Eden Glenn - Trust of Promise (R)

I'd always considered myself a paranormal erotic romance writer. Yet my first work was a m/m historic erotic romance and my send was a contemporary menage erotic romance. Not too much paranormal going on in my career thus far. LOL. The menage story of course had that little hint that maybe the amethyst was magical. I left that up to the reader to decide in the end was it? wasn't it? One of the characters... a clerk in Salynne's Crystals and Thyme said the magic was in the woman not the stone.

Now this next story was a F/F Paranormal Erotic Romance. That's a little off the beaten path for me. I'd not considered writing a Female Female erotic story. My editor at Rebel Ink Press challenged me to write this story. She said some really kind flattering things about my writing. I gushed, danced and spun around at least twice upon reading her words in the email she'd sent back with the revisions for The Galloping Ghoul of Hockomock Swamp. In part she suggested that I try my pen at a Female Female romance. Oh dear! I'd agreed before I knew what I was getting myself into. I pitched a loose proposal for the story and went to work.

My life underwent some dramatic changes and in moments I wondered if I would ever finish this story.

So along the way I had a lot of time to reflect on promises and the sacred trust that a promise should be. I always remember the phrase, "A promise is a promise and a deal's a deal." I don't even know where that came from. Buried in my brain from childhood.

Anyway, I created a race of fae folk where their promise was irrevocable. Naturally they didn't make promises lightly since they were such a sacred bond. "Dar'kind Promises" was born.

Blurb:
Darkind Fairy Maura comes to the human dimension on a search and rescue mission for one of her race. The success of the mission rests on her wits and the skilled aid of her feline tracker, Zelia. Unfortunately, Zelia is experiencing unpredictable shifts between feline and human forms.
Distracted by the sultry woman in her bed, Maura struggles to stay focused on their quest. If they’re unable to figure out how to gain control of Zelia’s shifting, all hope for success of their mission as well as any possibility of their future together will be lost.
Worse yet, an ancient evil targets Zelia and Maura in a bid for power and control of their magic.
Zelia is willing to risk becoming trapped in feline form and losing the love she’s found if it means she can save Maura from the evil hunting them. Meanwhile, Maura searches for the strength to abandon the quest for her lost ‘sister’ if doing so will save Zelia’s life and stabilize her shifting abilities.

Carl Frankin Graphic God at work again.

(Zelia learns that Maura is her mate)

This? This Dar’kind Fae person was her Divalent? The one she would bond with on a metaphysical level? Zelia always thought eventually a strong enough warrior would trigger this response somewhat hoping all along the overpowering mate bond wouldn’t happen for her. The responsibility was intimidating and she resisted it. Balls.

The warrior Imal slept with her on and off for months. He probably hoped screwing her would trigger the process, thereby increasing his power and status in the community. She’d settled for him after a fashion. Why this Fae person? Why now? Were the fates so cruel to make her destined mate a Dar’kind Fairy? And a female one at that? The two of them weren’t even the same species.

Maura murmured in her sleep again and rustled the covers with twitching legs. The spiciness of her scent drove the message home. Without question this delicate looking, tough as iron Dar’kind Fairy was the one she had waited for, yet dreaded all her life. A life mate to bind with for all her days until Goddess took her breath back. Zelia remained mesmerized and repulsed all at the same time.

She didn’t smell like someone to dread. She smelled delicious, warm, and sexy. But one of the Fae folk? Fricken disaster looking for a place to land. Apparently, right in her lap was the choice of the day.

Zelia wanted to explore the soft curls at the juncture of the Fairy’s thighs and slide her fingers between the folds of delicate skin to stroke the woman to climax. She’d been in the desert too long in predator form. She’d neglected the needs of her human flesh. Restless hunger and need rode her. No, Zelia was not going to allow herself to have sex with one of those people. This Fae person was an assignment, nothing more.

Prepare to leave your safe world behind.

So This Is Christmas...The Music Inspiring Christmas Glow

I thought for my last post of the weekend, I'd post a couple of my favorite Christmas songs and some of the tunes that inspired me while I wrote Christmas Glow. Here are the top three:

Please Come Home For Christmas by Bon Jovi

Believe by Josh Groban

And...

