Return to Audubon Springs by RoseAnn DeFranco-- Interview and Giveaway

Welcome to the Party Pavilion this morning. We have a special guest-- one of our clients, RoseAnn DeFranco-- with a special interview for our Pavilion followers :-)

RoseAnn, we have some questions for you that are writer specific as well as some fun stuff so that we can really get to know the real you. *grin* Plus we will finish things off with round of Think Fast. Ready to begin?

Absolutely! This sounds like great fun. First I’d like to give a big Geeky THANK YOU for hosting me today. I have a strong background in geek. Some might even say I majored in it back in middle and high school, so I already feel right at home.

Great! Then take your shoes off, settle back, and tell us something about yourself that's not in your bio.

I played the flute for twelve years and studied vocal performance in college.

What do you like to do when you are not writing?

Most of my non-writing time is spent with my family where I play the role of Dance Mom, Soccer Mom and PTA Mom. I also work full time for a Consulting firm. I usually leave that last part out. NOTHING sexy and fun about that!

How did you choose the genres you write in?

Honestly, I think the genre chose me. I’d dabbled in a few other things, paranormal being one, but the Brothers of Audubon Springs series sort of wrote itself. Even then, I meant to write a sweeping epic drama exploring a family in crisis, recovering from grief. Instead I wrote a Humorous Contemporary Romance series centering around three brothers and their warm and loving Italian family.

Is there any particular author or book that has influenced you or your writing?

I am a big fan of Susan Wiggs and Virgina Kantra. I’ve had the pleasure of meeting both women and I’ve attended workshops they have led. I think I write in a similar style to both yet my writing possesses more of the comedic elements you’d find in a Kristan Higgans book. I fan-girl Kristan Higgans as well!

What has been the toughest criticism given to you as an author? What has been the best compliment?

I think the toughest criticism as an author is those rejections without reason. As a writer develops their craft, we are looking for creative feedback and ways to improve our work. About a year ago I won a 50 page critique from a very prolific author in my genre. She sent me the following message: “I’m wowed. You are an amazing writer. Talent oozes from your pages. The passion, the romance, the conflict, the descriptions -- you have what it takes to make it.” This piece of unsolicited feedback helped me have the courage to step forward and seek publication.

If you could have dinner with anyone, past or present, fictional or real, who would it be and why?

Jane Austen. To me she is the Godmother of all Romance Writers. While you’d never find her in the romance section of a bookstore, she wrote all the original romances. She was a strong, brilliant pioneer. I’m sure she’d have plenty in the way of words of wisdom for writers of today.

You are going to be stranded on a deserted island and bring 3 luxury items. What would they be?

A laptop with unlimited battery life or these voices inside my head will drive me bonkers waiting for me to record their stories. A big pot to cook in over an open flame, because our family motto, regardless of the circumstances is ”We’ve got to eat!” My cell phone, cuz I’m assuming my island has Wifi. This way I can make sure my hubs knows exactly where I am so he can come get me!

Pick two celebrities to be your parents. Who are they and why?

Pink, because she is crazy mad talented. You’d get away with almost anything with Pink as your mom and at the same time you’d be free to explore in your creativity. Steven Spielberg because then hopefully daddy would make my books into a movie, or at least a really cool and funny TV show.

What would we find in your refrigerator right now?

A big pot of my homemade marina sauce filled to the brim with meatballs, Italian Wedding Soup and my daughter’s birthday cake that looks like a Cake Boss creation. I should mention my mother is visiting right now. If she wasn’t you’d find the remains of a store bought rotisserie chicken, leftover instant mashed potatoes, and lots of fresh fruit and vegetables.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what do you think the title should be?

VERY cool question! The Show Must Go On! When I transitioned out of the Music Theatre world, I needed a creative outlet. Fortunately the voices in my head and they said the show must go on, so I started to write their stories!

Think Fast

Summer or Winter? Summer
Coffee or Tea? Coffee
Cake or Pie? Apple pie, my mother’s
Car or Truck? Truck
Print or Electronic? Electronic – My office is bursting with books. I keep better track of my books on my kindle!

Thanks for coming by and spending some time with us. Any final words of wisdom to pass along?

Thanks you so much for hosting me today. I had a great time answering your questions. As for words of wisdom…Always look on the sunny side, think before you act, and don’t eat the yellow snow. :-)

As a special thanks for checking in, RoseAnn is giving away a $25 Amazon Gift Card to a random commenter on her book tour. You can ask RoseAnn a question or just leave a comment--and you can see the other stops on her tour here.

Before you go, though, here's a little bit about RoseAnn and her book:

RoseAnn DeFranco grew up in upstate NY with her nose in a book and a song in her heart. Following the pursuit of a musical theatre career in NYC, she turned her creative energy to writing romance. RoseAnn blogs about her writing experiences with her critique partners at www.TheVioletFemmes.com. A NJ shore transplant, she enjoys time spent at the beach with her family. She would love to one day live in a quaint shore town like the fictional town Audubon Springs from her BROTHERS OF AUDUBON SPRINGS series. More information about these Contemporary Romantic Comedies can be found at www.radefranco.com and you can socialize with RoseAnn on Facebook and Twitter.

When Emma Grant returns to her family's Audubon Springs beach house to fulfill the stipulations of her father's will, she has every intention of forcing her former lover out of the house for good. She's never fit into her wealthy family and would prefer avoiding her past, but with her brother threatening to reveal her young daughter, she has no choice.

Rafe Iuliano has other plans. The wealthy Grants tried to bribe him out of Emma's life years ago, but he's determined to prove once and for all that a master carpenter is worthy of Emma and the house.

Their ridiculous and steamy battle for the house reignites the love and passion that bloomed between them years ago. But when Rafe discovers she's kept their daughter a secret for two years, can he overcome anger and pride to claim his family and the love of his life, or will the deception drive a final wedge between them?

