test their strength and courage. They must unlock the secrets of the Prophecy of Idolas to defeat the Archons or perish in trying for none of their kind can be safe if the Archons win this battle.
Vampire Dreams Revamped is the prequel to the Sons of Navarus. That novella introduces readers to three of the Sons, especially Vasilije, and other characters who appear in the series. Book One of the series is Blood Avenged and is Vasilije's story. Readers are eased into the Sons of Navarus story, meeting the other seven Sons at the end of Blood Avenged. Book Two of the series is Blood Betrayed, Saint's story. Whereas Vasilije is sensual and hedonistic, Saint is a brooding and dark hero. His story introduces readers to even more of the Sons vs Archon storyline. And coming this September 17 is Book Three of the series, Blood Spirit, Terek's story. With eight Sons, there will be at least one for every reader to love.

Thank You For The Great Release Party

It's been great sharing my new release all day here at the Party Pavilion.  Destiny Redeemed has had to wait a long time for its release.  Completed and through first edits by the end of March, I made Amon and Thea wait until now because my Victorian Erotic Romantic Trilogy novellas took center stage all summer.  Now that they've had their time, it's the novel's time at last.

I began writing Destiny Redeemed almost a year ago, right around Thanksgiving. By the end of February, I was finished with the book and had to type it. (I hand write everything, so even when a story seems complete, it's just beginning in one way!)  By the time I was finished, destiny had something different in store for me.

In the dedication to the book, I explain that some characters are the type that get into your head and don't leave.  Amon is one of those characters for me.  From the moment he came into being, he demanded his story be told. Bigger and badder than most of my heroes, he just wouldn't fit into a mold and every time I wanted him to, he pushed back against me.

Writing Destiny Redeemed was truly a labor of love for me.  I had wonderful characters I loved and a story that I believed in.  For me, there's nothing like a flawed man whose greatness threatens to undo him.  And I'm a sucker for a heroine who is sweet and sexy with a little bit of tough in her. Surrounding these two is a secondary cast of characters who range from the best the world can offer to some very bad men who will stop at nothing to hurt the hero and his heroine. I'm happy to finally be sharing all of them with the rest of the world.

Thanks again to everyone who came by today. :) Remember to comment for a chance to win a copy of the book.  One commenter will win.

Thea From Destiny Redeemed

Hi everyone!  Gabrielle has asked me to come introduce myself, and I'm thrilled to be here at the October Release Party.  My name is Thea Forester, and Destiny Redeemed is the story of how Amon and I fell in love. That's our picture over there.  Isn't he delicious?  I just wish he'd let the world see him smile a bit more like he does when we're alone. He was here earlier, and if you haven't read his post, go check it out.  Amon is my destined one, the man destiny has chosen for me.  As Aeveren, we are drawn to one another across distance and time, so in our remaining lifetimes, we will once again find one another like we did in this one.

In addition to being Amon's destined one, I'm also an Aeveren healer.  When my people are hurt, I'm someone who they call to heal them.  I was born with my power in my first lifetime in Etruscan Rome many lifetimes ago, so I'm quite unique among Aeveren.

Being a healer has meant being alone for many lifetimes because we don't usually get the chance to have destined ones.  Our duty to our people is considered more important than our personal happiness.  For forty-five lifetimes, I didn't have a destined one.  That doesn't mean I didn't fall in love and have all sorts of other fun with men, but it was different than my fellow Aeveren.  While each of them found someone they were meant to be with in lifetime after lifetime, I was alone and knew I probably would be for every lifetime in my future.

That all changed with Amon.  The moment I met him I knew destiny had finally sent me someone for my own. To say we're opposites would be an understatement, though.  He's quite tall at 6"6, while I'm almost a foot shorter.  The power to heal is my only Aeveren ability, but he's got powers like no other Aeveren I've ever heard of.  I'm nice by nature, probably because I'm a healer, but not Amon.  Other than with me and Gethen, his Sidhe friend, Amon tends to be quite...let's say most of the world doesn't get to see the sweetness I see.

We went through some difficult times before we could be together. The Aeveren Council rules much of what we Aeveren do, and the rebel group, the Soren, is always lurking on the edges of our world.  Neither of them wanted to see us together.  But destiny is a difficult force to overcome, and we finally found happiness with each other.

Thanks to Gabrielle and everyone here for letting me tell you a little about myself.  For more about us and our story, Destiny Redeemed, go to http://gbisset.blogspot.com/p/destiny-redeemed.html and http://www.gabriellebisset.com/destiny-redeemed.html and look for the release of Destiny Redeemed on October 13! And for a chance to win a copy of our book, just leave a comment!