Christmas Cannon by TransSiberian Orchestra

I know they aren't all rock songs and not rollicking, but sometimes you don't have to be in a hard headspace to write something erotic. I hope you've enjoyed this glimpse into my thoughts and my work. I hope you grab a copy of Christmas Glow and love the story as much as I loved writing it.

 Her Moonlight Lover

Blurb: Stranded in the middle of Iowa, Bailey has to rely on the hospitality of a hot redhead with a body to die for. After skinny dipping leads to an incredible night of Sapphic loving, Bailey is smitten by the eager and willing Melanie.

When morning comes, Bailey may find there’s more to Melanie than meets the eye.

PG-13 Excerpt: I love a woman with stamina.

Bailey cleared her throat. “So, Melanie, you have a husband somewhere?”

She flashed that gorgeous smile. “Nope.”

“Boyfriend?”

She shook her head. “Nope.”

“Girlfriend?”

Melanie stood in waist deep water. Rivulets poured down her shoulders.

“I-I’ve never been with a woman, actually.” She swept her hands in wide arcs over the surface and small waves lapped at Bailey’s chin where she tread water further from shore. Bailey kicked toward her, then stood and the other woman sucked in a breath, eyes widening. She took a step forward watching closely for any sign that her redhead might shy away.

“Melanie, let me make love to you.”

She peered up through her lashes. “I wouldn’t know how. I mean I know how with a man, but….”

Bailey smiled, reaching a hand to the other woman’s upper arm, letting her fingertips trail to her shoulder then down to the delicate gold chain she wore around her neck. A tiny infinity pendant dangled from it.

Their breaths quickened.

EXCERPT:

Alex wasn’t going to get anywhere arguing about the marriage thing. She tried a different tactic. “What website?”
Kris walked over to a large desk. Alex followed him. Kris pulled up the website in question and gestured to it. “It seemed the perfect place to find my bride after searching this past year to no avail.”
Alex rolled her eyes at the title of the site -- Finding Your Perfect Mrs. Claus. It was her boss’s idea of getting into the holiday spirit. She said, “Show me what you clicked on to get to me.”
The page had two buttons -- one said Naughty and the other said Nice. Naughty referred to strippers who did full nudity, while Nice referred to strippers who went down to a string bikini.
Kris clicked the Nice button, which led to a page of pictures. Alex’s picture was the last on the page. Kris said, “I looked through all of the girls and found you the most desirable as my wife.” He clicked on her picture and loaded a page featuring stats about Alex -- age, height, weight, likes, etc -- and a vid of Alex wearing a Mrs. Claus ball gown while handing out presents to a room full of happy men.
Gesturing to the vid, Kris said, “You are a bringer of joy. Looking at this video confirmed you would be my perfect wife. I paid the dowry and here you are.”
Alex snorted. “Dowry, huh?” He had to mean the private party fee to have her strip on location.
“It was a small sum, but I paid it gladly.”
“Did you click on the button that says more?” She pointed to the bottom right of the screen.
Kris clicked the button. Another page loaded, showing the second half of the vid that had started on the previous page. It showed Alex ripping open her Mrs. Claus breakaway dress to the hooting and hollering of the men who had just gotten her presents. She danced on and around a pole while men stuffed money down her bra and panties.
Alex watched as Kris turned pale and his ears drooped until they were almost folded in half. His look of horror returned.
“What… what are you doing? This is naughty. This is extremely naughty. No wife of the House of Kringle should do such things as this.”
“Next time click the more button,” Alex said with a shrug. “Look, Kris. It’s no big if you don’t want me here. I’ll talk to my boss and get your money back. We can chalk this up to a fun mistake and go about our lives. Just tell Noël to bring the car around and take me home.”
“You cannot go home.”

Blurb:

Warriors from the Raven clan are sent to guard the king's cattle. They are unprepared for the strange, otherworldly happenings in the new winter grazing land, including nocturnal visits by a beautiful lass. Only their leader, Taran, can save them—if he remembers how.

Excerpt:

Alina wanted to cry out to him, but her throat would not form any sounds. The one who had betrayed her and trapped her in this tree had taken away her speech so she could not ask for help to escape her prison. So many centuries had turned, each season passing in a blur of muted colors, her hope fading. Now someone had come, a mortal who could help her, but she needed to communicate with him in some way. Sighing, she realized she was not even sure she knew how to break the curse.

