Meet Madi from One Tear and Enter Our GIVEAWAY

Today I’d like to introduce you to Madison Melbourne from One Tear. Thanks for agreeing to join in the festivities today, Madi!

So let’s get started, because I know the readers here really want to know…

Everything about you! Tell us, where did you grow up? Is that the only place you’ve ever lived or have you moved around?

Hi, Denisea! Gee, I’ve not seen you since you typed The End. Hope you’ve been doing well. J Hey, readers! So happy to be here. Let’s see…I grew up just outside of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, home to a fairly large military training facility. That’s where I met and married my first husband. I didn’t move around as much as some of my friends did, but his job did take us to Kentucky. But, circumstances dictated I would end up back in Missouri trying to rebuild my life.

What’s your current occupation?

I’m a private music instructor. I teach piano and strings. At some point though, I’d like to add horse breeder to my resume.

What’s in your refrigerator right now?

A pitcher of sweet tea, breakfast sausage from a local butcher, deli ham, cheddar cheese, leftover spaghetti, pickles, Ott’s salad dressing, a partial tube of tomato paste, milk, a half a bottle of St. James wine (Country Red), mustard, eggs, salad fixings, two containers of yogurt (one blueberry and one vanilla), cranberry juice, and a carton of Chinese take-out.

What smell do you associate with your childhood? Is it a happy smell?

The smell of homemade biscuits baking and homemade sausage frying. It is totally happy. It’s what my grandma CeCe used to make me for breakfast whenever I stayed with her.

Do you have any tattoos? What are they? If you don’t, would you consider getting one and what would it be?

I do! I have black musical notes on my shoulder.

What is your most treasured possession?

It would have been my grandmother’s piano had it not been hauled away before I could lay claim on it. But that’s material, and I’ve learned material things aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. So, I’d have to say my most treasured possessions are my relationships with my family, Rafe, and my friends.

Do you have any regrets? What are they?

Plenty, but dwelling on them doesn’t fix a thing. Besides, for every regret I have, a lesson was learned.

Do you prefer jeans or sweats? Flip-flops or sneakers?

Jeans and my ropers. And when I’m not wearing my ropers I prefer to go barefoot.

What is your greatest achievement?

Learning that I’m worthy of love.

Is there anything you’d like to tell your writer?

Thank you for telling my story and finding my soul mate. J

Meet Rafe McCarthy from One Tear and Enter Our GIVEAWAY

I’d like to introduce you to Rafe McCarthy from One Tear. Thanks, Rafe, for agreeing to answer my questions and join the party today!

You’re most welcome, Denisea. How could I turn down the request of a military wife? Do your worst, woman. I’m ready!

Well, when you put it that way, let’s get started, because our readers really want to know…

Everything about you! Tell us, where did you grow up? Is that the only place you’ve ever lived or have you moved around?

I grew up in Big Sandy, Montana, but have lived all over the place since graduating high school and making my way into the world. I’ve lived in North Carolina, California, Japan, and Missouri.

What’s your current occupation?

I’m a United States Marine.

What’s in your refrigerator right now?

Not a hell of a lot. Two bottles of beer, a slice of pizza, a few cans of Coke, a jar of spicy mustard, deli turkey and Swiss cheese, a box of Little Debbies, bacon and eggs, and some fruit cocktail—extra cherries variety. You know now why I like to eat at Madi’s house.

What smell do you associate with your childhood? Is it a happy smell?

Fresh cut hay and saddle leather. It’s a very happy smell. Reminds me of simpler times and fewer worries.

What’s a typical Saturday morning like for you?

A Marine’s inner clock doesn’t discern between week days and weekends, so I’m typically up with the sun with a cup of coffee in my hand wandering out to the barn to feed horses. Then I’ll do up my laundry which consists of PT gear and a couple sets of dirty cammies followed by whatever sports game I can find and a nap. After that, before I met Madi, I’d be heading out at dusk for the club. Now I spend my Saturday evenings with her watching scary movies and eating Chinese take-out.

Do you have any tattoos? What are they? If you don’t, would you consider getting one and what would it be?