Amon From Destiny Redeemed

Gabrielle asked me to stop in and talk a little about who I am.  It seems like an odd request, but since I owe her so much, how could I refuse?  My name is Amon Kalins and I'm an Aeveren tempuster.  That's me on the cover over there.  Beside me is Thea, the beautiful woman I've been blessed to have as my destined one.

As a tempuster, I can travel through time to any period I've lived in.  I was born in my first lifetime in 63 B.C. in Greece, but I've lived in many places and times.  I was a farmer in third century Rome, a viking marauder in the 900s, a Turkish trader in the Ottoman Empire, one of the ruling families of the Aztecs when the Spanish conquistadors overran our land, a member of the landed gentry in late 1700s England, and the list goes on and on as I've lived forty-seven lifetimes.

I was born with my powers, so I'm rare even among Aeveren. Most Aeveren are given one power after their twentieth lifetime, but I was born with the power to travel through time and teleport within the time I'm in.  I'd be lying if I said I haven't used those powers to my own benefit, almost exclusively, for most of my existence.  Truthfully, I've been a bad man for many of my lifetimes.  I don't ask forgiveness, though.  I am what I am.

I've also been blessed with other powers that came after my first lifetime.  I can see into people's minds and implant ideas.  My mental powers are a bit weaker than my other abilities, however, so I can never be as sure of them as my tempuster powers.

It's fair to say life has been interesting.  I've been the villain and the hero, and a little of both still exist in me, as they do in all men.  I'm more good than bad these days, but if the moment calls for it, who knows?

Next up:  Thea

Another Taste of Destiny Redeemed

Earlier this morning, I posted an excerpt from Destiny Redeemed where Amon and Thea first meet.  If you haven't read that, check it out HERE.

It's not a typical meeting for a couple as he's beaten and she's brought to him to heal his body, but it doesn't take long for them to begin to see one another as more than patient and healer.  Here's another taste of Amon and Thea, and remember leave a comment on any of my posts throughout the day for a chance to win a copy of the book!