He watched her now with curious eyes, unaware that she also watched him. When she concentrated all of her power, she could imprint an image of her face on the tree trunk, becoming one with the tree. Only he had seen her face in the tree bark, so she knew he was more than a simple warrior. He had the mind of a druid. Only the one who could help her would be able to see into other realms and pay such close attention to her tree. She sensed the affection in his caress. Shivers of pleasure shot through her body at his gentle touch, giving her a sense of hope.

She studied him, admiring the confident way he commanded his men even as he faced the unknown. He stood regal and powerful, the blue warrior marks he earned shadowing the austere planes of his handsome face. Long, golden-copper streaked hair plunged down his back in a wild tangle. She yearned to run her hands through his thick mane again.

As if reading her thoughts, he glanced back at her tree, his bright blue eyes darkening to a deeper hue in the shifting light, his face softening from its usual hardness. When he looked in her direction, he let slip his true feelings he hid from his warriors. Her heart sang with compassion for him.

She felt herself blush at his penetrating gaze. His eyes awakened that feeling of familiarity in her again, but she still could not place it. If she escaped her prison, she could go to him now. Frowning, she thought how she hated the tree that felt like a tomb. The world beyond the tree taunted her with its bright autumn colors, a world so full of life and freedom. She could not bear to look upon it any longer.

To help her bide her time, she thought about their coupling. Her body flushed at the memory. She recalled how wonderful his muscles had felt beneath her touch and the way he had kissed her, caressing her secret places with his skillful tongue, making her moan and quake. A twinge of desire flickered inside her at the thought of having him touch her again tonight.

When they discovered another missing cow, they would have to stay. At least she hoped so. She continued to hide some of their cattle to keep the warrior there so eventually he could help her escape.

At first, she only wanted to use him to help her escape, but now her body trembled with affection for the golden warrior. After he rekindled what had been dormant for so long inside of her, she began to yearn for him and his tender, passionate touch. Could she let him go? And if he should eat of the apples….

Spooky Moment from Mia's Books

Hi again, hope you're all ready for another shiver down your spine, here's another spooky excerpt from Mia’s Books, my paranormal novella from Beachwalk.
Thanks and keep reading for a chance to win a copy x x

As soon as she put the key in the lock, Mia knew her ghost lover was in the house. The chill penetrated through the keyhole and into her jangling bundle of keys. When she opened the door, the frosty air swept out into the sunshine and covered her in its foggy breath.
She went into the hallway and pulled her jacket tight around her. The ghost had filled every part of the house, and Mia sensed that the entity was angry. Fear rose in her throat as she slowly made her way through to the bedroom to find the book. As she looked in, she saw pages and pages torn out and scattered carelessly all over the place. Mia was scared and pulled the door shut.
She ran to the front door to escape, but it locked in front of her. Mia froze as something moved in the chink of light coming from under her bedroom door. Was the ghost there? She shuddered as the corner of a page was pushed under the door and flicked into the air as if a gush of wind had lifted it. Mia watched as another then another followed and started flying and fluttering toward her, red, angry words screeching into her face.
Where were you? they read one after the other, Where were you?
Mia shielded her face in her arms and sank to the floor. She’d never meant to hurt her ghost lover. “I’m sorry,” she wailed. “I thought it was you!”
The pages kept coming in attack, and Mia was terrified. The ghost had always been so gentle before. Suddenly, as quick as the storm began, it stopped. The pages dropped to the ground and silence engulfed her. She waited for a minute before she dared move, then she started to pick them up and carefully put them in order.
She looked at the red lettering, slashing the pages like angry scars, and felt awful. She didn’t want to hurt the fragile spirit, but she didn’t want to be scared either. Sorrow suddenly overtook her, and tears ran down her face and onto the pile of paper. As Mia cried and cried, the tears splashed onto the words and the ink ran, spoiling the angry phrasing. Mia couldn’t stop, and she just let herself go, heaving and wailing. She couldn’t even be sure of why she was crying, but somewhere deep inside it felt right.
As she watched, the red ink pooled together into new forms. Kneeling, Mia held her breath as hundreds of roses came into bloom around her. Around each flower came a new message, I’m sorry, Mia.
Mia picked up the pages and held them to her breast. “I only try to do what you ask,” she whispered into the tattered paper.
The pieces of the book lost their energy once more, and the presence left. She heard the tub running and went through to investigate. The bathroom was aglow with candles and a glorious bubble bath was being filled for her. Mia inhaled the scent of rose petals and lavender and peeled off her clothes...

