Till Abandon Excerpt w/language

Here for your pleasure is the opening of Till Abandon, my paranormal novella from Total-E-Bound. Hope you like Voltaire, she's a 'live one'.

"Will you fucking die already?" Voltaire pressed the right heel of her gold Zanotti’s into the bullet hole in the man’s neck. The idiot keeping her from her date struggled—a futile effort, if she did say so herself. His cobalt-blue eyes stared up at her from his position on the floor, pleading for mercy while his body twitched. Wet sounds gurgled in his throat, then he coughed. Dark red blood flew everywhere, dotting the back of her heel and running like a red stream down the corner of his mouth. Pink tears leaked from his eyes.
"Damn it, now look what you’ve done." She lifted her foot off his throat to inspect the damage to her shoe. "I bought these today, specially for this occasion, and you go and fuck them up."
Men. Can’t train them, or horsewhip them in the middle of the street. What the hell is there left to do? Kill ‘em.
She knelt beside the man, who was getting bluer by the minute, and shook her head. "You know, that colour does great things for your skin tone." She grabbed the sleeve of his white shirt and wiped off her heel. Blood pooled under him, sinking into the plush, grey carpet. She glanced up at the digital clock on his desk. He had some fabulous things in this office—she’d take a tour of the house if she wasn’t so damned strapped for time.
Hah, strapped.
A dull buzzing started on the left side of her skull, annoying as a mosquito.
"Will you stop already with the fucking mind control? You’ve been trying it all night, and has it worked?" She lifted an eyebrow and projected her thoughts to him. Obviously not. You pissed off the Council and they’ve marked you for extinction. She bared her teeth. "Unfortunately for you, they gave you to me as a going away gift."
Tugging the bowie knife from her ankle strap, she slashed his throat with a flick of her wrist.
"That’s for taking up so much of my goddamn time."
She fished the disposable cell phone from the back pocket of her jeans and pulled off her black gloves with her teeth. Hitting the redial button, she straightened and stepped delicately over the body on her way to the door.
"Yes?"
"It’s done."
Voltaire paused at the threshold and took one last look over her shoulder to admire her handiwork. Damn, sometimes she astonished even herself. The married father of four hadn’t batted an eye when she’d sent him a drink at the bar then offered herself to him for the night. She gave him bonus points for not taking her to his marital home. Apparently Mr Moneybags kept an apartment downtown for his nightly hook-ups.
Fucking men. Is nothing sacred anymore? Sure, she’d been paid a couple of mil to kill him, but still.

Tasty Tasty, Very Very Tasty!

If you can finish off that jingle it probably says a lot about you!

Anyway, hello! I'm Victoria Blisse and I'm about to share a hot excerpt from my latest release , Tasty Italian. Just to start proceedings off with a bang!

“All right then, I’ll see you next week.”

She shuffled forwards anticipating Carlo opening the door, but he stepped back. They crashed into one another.

“Oh, sorry.” He grabbed Fiona around the tops of her arms. “I’m so clumsy.”

“No, no, it was my fault,” she replied, holding her hands in fists as she fought the urge to reach around his waist and pull him close. “I’m sorry.”

“An accident.” He grinned, then leant forward to kiss one cheek then the other.

Fiona’s skin blossomed with heat with each touch of his lips, her nostrils flared to take in his spicy, male scent and her hands trembled with withheld desire.

“See you next week, Fiona.”

She expected him to pull back away but he didn’t. His gaze focused on her lips and split seconds before he did it she realised he was going to kiss her properly. She would have panicked but she didn’t have the time so she just accepted the press of his lips against hers.

If she had thought she felt hot before she was greatly mistaken. When his lips touched hers she felt as if her body was on fire. She pressed her lips harder against his to ease the burning in her veins but a moment later he pulled back just as she expected the kiss to deepen.

“Bye,” she whispered, her voice hoarse and her throat dry. She thought that maybe Italians did two cheek kisses and a snog as a regular thing.

She didn’t expect him to shuffle closer, to push his body to hers and kiss her with a passion that blew her mind and flooded her pussy with arousal.

When he did pull away she was speechless. He just winked and guided her out of the door.