Amon watched as the pale green flecks in Thea’s blue eyes seemed to dance. He hadn’t noticed how beautiful her eyes were before—how incredibly breathtaking she was, overall. Her face was so close, her pink lips just inches from his...
He certainly didn’t mind her touching him anywhere since her touch was naturally pleasing to start with and only became more so because he wanted her. And he didn’t mind the feel of her soft lips on his skin, either. In fact, he had a number of other places he’d like her to visit with those lips.
As he looked into her eyes now, he saw not only beauty but desire and insecurity. What a wonderfully interesting woman this healer was!
Slowly, Amon saw the insecurity disappear from Thea’s eyes, leaving only desire for what he offered. Need filled his cock, making it impossible to leave their little interlude unfinished. Months of loneliness had made him respond to her touch far more than he ordinarily would have, he reasoned. This was nothing more than the simple need to sexually be with another.
But he’d seen the look on her face before, when Sevine had come to him and found he was her destined one. That was impossible with Thea, though. He still had a destined one, regardless of how she’d manipulated him with magick to escape him. He couldn’t be another’s destined one as long as his still hadn’t finished her fifty lifetimes.
He knew it wasn’t right for him to lead Thea on if she wanted more than he could give, but she was so close and she’d felt so good next to him earlier. All those painful nights in Nil had left him with an emptiness he yearned to fill, and he wanted Thea to heal that too.
Leaning in to her, he caressed her pink lips with his before increasing the intensity of his kiss. Afraid she would back away, he cradled her face in his hands as he slipped his tongue into her warm mouth.
She returned his kiss with a passion that signaled she wanted him. When she moaned into his mouth, Amon knew he didn’t want this to end with a kiss. As she began to feast on his mouth, he guided her onto his lap, setting her up against the base of his rigid cock. Realizing her position, she pulled away, frightened, but with his hand on her lower back, he trapped her against him.
“Please let me go,” she begged.
“Why?”
“I can’t do this.”
Amon’s mind listed the reasons why she possibly couldn’t, crossing off all but one. “Do you have a destined one?” he asked, searching her eyes.
Thea dropped her eyes to look at his chest and stopped trying to get away from him. Quietly, she answered his question. “No, I don’t have a destined one. I’ve never had one in forty-five lifetimes.”
“Never?”
Amon couldn’t imagine what mistake of nature had been made to ensure the sweet creature that sat on his lap remained ultimately alone for so long. He’d been a heartless fuck for many of his forty-seven lifetimes, and he’d had three destined ones.
Thea said nothing but continued to avoid his gaze.
“Why?”
As soon as he said it, he hated himself. She most likely wouldn’t know why every life promised her she’d be alone.
“I’m a healer. It’s uncommon for us to be blessed with destined ones. Our calling is more important than our individual happiness.”
Every word she said dripped duty and loneliness between them. Amon looked up to see her eyes filled with tears, and his heart broke for her. He’d often thought of how unfair his life had seemed in the past year, but he knew he’d done more than enough to deserve his sentence in Nil. Thea had done nothing to deserve her fate.
He wiped the tear that had dropped onto her cheek with his finger and lifted her chin to make her meet his gaze. He couldn’t just sleep with her now. The look on her face showed him that she mistakenly believed she’d finally found a destined one in him.
“I’m sorry, Thea.”
Thea began to cry, her tears flowing down her face from his rejection. God, he felt like a fuck!
“Let me go,” she said sadly as she pulled away from him.
Amon knew he should just release his hold on her, convinced her emotions were bound to begin affecting him at any moment. But he couldn’t. He was responsible for much of her sadness and needed to do something to fix what he’d done.
Putting his arms around her, he pulled her upper body to his, holding her tighter as she resisted more. As she sobbed into the side of his neck, her body softly heaved against his. Wanting more than anything to make her feel better, he stroked her long blond hair while her crying flooded his ears.
Amon braced himself for his reaction. He’d always fed off others’ emotions and used them to his own benefit, careful to minimize his exposure to sadness. He vividly remembered Callia’s effect on him and dreaded a replay of that with Thea as he was sure his body couldn’t take much more abuse, but with relief he remembered that his destined one’s curse on him only worked if he was in love with the woman. Safe in his belief that while he’d grown to care for her in the short time he’d known her he wasn’t in love with Thea, Amon held her until her crying stopped and she was still in his arms.
Lifting her head, she wiped her tears from her face. “Why don’t you want me as your destined one?
A lump formed in his throat at the sound of the sadness in her voice. There was nothing he’d like more in this world than to have Thea for his. But that couldn’t be.
“It’s not a choice, Thea. It’s just not possible.”
“Why?”
He looked into the beautiful eyes of the one who’d already given him so much kindness and hated what he had to say.
“Thea, I already have a destined one.”
Amon saw the shock register on her face. She had been so kind to him, and he hated having to say those words, more than she could ever know. Obviously embarrassed, she dropped her eyes and climbed off him, saying nothing.
She stood on the floor on the opposite side of the bed and straightened herself. “I...I want to sleep somewhere else. If you’re going to hold me here against my will, I’d at least like to be alone.”
Amon felt the sting of her sadness and regretted telling her, no matter how much she needed to know. But the selfish part of him didn’t want to be without her.
“I need you here to help me heal.”
He knew he was being insensitive, but he didn’t care.
“I can heal you just as well sleeping in another room,” she said angrily.
Amon wanted to refuse her again, but the hurt coming from her crushed any desire to keep her in his room. Concentrating, he silently reached out to Gethen. As he waited for him, Amon watched Thea with sadness, wishing more than ever their world wasn’t like it was.

Check back a little later for posts from the characters themselves!

Welcome to The October Release Party!

I'm so glad to be here to celebrate the October Release Party because my novel, Destiny Redeemed, releases on October 13.  I'll be posting throughout the day with excerpts and info about the main characters, but first let me give a little background on this erotic paranormal romance.  Leave a comment on any of my posts throughout the day for a chance to win a copy of the book!

The story is about a race of people called Aeveren.  Aeveren are descended from humans, but long ago they were chosen by the Archangel Raziel to be his people.  He gave them the gifts of reincarnation, powers beyond what humans have, and destined ones.  Aeveren live fifty lifetimes through reincarnation and carry with them their memories from their past lives.  Upon reaching their twentieth lifetimes, they receive a power, such as telepathy, teleportation, or the power of time travel.  However, some Aeveren are born with their abilities, making them far more powerful than the rest of the race.  Finally, each Aeveren soul is given destined ones, other Aeveren meant only for them.  However, Aeveren possess free will, and like humans, they don't always choose as they should.

Amon Kalins is an ancient of the Aeveren race and a very powerful one at that.  He's lived forty-seven lifetimes and has the power of time travel, teleportation, telepathy, and the ability to control what others around him are thinking.  He's been blessed, for sure, but he's squandered his gifts, preferring to use them for only his benefit and losing the love three destined ones in the process.  His actions against his fellow Aeveren have resulted in his imprisonment in Nil, Aeveren prison.