Lust Undone-Second Excerpt (Adult)

“No!”
Sophia shouted it so loud she startled herself into full wakefulness. She only hoped the walls were thick enough so Logan hadn’t heard her. Waiting to see if the phone rang or a knock sounded on the door, she finally eased back down onto the pillows.
Well, that didn’t work out too well.
No matter what she did, her body wouldn’t relax nor would her mind. When the light tap sounded at her door at twenty after twelve she was through arguing with herself, through finding excuses.
Trembling slightly with anticipation she undid the deadbolt and security lock and pulled the door open. Clint Beaudine was leaning into the frame looking like the world’s original bad boy. He was just as she’d seen him in her mind earlier, except that he was wearing a t-shirt and a sheepskin-lined jacket. His eyes were just as smoldering, his face just as strong-featured and one lock of his thick hair fell over his forehead. His mouth curved in a hungry smile.
“You gonna let me in, chere? I’m freezing my ass off out here.”
As if it was the most natural thing in the world she opened the door wide and stepped aside to let him cross the threshold. He bolted the door, only half turning to do it so he could keep his gaze locked with hers. Sophia backed up two steps, three, and bumped into one of the chairs at the round dinette table. Clint discarded his jacket, still advancing toward her. Then, before she could get a word out, he had his arms around her, his mouth hot and hungry on hers.
His tongue was like a flame in her mouth, scorching her every place it touched, sweeping, gliding, tasting. Her head swam and her bones turned to liquid as he drank and drank and drank from her. His body against her was just as hard as it looked, all steel muscle. And hardest of all was the thick ridge of his cock pressing against her through the worn denim of his jeans, like a brand burning through the layers of cloth.
Her fingers threaded through the heavy silk of his hair, holding his head to hers. She forgot to breathe, forgot anything except this man and the fusion of their mouths. When he finally lifted his mouth a fraction she could see the amber in his eyes gleaming like tiny dancing flames. His licked the outline of her lips then trailed kisses along the line of her jaw and down the column of her neck.
“I’m going to fuck you, chere.”
It wasn’t the lust in his voice that shocked as much as his use of the exact words she’d heard in her almost-dream. Desire skated along her spine and burst into the throbbing walls of her pussy. She wasn’t sure how much longer she could remain upright even within the iron circle of his arms.
Finally he loosened his grip and took a step back.
“We have too many clothes on.”
He turned her around, sat her on the edge of the bed and pressed the switch on the bedside lamp. With the amber glow smoothing over his body he stripped efficiently out of his jeans and t-shirt. No underwear. She should have known he’d go commando. His body as just as magnificent as in her dream only now she could see it all—the sculpted muscles, the same dusting of dark hair on his legs, the lean hips and broad shoulders. And his cock, so utterly magnificent, rising from a very thick nest of curls, the head dark and flared, his sac lying heavy against his thighs.
“Like what you see, chere?” There was no mistaking the slight arrogance in his voice. Clint Beaudine knew what he had to offer a woman. No doubt about it.
Sophia had never in her life desired a man so much, felt such powerful chemistry with another human being. Without thinking she stretched out her arm to reach for his erection. He stepped closer to her and her hand closed around the wide shaft, the skin like soft velvet over the core of steel. Hard didn’t begin to describe its condition.
She rubbed her thumb over the head, spreading the small bead of liquid seeping from the slit. Then stroked up and down, just once, before his fingers clamped around her wrist.
“Later. Right now I have to be inside you.” He bent lower to her. “But trust me, we’ll have time for whatever we want.”