Wow. She was pretty certain that was not just a friendly kiss goodbye.

She couldn’t possibly be imagining the heat between them, could she? Fiona knew that Italian men were extravagant with their affection. Maybe he was just naturally flirtatious. Maybe the heat of the late June evening made her think crazy things.

The sun hadn’t been down for long and the stifling heat of the day still lingered. There was a light, pleasant breeze and she enjoyed the gentle caress on her bare arms as she walked down the street to her car. She rarely got time to enjoy the short English summer as she was inside the store from early morning until late at night. Not for the first time she wondered why she persisted in the job at hand and admitted to herself that if she wasn’t so worried about her bills she would have given it up months ago.

The year had been tough for Fiona though on paper it looked pretty good. She’d got her promotion and a raise, had moved to a terraced house from a flat. In reality she’d suffered from a very serious broken heart when her fiancĂ© told her it was all over and he had found his real soul mate. He left her and flew fly half way round the world to be with some tart he’d met online. Fiona had to put the flat on the market just six weeks later. He came home to tell her that he was going to marry his new bit of fluff and move to Australia to be with her. He wanted his half of the money he’d put into their shared home in England.

The flat sold quickly. Fiona used her new managerial position to purchase a house and a hefty mortgage to go with it. She had her new start but felt lonelier than ever rattling ‘round her two up two down. She worked hard to bury her emotions and most days she was asleep before she could begin to think about all the sadness she had inside. But when everything caught up with her she felt fat, unloved and alone.

She had taken forever to find someone who accepted her as she was. Steve had been her first boyfriend, her first kiss, her first everything. He saw past her dress size to the funny, sexy, bubbly woman underneath. Fiona was an upbeat girl. She didn’t let her size hold her back. She’d tell people she was happy and that diets were for losers but behind all the bravado she was just a lonely big girl with a need to feel loved and accepted just as she was.

She’d like to travel, see some of the world. Her mind flicked back to Carlo and his soft lips on hers. She wondered what visiting Italy might be like. He was going to go home at the end of term, Roberto had told her so. Maybe Carlo would take her with him, sweep her off her feet and rescue her from her mundane existence.

At first she thought that the voice calling her name was merely her imagination but on the second call she realised it was real. She stopped just before she reached her car and looked over her shoulder.

Carlo was running down the street with a small cardboard box in his hand. “Cara mia, you forgot your cake.” He panted slightly as he pushed the box into her hand.

“Oh, I did, didn’t I? I’m sorry. You didn’t need to chase after me, though.” She turned to unlock her car.

“No, I had to. Roberto ordered it so, but also I wanted to speak to you.”

“Oh yes?” She dropped the cake box into her car with her handbag without caring where they landed. What did you want to tell me?”

“I wanted you to know that the words I spoken earlier were really real, not just Italian hot air. I think you are so very beautiful and I would like to know more of you.”

“Oh.” She was lost for words. She didn’t know what to say. She wanted to tell him to kiss her, to ravage her right there but her mouth just wouldn’t work.

“Fiona?” He put his hand on her arm, “Are you all right? I can go if you’re not, how do you say? If you do not want me.”

“No, Carlo, no.” She took a shuddering breath. “It’s not that, I do want you. I do, I’m surprised to hear you say it.”

“I must be losing my touch,” he said as he stepped closer to her. “I was trying my best to seduce you.”

Launch Party: Worth Dying For print release!

Hi Everyone! My name is Luxie Ryder. I want to thank everyone for attending the party and a big thank you to Judy and Marianne for being such wonderful hosts!

I write what I like to call 'Sexy Stories for Real Women!' and I want to take the opportunity today to tell you about a couple of my new releases.

First up, Worth Dying For, which I am pleased to announce is now available in print!

Blurb:
Is a vampire's love worth dying for?

Malachi Bane had been condemned to live forever without the woman he would love until the day he died. He waits out eternity in isolation, on a small island in the Maine Archipelago. When a visiting couple threatens his peaceful existence, Bane prepares to kill them if he has to, in order to defend his home and protect his privacy. Instead, he is compelled to save the life of the woman he has become strangely fascinated with, not realising the consequences of his actions at first.

