As a reader I often marvel at the twists and turns in a story. As a writer, I love building up to and exploring the emotions involved in every kiss between the H/H in the story. We've all read stories of rough, bruising kisses; sweet, or innocent caresses of mouths; and scorching, hot embraces that mold & shape mouths until each ragged breath robs them of much needed oxygen.
I've used each of these expressions to demonstrate the emotions of the characters, but one of the sweetest kisses I've ever written is in my novel Tempered Dreams which deals with domestic violence and the healing that must take place before heroine, Katrina Simmons can fully love her hero, Scott Hensley.
Here it is ... the kiss of surrender.....

The fire in his eyes and the heat of his touch seared the remaining shreds of doubt and fear in Katrina’s heart. Her hands trembled when she ran them up his strong arms, across his broad shoulders and buried them in the silky thickness of his black hair. “I love you,” she whispered, a heartbeat before her lips covered his in a tender caress.
Scott knew he’d finally won. The relief was so overwhelming he could have wept.