Blurb

Returning to her home state of Maine to investigate a possible Chupacabra killing, Sophia Black meets Clint Beltaire, lean, dark and sexy. From the moment she meets him the heat between them is incendiary, the sex erotic and the pleasure beyond her imagination. Clint takes her in ways that fulfill all of her fantasies and teaches her ways to please him. The Maine air might be cold but in Sophia’s motel room it’s beyond boiling. Clint works to help her with her case, using his knowledge of the area in which he grew up. And as they learn each others secrets it’s obvious to both of them that they are meant to be together. Mated.

Exccerpt:
Sophia watched her, eyes tracking to the man behind the bar. And unexpectedly her pulse kicked over and heat flashed through her.
What the hell is this?
But the man seemed to carry an electric charge around him. He wasn’t that tall, not even six feet, she guessed. But inside the plaid shirt with the rolled up sleeves she could see the outline of a compact muscular body. Thick dark hair touched the collar of the shirt and she could see it sprinkled on his arms where they were visible. His face was rugged rather than handsome, at least as much as she could tell from that distance. A good case of five o’clock shadow gave him an intriguingly dangerous look. Then he raised his eyes to scan the booth and she felt their impact clear to her toes.
Sophia wriggled in her seat, trying to still the sudden ramped up beat of her pulse in her cunt. Why on earth in the midst of this crisis did her hormones suddenly decide to take a walk on the wild side?
“He and Frenchy sure don’t look anything alike,” she told her sister.
“I know. Hot, isn’t he? Every woman in the county’s been trying to get his attention.” Bec looked up from studying the menus. “And this seems to work out for both of them.” She gave her sister a knowing look and her mouth curved in a tiny smile. “Go on and introduce yourself to him, Soph. You know Frenchy always had a soft spot for you. You can ask him to pass along your greetings.”
“No.” Sophia shook her head. “No need to.”
“Chicken. Don’t tell me you’re afraid of a good looking man.”
“Of course not.” She buried herself in the menu.
“Come on.” Rebecca set her menu down and pushed against Logan to slide out of the booth. “Let’s go say hello. It will take your mind off the meeting we just had.” She made a face. “And the one tomorrow morning. Besides, I want to ask about his almost-uncle.”
“I don’t think—”
“Right. Don’t think.” She grabbed her sister’s hand and practically dragged her out of the booth. “He doesn’t bite. I promise.”
Sophia reluctantly let herself be towed across the room by her sister. Her instincts were telling her she was stepping into a danger zone.
Get it together, Black. He’s just some bartender in a town you’ll never be in again after this gig.
The man was polishing a small area of the bar with a cloth when Rebecca rapped on the heavy wood to get his attention.
“Saw you come in, Bec.” His voice had a low, smoky sound to it. “You surely do bring this place some class.”
Rebecca laughed. “Well, now you can double it. This is my sister. Sophia Black, meet Clint Beaudine.”
He dropped the rag, swiped his hand on the leg of his jeans and held it across the bar. “The pleasure is all mine.”
Sophia put her small hand in his large one and nearly jumped at the electric shock that ran through her arm and into her body. She looked at Clint and saw the same reaction reflected in his eyes, an amber-flecked hazel. He squeezed her hand lightly before releasing it.
“A real pleasure.” His words were like a caress skating over her skin.
Sophia couldn’t take her eyes from him. She couldn’t remember a time, ever, that a man had affected her this way.

Who rules the Night? Night Seekers

The Chupacabra has been a legend for decades, stretching from South America to North America, sighted in many place. Ranchers swore they’d killed it only to have it turn out to be a mutated goat or coyote. And the killing spree continued—animals and humans alike. Was it a wolf because of the way the bodies were mutilated? Or a vampire, because each body and three puncture wounds at the neck and was drained of blood? Each time someone was sure he had killed the beast it turned out to be a false alarm, because the killings continued. And the legend continued to grow.
When billionaire Jason Stafford’s wife and daughter were killed by the legendary bloodthirsty Chupacabra and none of the state or federal agencies could trace the half man/half animal, he funded his own team. He chose carefully from the best law enforcement agencies as well as the private sector across the country. Six of the eight selected are shifters themselves, each representing a wolf pack whose members had fallen prey to killers. Each one of them had also been affected by the beast and so had personal reasons to find and kill it. Known simply as The Night Seekers (because they hunt most effectively at night), they work from an isolated ranch property in Texas, with all the latest high tech equipment and any other resources they might need. Their only mission: find and stop the Chupacabra, the bloodthirsty animal who not only kills but literally destroys his victims with his teeth and nails, and has given rise to so many legends. But first they have to discover how their target moves so easily around the entire country, and sift through the hundreds of files compiled on the many cases and sightings.
Driven by the thirst for revenge and the need to satisfy their lust, each member of the team will have his or her own story, one liberally packed with erotic sex, and in the course of the mission will find a relationship that brings stability to their lives. And with each relationship, the team continues to grow.