Thea Forester is also an ancient Aeveren in her forty-fifth lifetime, but unlike Amon, she's never had a destined one because she's been given the gift of healing.  Aeveren healers rarely receive the gift of a destined one, consigning them to a highly respected but lonely existence.  Thea accepts this as her destiny but can't keep from wishing that somewhere there's a destined one for her.

Sentenced to spend the rest of his three remaining lifetimes in Nil, Amon Kalins is freed with the help of his Sidhe servant, Gethen, but now he must accept his life is never to be his again as the Council won't rest until he's safely back imprisoned within Nil's cold walls. Broken and nearly dead from his time in prison, Amon is saved by an Aeveren healer named Althea Forester. As a healer, Thea has served her people for forty-five lifetimes, never having a destined one and always knowing each lifetime would ultimately end with her alone. But destiny hasn't forgotten her.

Drawn to the seductive Amon, Thea quickly becomes a pawn the Council uses to trap him. Taken prisoner by the sadistic leader of the rebel group, the Soren, Thea must survive the vicious world of the people hellbent on taking her destined one away forever, and Amon must risk everything dear to him to free her from those who would sacrifice her to claim the bigger prize and return him to Nil.

Excerpt:

Amon looked up at the terrified woman standing over him and pity for her washed over him. As she stood frozen, he spoke to her, hoping to calm her fears.
“What’s your name?”
The woman stood as silent as a statue, her gaze fixed on the floor.
“Tell him your name,” Gethen said in a low, menacing voice.
Amon grimaced at his friend’s threatening tone and repeated his question. When she didn’t answer again, he added, “Please don’t be frightened. Gethen won’t hurt you. He’s just worried about me. I promise you’re in no danger in my home.”
Thea slowly lifted her eyes to his right leg. Without a word, she moved to the opposite side of the bed and focused intently on the injury.
Amon watched in apprehension as she stared at the main source of his pain. She seemed to forget anyone but the two of them were in the room. When she moved to touch his leg, he flinched and groaned, “No,” but she seemed oblivious to his refusal.
Gently, she touched just below his knee, and Amon waited for the searing pain to return with a vengeance. Eyes closed, holding his breath, he waited, but only relief came. His pain ebbed away, and when he was convinced it wouldn’t be back at least while she touched him, he allowed himself to exhale fully and slowly opened his eyes.
The left eye was still swollen, but through his right eye he studied the creature that had just taken his pain away. For the first time since she’d entered the room, he noticed how placid her face was. Long blond hair framed her soft face, falling in tendrils toward her waist, and pale blue eyes looked to his leg, as if she were willing him better.
Amon’s study of her was broken only by Gethen’s shifting positions against the door frame as he nervously watched her do as he’d commanded.  The noise interrupted her focus, and she looked up into Amon’s face. He winced expecting the pain to return, and she slowly moved to touch his face near his swollen eye.
“Thea,” he heard her whisper as she gingerly placed her right hand over his left eye.
Involuntarily, he relaxed and closed both eyes as a sense of calm flowed over him. He wasn’t sure how long he lay there with her soft touch on him, but he felt the loss instantly when she moved away.
He opened his eyes in time to see her sway back toward the wall. He reached out to grab her, but in his weakened condition, he knew he’d only be able to support her for just seconds before she fell to the ground.
“Gethen!”
The man raced around the bed to catch her as she slipped from Amon’s hold. As he held her limp body in his arms, he looked to Amon with a confused look for guidance as to what to do with yet another hurt person.
“Place her next to me here,” he said pointing to the unoccupied half of the kind size bed he lay in.
As Gethen did as he requested, he asked, “What happened?”
“Aeveren healers can become overwhelmed if the person they’re healing is severely injured. Considering the amount of pain I had before she touched me and how little I have now in both my leg and my eye, it’s not surprising she found it to be too much.”
Amon inched up into a sitting position and looked down at Thea as she lay motionless next to him. He regretted Markku having to take her against her will and having to hold her there, but the effect of just her brief healing touch was wonderful.
Looking up at Gethen, he whispered, “I’m tired, friend. Dim the lights and let me rest for a while.”
“Do you think that’s wise? She may wake up and hurt you.”
“Gethen, she’s a healer.”
“Amon, she bit Markku downstairs.”
Smiling, Amon joked, “That’s Markku. She wouldn’t be the first person to want to harm him, and certainly not the first woman. And she had the right to fight back. She’s not here of her own free will.”
Gethen continued, undeterred. “I’m just worried she may try to leave.”
“Then you can remain outside the door, if you’d like. But I’m sure downstairs would be fine and far more comfortable. There’s only one door to the outside, and it’s on the first floor.”
Gethen accepted Amon’s argument and dimmed the ceiling light until the room glowed a pale amber color. He closed the door with one last glance back at him, and Amon listened as he made his way down the stairs.
Sleep began to come over him and he welcomed it like an old friend absent from his life for what seemed like years. For the first time in almost twelve months, he was in a bed and his body didn’t ache so much it would keep him up all night. And for the first time in all those months, he wasn’t alone. He inhaled deeply and let the air out of his lungs slowly, savoring the safety he felt.
Turning to look at the woman next to him, he watched as she lay silently still except for her breathing. Her hands seemed so small until his gaze traveled the length of her body. All of Thea was small. She’d seemed so much larger as she stood over him, but the person he saw beside him was petite. As he noticed this, sleep took over and his eyelids drooped closed.

