Here’s another excerpt from ELLA’S COUGAR—Available NOW!
His cousin’s mate had always been cheerful and friendly, but now that she and Ethan were mated, the woman bubbled, even when she wasn’t saying anything. Though he kept his distance most of the time—being around a newly mated couple depressed most unmated shifters—Max never failed to make him smile. Her energy and joy was contagious, and he adored her company. She was the perfect mate for Ethan.

This time though, her presence couldn’t push away whatever he was feeling. He felt as though his heart was breaking, but how could it? Why today? Over the years he’d learned to accept his status. He would forever be alone, never part of a mated pair.

Unlucky enough to meet his mate when he was twelve years old, he’d been dealing with his situation for almost fifteen years. An anomaly in the shifter world, he’d only survived by the sheer will to live and beat the odds. Work, his cousin and their family, and now their new friends, helped him fight the depression and loneliness that threatened nearly every day.

Though he and Ethan were raised in the same home, shared by both families, most shifters lived alone until they found their mates. Many times, if a mate wasn’t found, a shifter could sink deep into a black hole of depression and never emerge. It wasn’t unheard of for an unmated shifter to die of loneliness.

A mated shifter that didn’t claim their mate faced the same risks as an unmated one. His feelings had been easier to control because he met her when they were only children, but once found, both shifters and their mates experience extreme and often confusing desires toward each other.

He’d often wondered what it had been like for her, meeting him so young and watching him change from an animal to a boy and back.

Let’s Do Another #Giveaway—CANDI’S BUCK!

CANDI’S BUCK is Book 4 in the Chestnut Rock Series!

Here’s the blurb for CANDI’S BUCK:
Candi Smith spends her days working her dream job as head chef in her brother’s new restaurant. The café’s early operating hours allow her a daily walk in the forest and time to visit her special place, the alcove. When a buck starts to visit the alcove as well, she learns there’s one thing better than being alone in the forest. Candi’s feelings for the buck are confusing but they become more unusual when she meets Aiden.

Aiden Montgomery is a zoology professor and a deer shifter. His job is rewarding, but a run through the forest in his buck form is the perfect way to end to his day. Forty is fast approaching and his age, combined with his scarred leg, are reminders he isn’t worthy of a mate. He keeps the loneliness at bay by drowning in projects for work, seemingly content with his life. When he sees Candi for the first time, and recognizes her as his mate, her youth and perfection persuade him he doesn’t deserve her.

Aiden is driven to spend small amounts of time with Candi, convinced his intense feelings will be easier to control if he gets her out of his system. The plan backfires and leaves the pair unhappy, despite the love they share. He knows they can’t be together, but Aiden feels he owes Candi the truth about their connection. Candi’s not as naïve as she seems and she has her own plans for her buck.

New Release: ELLA’S COUGAR

Hi Everyone!

ELLA’S COUGAR (Chestnut Rock Shifters, Book 7) released February 3!

To find out more about Chestnut Rock--including series order, blurbs and buy links—please visit my Chestnut Rock Page on my website!

Here’s an excerpt from ELLA’S COUGAR:
Unbelievably, nothing had changed. The hotel looked just as it had in the picture. Though it didn’t show in the postcard, the buildings on either side of the main hotel were also as she remembered. To the left of the main house stood a smaller building she thought might be the owner’s home, or employee quarters. It was much larger than most houses, but the detached garage gave it a normal appearance.

To the right of the hotel, another smaller building stood. It reminded her of a warehouse, but she didn’t know its purpose. Further down on the right led to the carport. Guests used golf carts to travel the property when she’d visited, and it looked like they still did.

She tucked the postcard back into her pocket and resisted the urge to run toward the main doors of the hotel. She wasn’t exactly sure of her plan—or how she would find the man—and briefly contemplated going to the smaller house on the left.

Ella glanced toward the building again and noticed a car parked out front. As if in slow motion, the front door opened and a short woman with platinum blond hair stepped out, followed by a tall blond man carrying an infant in a car seat.

She’d always known in her heart she would know him on sight, but never once did she question his feelings.

The blond man was the boy, all grown up, and she was too late.

Her whole life, her world, shattered.

Ella turned and ran into the forest.

JENN’S WOLF ~ #Excerpt and #Giveaway!

Hi Everyone!

I’m back with an excerpt from JENN’S WOLF and a giveaway!

First the excerpt:
“Okay, Matt, you have to kiss the next girl that walks by.” His friend’s comment pulled him out of his thoughts.

“Huh?” He hadn’t been listening. They wanted him to kiss someone, but why? He didn’t go around kissing women he didn’t know.

“You lose so you have to kiss the next girl that walks by.”

“How did I lose?”

“You didn’t yell ‘not it’ like the rest of us.” They all broke out in laughter again. Oh geez, he needed to get home. Matt looked around and saw a hot blonde walking toward him. She was tall and cute. He could definitely kiss her. What if she was the one? He didn’t want to miss an opportunity, especially since he’d just been thinking about a lonely death.

He turned to face her right before she passed him.

“Can I kiss you?” He asked.

“Sure, handsome.” Her smile was genuine.

Matt stepped forward, wrapped his hands around her waist and gently touched his lips to hers. His friends were unusually silent—probably surprised he actually did it. The girl placed her hands on his shoulders and he licked her lips before sliding his tongue inside her mouth. It was a bold move, but he decided if he was stupid enough to kiss her, he might as well do a thorough job. She didn’t protest and even kissed him back.

It was nice, but the kiss did nothing for him and he broke away quickly.

“Thank you,” he said.

“Anytime, handsome.” She smiled at him again and walked toward the bar.

He smiled and tried not to lose hope. He had a blind date tomorrow night.  While he doubted she’d be the one, he hoped they’d find something to talk about over dinner.

Hi and Welcome from Jane Wakely!

Hi Everyone!

Thanx so much for joining us here! I’m Jane Wakely and I write Paranormal, Contemporary and Fantasy Romance—but Paranormal is my fave!

The last book in my Chestnut Rock Series, ELLA’S COUGAR, just released February 3! To help celebrate, the first book in the series, JENN’S WOLF, is on sale for 99 cents, February 12-14 on Amazon!

Here’s the blurb for JENN’S WOLF:
Jenn is used to being overlooked by men. She’s short, slim, shy and her past keeps her guarded against others—especially men. It also gets her labeled as having a “good personality.” When she sees Matt for the first time, she realizes he’s the first man she’s willing to take a chance on.

Matt is a wolf shifter worried that he’ll never find his mate. Without a mate, a shifter’s life is incredibly drawn-out and lonely. Willing to try anything, he agrees to a blind date with Jenn and is stunned to find out she’s his mate.

A misunderstanding interrupts their first night together and leaves them both miserable. After determining she may have overreacted, Jenn apologizes and they agree to start over. When Matt tells her about his wolf, she has to decide whether to trust her heart or run from the only man she has ever wanted.