Team Members

Jonah Grey: former FBI, a loner and a shifter. The Chupacabra killed the human he was about to mate with
Mark Stafford: former sheriff’s deputy from a Texas border county and also a shifter. The Chupacabra killed his closest friend
Sophia Black: former detective with the State of Maine Highway Patrol. The Chupacabra killed her twin nephews.
Chelsea Roland: private investigator and a shifter. The Chupacabra killed her sister. In the course of her investigation she meets another shifter adrift from his pack, a hunter who frightens her at first.

Excerpt From Vampire Dreams

My new novella, Vampire Dreams, available at Amazon, All Romance eBooks, and Smashwords is out now.  Here's an excerpt:

Excerpt:
Brandon knew by midnight all in the house would be asleep, including Arden. He remained at his desk in his study, waiting patiently as the minutes ticked away. When the grandfather clock in the parlor announced midnight, he quietly ascended the stairs to her bedroom.
Once inside her room, he stood with his back pressed to the door watching her. How beautiful she was in sleep! As beautiful as during waking hours. As the glow of the moon streamed in and bathed her in its light, he was reminded of the vision of her the night before and told himself she was a natural child of the night.
She remained asleep, and as he watched, aroused by her peacefulness, his passions created a storm in him he struggled to control. So innocent, yet so desirable.
He’d purposefully avoided her since waking, sure his need for her would be met by the response of a proper lady. No, he’d have her this way and wait for her to come to him.
Almost timidly, as if what he might find may cause him to lose control of his desire, he peeled back the blanket and sheet to reveal her body covered only by a thin white nightgown. Mere fabric was all that stood between his desires and sweet satisfaction.
He stopped a moment as she unconsciously recognized the change in her sleep, and when she stilled, he sat silently on the bed next to her to study her. She was so delicate—how would she respond to his touch?
Struggling to restrain himself, he gently touched the soft collar of her nightgown and tugged on the silk ribbon at her neck. Opened, it revealed a tease of what was to come. One by one, he untied the ribbons that held the fabric closed, until he’d revealed her beautiful breasts and body.
How he wanted her! That it must be like this for now he accepted, but he eagerly awaited the time when she’d choose to come to him. In a whisper, he spoke the chant that would awaken her as if in a dream.
When she opened her eyes and gazed up at him with a knowing look, his heart pounded against his chest in fear that the enchantment hadn’t worked and she was conscious of him. But soon he saw her eyes cloud over with passion as she reached out for him and searched for his mouth with hers.

Vampire Dreams Release

Hi everyone!  My name is Gabrielle Bisset.  Thanks to everyone who's here and to Judy and Marianne for hosting this wonderful party.

I write erotic romance that's steamy and sensual, whether it be novella or novel length.  My new novella, Vampire Dreams is out now.  Here's a taste:

Homeless and without any family, Arden Stephens must live on the streets of mid 19th century London, never a safe place for a young woman.  One night, as she is running for her life from an attacker, she is rescued by Brandon Ridley and offered a place in his home as his maid.  Brandon is enchanted by Arden from the moment they meet, but just as she has secrets, so too does he.  A vampire hundreds of years old, he yearns for the companionship she can give him.  But for that he must make her one of his kind.

Nightly, he visits her in her sleep, preparing her for the night he will finally make her his own.  For Arden, the wanton dreams she has about her handsome employer seduce her and each day when she wakes up, she finds herself more drawn to him.  But love and desire aren't enough for Brandon to sire her.  He must first obtain the approval of his maker, an ancient vampire named Vasilije who has thwarted his chance for happiness before.

