One for the Road - hero material

What is hero material?
The reply to that question is probably as varied as the people being asked. When I began writing ONE FOR THE ROAD, I had a guy in mind. A big guy. You know what I mean, the kind of man who enters a room and takes up a whole lot of space because he's so dang tall! Many years ago, I dated a guy who was six feet four and being a mere five feet four, it was impossible to dance with him. Even on my tippy toes, my chin came somewhere under his shoulder, I felt like he'd swallowed me up and I was smothering in his jacket. Well, the hero in my book, Tyler White, is such a guy. Big!
Tyler White has thrown together another country band. Humbled by his downhill spiral since his one-hit wonder ten years before, he's armed with several new tunes and vows to do whatever it takes to get back into the limelight. Tyler hopes this road tour will re-ignite his non-existent career. But in order to pay the band, he needs cheap transporation.
In case you're wondering how this big hunk of a man looks, here's something close to what I had in mind.
Won't you join me on the Road? One for the Road by Lynne Marshall (www.lynnemarshall.com) available July 13th, 2011 at The Wild Rose Press and at Amazon.com

Reviewer Knocks Cover&Title but Commends Content of "My Life as a Dog" by C&M Arsuaga. Erotic Paranormal Romance

Dark Haven Maven Posts Review of "My Life as a Dog". Here are excerpts of her opinion:

" ...it saddens me that people may not have a chance to experience it; because the cover or title might put them off."

"True there are funny moments in the story but this is an erotic mystery with elements of the detective genre of old.  At least that’s what my brain kept flashing back to and that’s due in part to Drake’s ‘voice’ and persona.   Does “My Life...” deserve its erotic tag?  You bet your life it does.  The heat level and sex between Drake and Kady is graphically detailed by the authors.  This is hot stuff!  This sexuality, combined with Drake’s absolute devotion to Kady, surprise revelations, and the suspense of the unknown while trying to stay alive, will hook you.   There are intense and believable emotions in this story, especially shown by Drake.
AND

" I can still happily recommend it and say to Cynthia and Michael, “here’s looking at you kids.”   I’d read a follow up tale. "

Dancing With Bear: A Love Story by Marie "Lady Bear" Marler

From a prison visiting room to the redwoods of Humboldt County, California and across the United States, Bear & Marie Marler have ministered to bikers, drug addicts, hookers, & inmates.

Author Marie "Lady Bear" Marler has written a poignant, humorous and candid book about her life with J. Bear Marler in Dancing With Bear: A Love Story, (210 pp., Dancing With Bear Publishing, paperback, release date 7/01/2011).

Dancing With Bear: A Love Story chronicles the life of Marie Marler from her days as a battered wife and living on welfare to support her children, to the visiting room of the prison at Soledad, California where she met J. Bear Marler, who was serving time for a bank robbery. After waiting four years for Bear to serve his time and eventually parole, Marie's story shows how love not only survives but also overcomes some of life's most tragic moments. From the death of Bear's sixteen-year-old daughter, Cassandra in 1992, to the struggle of raising a dozen kids, helping Bear adjust to his new life of freedom, and to the altar at Redwood Christian Center where both Bear & Marie dedicated their lives to God. This book takes the reader on a journey of hardship, loss, love, and above all, how one couple overcame a myriad of obstacles on the road to becoming ministers and evangelists who traveled the United States preaching the Gospel to hookers, bikers, inmates, & drug addicts.

New Release Party: Dancing with Bear by Marie Marler

Welcome to the New Release Party for Maria "Mama Bear" Mahler's Dancing With Bear, released today.

Let me introduce you to our author:

Marie "Lady Bear" Marler is the former married name of author Rie McGaha. She is a wife, mother, Nana, minister, and counselor. She married J. Bear Marler in 1988. Together the couple became ordained ministers in 1996, and traveled the country together preaching the Gospel to bikers, hookers, drug addicts and inmates. While Bear worked as a drug and alcohol counselor at Hoopa Human Services, Marie was a member of a Christian drama troupe and performed at churches, rescue missions, and camp meetings. She recently wrote her memoirs titled Dancing With Bear: A Love Story, that tells of her life with Bear from their meeting while he was in prison in Soledad, California until his death December 18, 2010. Although this story is written for her children, and grandchildren who will never know their Papa Bear, Marie hopes the story will be an inspiration to everyone facing trials and tribulations.

What's Dancing With Bear: A Love Story about? I'm glad you asked!! Here's the blurb:

The love of my life passed away December 18, 2011. My life will never be the same without him. I loved him with my whole heart, hook, line, & sinker, head over heels, madly, passionately in love with this man since I met him when I was 28 years old.

To honor his memory and for the future generations of our family, I have written a memoir about my life with Bear. He was wonderful, funny, and a great dancer. He never needed music to dance with me because he sang to me while we danced. And it could be anywhere at any time. He was truly one of a kind and I miss him so much the ache in my heart feels as if it will break into so many pieces they will never be put together again and make a whole heart.

Bear went home to be with the Lord. I know one day I will be with him again, but as much as I look forward to being in Heaven with my Lord and my husband, I wanted him to spend the rest of my life here with me. Without him on earth, it feels like a cold, empty space and I've cried so many tears, I'm surprised I have any left.