Amber Kirkwood isn't impressed by Bane's macho attitude and has no idea how she got embroiled in the mess her life has become. Her rescue from the island and subsequent arrest for her colleague David's unexplained death, sets off a chain of events she has no control over and no desire to be a part of. On top of that, she is then kidnapped by Bane and held hostage so he can protect her from Katerina, the vengeful female who created him and has never forgiven him for leaving her.

When the physical and emotional bonds begin to grow between the unlikely couple, Bane longs to 'change' Amber, in order to save her life and keep her with him forever. But she fears for her immortal soul and, with so much at stake, Amber can't be sure that what she feels for Bane truly is worth dying for.

Reader Advisory: This book contains moderate horror and mild scenes of violence.

Excerpt:
Amber’s mind had stopped automatically rejecting every new thing it was being forced to deal with.

Travelling at speed across the gulf in a small inflatable boat—propelled only by the power of a superhuman being—was insane enough. She laughed, then cried, then laughed again as she watched his huge arms powering through the water, the moonlight glistening along his wet skin the only reason she could see him at all. The motion forced her to relax and the gentle sway of the dinghy as it glided almost silently across the ocean lulled her to sleep.

Bane apologised when he woke her up and, despite her protests, refused to let her walk. The terrain they encountered minutes later would have been impassable even in daylight and she found herself admitting that he’d been right to insist on carrying her on his back again.

A fog had rolled over the hillsides, smothering the ground. It swirled around Bane’s feet and rolled up towards her, evaporating against the heat of her legs and leaving small drops of water instead to soak into her clothing. The trees around them frightened her, seeming like dark, hulking shadows waiting to attack. Amber closed her eyes and clung on tighter. Every night she’d ever spent on this island had terrified her.
The mist cleared higher up the mountain, disappearing altogether by the time they reached a dense patch of trees covering the entrance to a cave. The foliage rendered the opening invisible from only a few feet away. Bane carried her to the lip and she clutched at him in fear. The mouth of the cave looked dark and bottomless and Amber tensed as he walked towards the edge without hesitation.

“You’re safe,” he said, as if sensing how afraid the idea of going in there with him made her. “You’ll like it inside. I promise.”

He stepped off into the void. She screamed and clutched at his shoulders, squeezing her eyes tight shut. A gentle bouncy feeling told her they had landed seconds before he put her down in the darkness.
Amber suddenly knew what it would feel like to be deaf, blind and vulnerable as she waited in the pitch black. An overhead light came on without warning, causing her to scream again. Bane stepped away from her, a frown on his face as he rubbed his ear.

“I’ve got really sensitive hearing,” he said when he caught her looking at him. “If you can help it, try not to scream in here. The sound is intensified and it’s agony for me.”

So, he had a weakness. Amber couldn’t help but relish the fact. She stored the information away for future use, empowered by the knowledge. Bane’s quiet laughter drew her attention back to him.

“I said it was agony, not that I couldn’t tolerate it, so you can forget whatever you are thinking behind those pretty green eyes of yours.”

The urge to hit him almost overwhelmed her. Smug…arrogant…domineering. The words raced through her head and she bit her lip against the desire to scream them at him for as long and as loud as she could. Let him be the victim for a change. Let him wish someone gave a damn about how he felt. But he walked away, forcing her to forget the pathetic mutiny she was planning and follow him through a narrow corridor into the living area.

“Wow. Where’s Ursula Andress?” she muttered under her breath, smothering a laugh when what looked like a secret, underground lair from a James Bond movie came into view.
The centre of the cave rose cathedral like above the modern, sparsely furnished living area. A couple of leather sofas lined the walls and an entertainment centre with a large flat screen TV dominated another. The opposite side of the room had been turned into an enormous storage space filled with thousands of books. Amber estimated it had to be twenty feet tall by almost as wide, with shelves carved out of the rock face.

“Sit down.” He didn’t wait for her reply and gave her a gentle shove.

“This is crazy.”

“What did you expect?”

“I don’t know. Bearskin rugs and a log cabin, I guess.”

Bane snorted. “Like some kind of savage, I suppose?”
