The Galloping Ghoul of Hockomock Swamp by Eden Glenn

Well, dear friends.
Continuing with the theme of sharing how my wacky imagination works. This story came about like a flash. Rebel Ink Press put out the call for shorts for an anthology they were doing on twisted tales due to come out in time for Halloween.  I knew I wanted to participate and what's the classic halloween story if not the headless horseman?  That was the launch point. A "What if?" followed by "What If?" and another "What IF?" and there you have it.

Rebel Ink Press has been gracious enough to publish this story under it's own cover. What a Brilliant cover it is!

Blurb:

The Galloping Ghoul rides each full moon, exacting revenge by frightening those who tormented his past. By day, he is one of the town people, Nathaniel Hawkins, an affluent entrepreneur. He identifies with Ike Sandhill, a government surveyor, and wants to protect him from the same thugs who drove Nathaniel to revenge. Ike goes to the extreme to prove to everyone how straight laced he is. He pursues Misty VonMix with the intention of marriage. Nathaniel doesn't know how to confess his desire without driving Ike away. He comes up with a plan of seduction. Before the night is over Ike discovers things about himself he always knew, yet denied.

(DRAFT)
Massachusetts, 1790
Somewhere in the Bridgewater Triangle, old wives tell tales in hushed tones about strange lights in the sky and the Galloping Ghoul of Hockomock Swamp. They say the specter rides on the night of the full moon. They don’t know what drives him to haunt unsuspecting travelers. Those who’ve crossed his path flee in fear for their lives. If the victims know why he rides, they never say.

. . .
Nathaniel drew closer in the deadly race. The gap closed but not fast enough and his heart jolted when the tired animal stumbled.
“Socrates!” Ike shouted the encouragement to his floundering steed.
Nathaniel struggled to rescue Ike from himself. He didn’t have time to calculate a fancy plan. He just needed one that would work. His options were limited but inspiration with a dose of blind luck seldom failed him. He threw back the cloak of his headless ghoul disguise, surprised the costume survived the mad race. The muskmelon head he carried to aid his full moon revelry would be forfeit. “Mother luck, do not fail me now.” Nathaniel lobbed the ball shaped fruit at Ike’s ridiculous hat  to save the life of the man he’d benefactored, secretly lusted after and suspected he loved.
He watched in horror as the horse hit the mud. Simultaneously the horse stumbled into the muck and the melon impacted Ike’s head sending the man tumbling ass over ears into a thicket of bushes. Pulling on Augustus’ reins, Nathaniel jumped while his horse slid to a stop. He leaped to the ground as the wretched Socrates miraculously scrambled to safety on the opposite bank of bog.
Nathaniel collapsed to his knees by Ike, unmindful of the sharp sting of sticks slicing thru his britches. Prickly bramble bushes had cushioned the surveyor’s fall. Nathaniel’s shaky hand quested for a pulse and calmed at the pounding rhythm of life under his fingers. He untangled Ike from the vines, fighting to inflict minimal damage from the biting briers.
. . .
Augustus stood patiently while Nathaniel hoisted Ike’s lanky frame up into the saddle and mounted behind to support his unconscious burden. The flight brought them to the borders of Nathaniel’s estate.
“Time to go home, Augustus.”
Nathaniel’s pulse pounded at the proximity of Ike in the saddle, his head resting on Nathaniel’s shoulder. How badly he wanted to brush the wayward lock of golden hair back from the man’s brow. No more hiding. Before the night was over Nathaniel would be sure Ike Sandhill knew his full intentions. He couldn’t go on in this limbo half-life watching from afar. By dawn, they would both be changed men. He prayed he could convince Ike to take what he had to offer, to take a chance, to take something, anything from him.

Raynia's Magic by Eden Glenn (R rated Promo & Excerpt)

Okay, I promised you a glimpse into how I think about things and what inspires me. This was it for "Raynia's Magic"

I was looking at necklaces with a purple slab of agate stone, amethyst like in nature. From touching the object a story seed took off in my imagination and Raynia's Magic was born. Raynia's Magic ties into a full length novel I have as a work in progress.  Raynia is one of the customers in the store Salynne's Crystals and Thyme. She has a cameo appearance as an unnamed customer in the work in progress.  Thinking about her touching the stone made it all come together for this novellette telling her story.

Blurb:
Raynia's Magic
Raynia Castellano is drawn to purchase an amethyst pendant as an impulse buy but not before the clerk assures Raynia the magic is in the woman, not the necklace that seems to call to her. And given Raynia has just left an adulterous ex-husband and has recently settled into a law practice with her oh so sexy and oh so apparently gay law partners, surely a little magic is required.

Excerpt:
Just the view of Raynia’s Marilyn Monroe curves awakened his cock and started an inevitable hard-on. As she turned for her office, the view of her heart shaped ass finished stiffening his erection to a painful thickness trapped in his briefs.

The side door of his and Chase’s connecting offices opened and his partner watched him with a grin and similar evidence in the form of a tented crotch in his trousers.

“I can’t suffer like this much longer.” He pulled out the chair and sat down, adjusting his pants and cock to a less uncomfortable position.

Chase leaned in the opening of the door. “You’re the one who had the bright idea to let her think we’re gay.”

Chase pushed away from the doorframe and crossed the room to lean over Peter’s chair. He punctuated his words with forefinger jabs to Peter’s chest. “Yes, well our little butterfly is emerging and if we don’t do something soon another bee is going to be dipping into that honey.”

Peter slapped Chase’s hand away. “Didn’t anyone ever brief you on the concept of metaphors and explain--what you do with them should be grounds for incarceration.”

I hope you will enjoy the humor, erotic enjoyment and a touch of suspense in this novellette.

Eden Glenn Erotic Romance Author, Accidently?

Hello all you Goddess Fish Fans.

I am an erotic romance author and I come by that avocation, accidently. I started writing when I was sick with cancer in 2005. Yea! I am a survivor. My first epic is a science fiction romance and virtually unreadable, unprintable and incoherent. LOL But that first fledgling product helped me believe in happy endings... in a time that was scarce and empty of promise. It also in a round about way brought me to Romance Writers of America and an association with a group of wonderful men and women writing genre' fiction. Those friend encouraged me to continue writing and never give up.

At my very first romance writers chapter meeting in Florida I was asked "What do you write?" I thought the obvious answer was romance??? However, that was the beginning of a long journey understanding all the divisions and subgenre divisions and genre blending divisions.  It is enough to make your head spin.

I always thought I wrote paranormal romance.  Funny thing. My two published works with Rebel Ink Press are anything but paranormal.  "The Galloping Ghoul of Hockomock Swamp" is actually an erotic m/m historic romance and "Raynia's Magic" is an erotic contemporary menage romance. LOL Okay, a common thread is the erotic part. My stories have a common theme of being about relationships that aren't your typical fair and dip into exploring the erotic natures of my characters.

People often ask about my creative process and where I gain inspiration. I think that is a polite way of asking where in the world I come up with some of these bizarre stories. Doubt me? Some evening, chatting over wine ask me about the story lurking around in my head about the hero with two penises.  He is alien of course.

Shhh, the secret is? I never know what will inspire me. I'll tell you what helped the two short Novellette stories Rebel Ink Press has published in a little bit.

For now, I make my home in the mountains of Tennessee. I love it here. I miss my Florida Friends terrible. I'm working on making friends here. I am happily exploring the area and riding my motorcycle. I am excited about the possibilities of possiblities.