Stop back throughout the day for more from Destiny Redeemed. Have a great one!

Excerpt From Vampire Dreams

My new novella, Vampire Dreams, available at Amazon, All Romance eBooks, and Smashwords is out now.  Here's an excerpt:

Excerpt:
Brandon knew by midnight all in the house would be asleep, including Arden. He remained at his desk in his study, waiting patiently as the minutes ticked away. When the grandfather clock in the parlor announced midnight, he quietly ascended the stairs to her bedroom.
Once inside her room, he stood with his back pressed to the door watching her. How beautiful she was in sleep! As beautiful as during waking hours. As the glow of the moon streamed in and bathed her in its light, he was reminded of the vision of her the night before and told himself she was a natural child of the night.
She remained asleep, and as he watched, aroused by her peacefulness, his passions created a storm in him he struggled to control. So innocent, yet so desirable.
He’d purposefully avoided her since waking, sure his need for her would be met by the response of a proper lady. No, he’d have her this way and wait for her to come to him.
Almost timidly, as if what he might find may cause him to lose control of his desire, he peeled back the blanket and sheet to reveal her body covered only by a thin white nightgown. Mere fabric was all that stood between his desires and sweet satisfaction.
He stopped a moment as she unconsciously recognized the change in her sleep, and when she stilled, he sat silently on the bed next to her to study her. She was so delicate—how would she respond to his touch?
Struggling to restrain himself, he gently touched the soft collar of her nightgown and tugged on the silk ribbon at her neck. Opened, it revealed a tease of what was to come. One by one, he untied the ribbons that held the fabric closed, until he’d revealed her beautiful breasts and body.
How he wanted her! That it must be like this for now he accepted, but he eagerly awaited the time when she’d choose to come to him. In a whisper, he spoke the chant that would awaken her as if in a dream.
When she opened her eyes and gazed up at him with a knowing look, his heart pounded against his chest in fear that the enchantment hadn’t worked and she was conscious of him. But soon he saw her eyes cloud over with passion as she reached out for him and searched for his mouth with hers.

Vampire Dreams Release

Hi everyone!  My name is Gabrielle Bisset.  Thanks to everyone who's here and to Judy and Marianne for hosting this wonderful party.

I write erotic romance that's steamy and sensual, whether it be novella or novel length.  My new novella, Vampire Dreams is out now.  Here's a taste:

Homeless and without any family, Arden Stephens must live on the streets of mid 19th century London, never a safe place for a young woman.  One night, as she is running for her life from an attacker, she is rescued by Brandon Ridley and offered a place in his home as his maid.  Brandon is enchanted by Arden from the moment they meet, but just as she has secrets, so too does he.  A vampire hundreds of years old, he yearns for the companionship she can give him.  But for that he must make her one of his kind.

Nightly, he visits her in her sleep, preparing her for the night he will finally make her his own.  For Arden, the wanton dreams she has about her handsome employer seduce her and each day when she wakes up, she finds herself more drawn to him.  But love and desire aren't enough for Brandon to sire her.  He must first obtain the approval of his maker, an ancient vampire named Vasilije who has thwarted his chance for happiness before.

But if Brandon can convince him, he may finally find the love he's been without for centuries.

You can find Vampire Dreams at Amazon, All Romance eBooks, and Smashwords.  Be sure to check back later this morning for an excerpt from the book and this afternoon for a chance to win a copy.