But if Brandon can convince him, he may finally find the love he's been without for centuries.

You can find Vampire Dreams at Amazon, All Romance eBooks, and Smashwords.  Be sure to check back later this morning for an excerpt from the book and this afternoon for a chance to win a copy.

Get DEAD SEXY and Show a Zombie Some Love!

Readers often ask me how I come up with ideas for my books, so I thought I'd give you a little behind-the-scenes peek at how I came up with my new release, a paranormal erotic romance from Ellora's Cave called DEAD SEXY.

Before I say anything else though, isn't that cover too hot for words?! When the art department sent it to me, I probably gazed at it for a good ten minutes in mouth-drooling appreciation before I could email them back telling the artist it not only rocked, but totally fit the book. The hero is "Dead Sexy," after all!

Okay, back to the story and how I came up with it. First, to set the stage, I need to share a little something with you about myself. Well, about my hubby and me, actually. We love zombie movies, from the George Romero gems to Shaun of the Dead and everything in between, including "Walking Dead," the new series on AMC. You just can't go wrong with a movie full of walking dead people, can you? Well, if you've ever seen a zombie movie (or even you haven't), then you know the creatures aren't the heroes of the film. I mean, how can they be, right? They're all dead and decayed and downright unattractive, not to mention pretty damn scary. Which was why you can imagine my surprise when my hubby suggested I write an erotic romance about a zombie hero. I was like, you're kidding, right? What woman in her right mind would fall in love with a dead guy? No way could that possibly work, or so I thought.

Turns out, my hubby wasn't kidding. In fact, he started working up ideas for the story.

"The hero didn't have to be a zombie all the time," he told me. "Think outside the box - take a little literary license!"

Okay, I thought. I suppose I could be open minded.

My hubby told me that in his out-of-the-box world, the hunky hero got cursed by an evil Voodoo priestess and only turns into a zombie sometimes.

"I'm listening," I said.

"And when he does go zombie, he doesn't have to be like the kind in the movies," my hubby added. "Well, he has to look like one, you know all dead and stuff, but he doesn't have to be a mindless creature or attack humans or eat anything gross."

So, brains are completely out, thanks goodness!

"Think Jensen Ackles or Jared Padelecki, with a really, really, really dark tan - (yes, my hubby knows I've got a thing for the Supernatural hunks!) - well, maybe more gray and black than tan, but you get the idea."

I thought about that for a minute. "So, the hero's dead, but he's still sexy, is that what you're saying?"

"Exactly," he said, giving me a grin as my eyes lit up with understanding.

By that point, my hubby had pretty much sold me on the idea. Of course, I knew if I ran with it, I was going to have to sell it to a publisher, and I knew that could be tough since the hero is a zombie. But I ran with it anyway and ended up with a full-length novel. And it came out pretty damn good, if I do say so myself! I still had to find a publisher for it, though.

About this same time, It just so happens that several of my other books were in the process of being picked up by Ellora's Cave and I thought what the heck? Why not pitch it to my editor there and see what she thinks? So I did, and she told me to send it to her. She was interested to see how I handled the whole zombie-thing. Well, long story, short, she liked it. A lot! My zombie romance with it's dead-sexy hero had a home! I was thrilled and my hubby walked around for a week with a smug, "I-told-you-so" look on his face.

I've been getting the word out there about DEAD SEXY ever since I signed the contract for it and I'm thrilled with the interest from readers who can't wait to get their hands on it! I can't wait for them to read it, too!

Now that I've revealed the story behind the story, I thought I'd share the blurb and an excerpt just to whet your appetite for more!

Blurb:

Romance author Simone Kent thinks she might just have found the most perfect guy in all of New York City - in bed and out. But Drake Parrish is about as far from perfect as any man can get. Eight years ago, he was cursed by an evil Voodoo priestess to live part of his life as a zombie. Since then, he has lived like a recluse on New York’s Upper East Side, afraid to go out for fear he’ll suddenly turn into one of the walking dead.

The sex is the hottest either of them has ever experienced and Simone discovers just how naughty she can be with Drake, while he finds himself feeling things for her that he hasn’t felt in a very long time. When the Voodoo priestess learns of their relationship, however, she comes after him again. She is determined to make sure he won’t have a future with Simone, even if that means killing both him and the woman he loves.