What Marine doesn’t have tattoos? I’ve got the USMC emblem on my left shoulder and a rosary on my right. At some point I’d like to get Madi’s name etched on me somewhere, but she’s reluctant—something about bad luck. Women!

What is your most treasured possession?

Madi’s love.

Do you have any regrets? What are they?

I used to regret bachelorhood, but I realize now if I’d not prolonged settling down for so long, I’d never have met Madi. Now what I did during that time, several regrets, but can’t change it so I might as well get comfortable with living with it.

Do you prefer jeans or sweats? Flip-flops or sneakers?

I wear combat boots for a living and wouldn’t be caught dead in flip-flops. And sneakers are for running.

What is your greatest achievement?

Learning to give as much as I take.

Is there anything you’d like to tell your writer?

Lady, if you can’t make people feel! I’d love to hate you for it, but I just can’t.

HIGHLANDER'S HOPE BY COLLETTE CAMERON

A dazzling new talent debuts with a mysterious duel of suspense and of the heart.  Cameron's charismatic characters and fast-paced plot blend flawlessly for a hard-won happily ever after."

~Award winning  Regency author Regina Jeffers

I'd like to introduce you to Yvette Stapleton and Ewan McTavish, the heroine and hero of Highlander's Hope. Here's a short character interview. Enjoy!

Yvette, why did you flee Boston, MA and return to England?
I suffered a severe riding accident in December and my father and stepmother died three weeks afterward. The circumstances were suspicious. My stepbrother had been trying to court me. Naturally, I rebuffed his efforts. Though ‘tis not illegal for stepsiblings to marry, I’d simply no romantic interest in him. He was attracted to Papa’s wealth a great deal more than me. He tried to abduct me twice. The second time, some of my staff and guards were injured and killed. It was then I knew I had to flee Boston.

This question is for Yvette, as well. We’ve noticed you seem to have a penchant for naming your pets after Greek or Roman God’s. All their names begin with the letter A as well. Why?
I was quite a romantic as a young child, and so adored reading about Roman and Greek mythology. Aphrodite, my mare—she died as a result of my riding accident—was a gift to me on my twelfth birthday. My spaniels, Apollo and Artemis, I found huddled and abandoned in a shopkeeper’s doorway as tiny pups. They were so pathetic, I simply had to name them something noble. I had a pet dove when I was quite young. Her name was Aurora.

Ewan, with the duel titles of Laird of Craiglocky and Viscount Sethwick, why did you also take on the role of an agent in the Diplomatic Corps?
I have a dear friend who is the Secretary of War. Prinny ordered him to assemble an elite group of men with specialized skills for covert operations and missions. When my friend asked me to be a part of the troupe, I couldn’t refuse him. Besides, England wasn’t faring all that well in the early wars against Napoleon’s French Empire. And we’d a spy in our midst at the War Office. My specialty is ousting spies.

Ewan, you have a rather large number of relatives that reside at Craiglocky Keep. Can you tell us about them?
I do indeed. My mother married my father’s best friend, Hugh Ferguson. He is also the steward of Craiglocky. They had four children together. I have three younger sisters, Adaira, Isobel, and Seonaid, and a younger brother, Dugall. Hugh’s sister and brother-in-law drowned when their ship sank nearly five-and-ten years ago. Their two children, Aubry and Callum, came to live with us. Callum married a year ago and his bride, Lilias, and their new-born daughter also reside at the keep. Finally, my paternal uncle, Duncan, his wife Kita, and my two gargantuan cousins, Gregor and Alasdair, live there too.

This question is for both of you. When did you first know you loved the other?

Ewan?
Yvette captivated me from our very first dance at her cousin’s wedding reception. But it was when she toppled into my lap in the carriage the day I rescued her from the docks that I knew I felt something powerful for her.

Yvette?
I think I first started to love Ewan when he talked of his family. He obviously adored them. He risked his life, more than once, to keep me safe and that stirred something in me. I didn’t admit, even to myself, I loved him until I was abducted and thought I was going to die.