Excerpt:

As she led him up the steps to the second floor, Drake found himself wondering if she would ask him in. And wondering what he’d say if she did. When they came to a stop outside the door to her apartment, Simone turned to give him a smile.

“I had a great time tonight.”

“Me, too.”

She caught her bottom lip between her perfect white teeth and chewed on it thoughtfully as if unsure what she wanted to say next. It was probably an unconscious gesture, something she did whenever she was thinking, but to him, it was sexy as hell and all he could think about was kissing her.

Surely, one kiss couldn’t hurt. He desperately wanted to. He hadn’t kissed a woman in so long. It would be nice to see if he still remembered how.

Before he could stop himself, Drake tilted Simone’s face up to his and pressed his mouth to hers.

She tasted just as sweet and delicious as he thought she would. Her lips were soft and pliant under his as she kissed him back, her tongue eagerly seeking his out.

Drake groaned and slid his hand into her hair, deepening the kiss. Simone sighed into his mouth, running her hands up the front of his shirt to grasp his shoulders. The feel of her touch was like a tonic to his deprived soul and he let out another groan, deeper this time.

He ran his free hand up her side and around to her breast, cupping it through the soft material of her dress. He couldn’t stop himself and apparently, Simone didn’t want him to. She moaned and arched against him. He could feel the heat of her pussy through their clothes as she pressed up against his hard cock. Damn, she felt good.

Drake drew her bottom lip into his mouth and gently suckled on it before slowly kissing his way along the delicate curve of her jaw. Simone clutched his shoulders and tilted her head back. He eagerly trailed a path of hot kisses down her neck, then back up, his mouth finding hers again. Simone looped her arms around his neck, pulling him in even closer as their tongues met.

Down the hall, a door slammed, reminding him where they were.

Drake dragged his mouth away from hers, his breathing ragged as he tried to regain control. He had to get it together because he was about five seconds away from doing something really stupid. Like taking her to bed. “I should go.”

Her lips curved into a sexy, flirtatious smile. “Or you could stay.”

God, how he wanted to. But as much as he’d love to spend the rest of the night exploring every inch of her body, he couldn’t take the chance he might go zombie on her right in the middle of sex. Talk about coitus interruptus, And it had already been almost four days since he last turned, which meant he was already pushing his luck.

“You don’t know how much I want to,” he groaned. “But I can’t.”

Simone looked up at him with those big, blue eyes. “Why not?”

“Because I…” He hesitated, trying to come up with something that would sound believable. “I have a column due in the morning and I haven’t even started on it yet.” She knew all about deadlines, so she would understand that. Besides, he did have a column to write, it just wasn’t due until next week. “Rain check?”

She looked disappointed, but she smiled anyway. “Absolutely. How does coming over for dinner tomorrow night sound?”

It would be crazy to agree when he could be so close to having an episode, but he couldn’t say no. Not when she asked in that soft, sultry voice. “Sounds great.”

“Good. Be here at seven.”

“Seven it is.”

She pulled him down for another long, slow kiss on the mouth. “Don’t be late.”

His mouth twitched. “I won’t.” He bent his head to kiss her again, then groaned. “If I don’t go now, I’ll be here all night.”

Simone laughed. “Would that be such a bad thing?”

“Not to me, but my editor at Money Issues might not be too understanding when he doesn’t find my column sitting in his inbox tomorrow.”

She sighed. “Deadlines can be a real pain in the butt sometimes. Okay, go home and write your column. I’ll cuddle up with a bowl of ice cream instead.”

He chuckled. “Sounds better than taking a cold shower, which is what I’m going to be doing when I get home.” He closed his mouth over hers once more. “See you tomorrow night, beautiful.”

Resisting the urge to pull her into his arms again, Drake turned and walked down the hallway toward the stairwell. At the top of the steps, he glanced over his shoulder to see Simone standing where he’d left her, a sexy curve to her lips.

It took every ounce of strength he possessed not to go back and pin her against the door for one more long, lingering kiss. God, what he wouldn’t give to spend the night with her. Man, it was going to take more than a cold shower to get her out of his head.