A Self-Indulgent Interview

Hey, folks!  I'm ba-a-a-a-ck!

I once read an interview that contained “questions” I adored.  (Actually, they weren’t so much questions as fill in the blank type statements, but you get the gist.)  I’ve always thought I’d love for someone to interview me in this style, and to date, as lucky as I’ve been to be interviewed by some wonderful journalists and bloggers, I haven’t yet gotten to answer these particular questions.  So, since it’s a party here at the Pavilion, I’m going to self-indulge a bit and share with you my answers to the interview I’ve always wanted.  Here we go!

I write…
thrillers and suspense, usually things much more gory than my grandmother would've been  comfortable with.

The first book I ever read and loved was…
Totally Disgusting by Bill Wallace.  It might not actually be the first book I ever read and loved, but it was the first one to come to mind, so it obviously made a huge impression.

I wouldn't be where I am today without…
my parents and my husband

Books are to life what…
salt is to food- the best kind of addition that makes everything better!

Every child should be required to read…
different things until they find out what they like.  Then, they should read that!
I can't write if…
I have so many things on my to-do list that I'm distracted by them.
In another life I would have been…
a cat.
I'd never have become a writer if I hadn't read…
the Ramona Quimby series and the Goosebumps series

The best book I've read in a long while was…
Sing You Home by Jodi Picoult
The worst book I've ever read was…
The Thomas Berryman Number by James Patterson.  I love me some James, but this was a HUGE "miss" for me.  I kept reading, thinking at some point it would get better, but unfortunately, I never got caught up in it.

When I'm not writing I…
am usually really frustrated.

I'm at my most contented when…
I've written, blogged, and been indulgent in social media on a given day so that I can have plenty of family time without worrying I’ve dropped a ball somewhere.

I'm at my most discontented when…
the people I love are out of touch or I'm out of touch with them.

My favourite hero of fiction is…
Albus Dumbledore

My favourite hero in real life is…
my husband, David
My most treasured possession is…
My video camera or my laptop- tough tossup.

My greatest extravagance is...
staying in nice hotel rooms when I travel.  I'm a bit of a hotel snob.

The best advice I ever got was…
It's true that good things come to those who wait, but it's also true that the better things come to those who get off their lazy cans and do something about it.

The 3 authors I would most like to invite for a dinner…
R.L. Stine, Lisa Gardner, and J.K. Rowling

If my house was on fire, I would save…
My family (including my pets), my laptop, and my video camera

Part 2 of this interview coming soon, so stay tuned!  And don't forget to comment on any of my posts today to be entered for a chance to win the Chain of Command messenger bag.  You can comment as much as you'd like, but only one comment per post will put your name in the bowl for the drawing.  So if you comment on all four posts, you will have four chances to win!  Be sure to follow me on Twitter or Facebook, since I will be announcing the winner of the giveaway there.  Here are the links:

A FEW MINUTES WITH BRENDA GAYLE

Tell us a little about your upcoming release.
My release is a short story, entitled Father of the Bride? It's a contemporary romance set revolving around a wedding in the Caribbean. The heroine or hero are neither the bride nor the groom.

Can you give us a one-sentence synopsis of your book?
She never expected to see her ex again, but at their son's wedding he's father of the bride.

Where did the idea for the book come from?
I read an article about high school sweathearts who reunited later in life. The first line of Father of the Bride? is almost a direct quote from the woman in the article: You are not supposed to meet the love of your life when you're twelve. For some reason that quote stuck with me.

I had just handed in the manuscript for the second book of my contemporary romantic suspense and was looking for a small project as a break before I started working on the third book. My editor, the incomparable Maggie Johnson, told me about a call for submissions The Wild Rose Press had issued for a new digital anthology it was putting together focusing on weddings and older heroines (not necessarily the bride). The story just fell into place.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
I generally write full-length novels (about 90,000 words). This short story clocks in at about 16,000 words and it took me two weeks to complete the first draft. I then spent a month layering and revising it before submitting it to my editor.

If this were a movie, who would you choose to play your hero and heroine?
The tall blond-haired, blue-eyed,
all American Tim Robbins
would be fantastic as David Parker.
Dana Delany would make
a wonderful Penny Malloy.

Can you tell us something else about your book that might pique readers' interest?
I have difficulty writing a straight-up romance. I'm always looking to add some element of suspense or a twist to surprise the reader. Father of the Bride? is no exception.

Father of the Bride? is currently available for Kindle at http://www.amazon.com/Father-Bride-Dearly-Beloved-ebook/dp/B009M6XO4C and will be released to the rest of the world January 23.

A Visit with Jonah Pigg from Protecting His Wolfe by Melissa Keir

Hello everyone.  My name is Jonah Pigg.  Of course my name gets a lot of attention.  I'm a police officer.  Tell me that you haven't heard how police are called pigs.  But to make matters worse, I have two younger brothers.  Yep. We are the three Piggs. I've been taking care of my brothers for most of my life.  Family is very important to me. My brothers and I own and run a detective agency.  I'm more of the silent partner because police work is my passion.  There is nothing like being able to protect others and convict the bad guys.

That's how I met Betsie Wolfe.  She'd found a dead body and was the only witness to the murder.  Now someone was out to get her and it's my job to keep her safe.  I'll never forget that first time I saw her.  She was huddled in a blanket, clearly in shock, yet her beauty shown through.  I think it was her strong determination and will to do what was right and stand on her own two feet that made me fall in love with her.  No matter what was thrown at her, she always stood firm on her moral convictions.  She didn't like to rely on anyone but we all have to get help sometimes.

I'm not going to spoil the story for you but Protecting His Wolfe is a suspensful, sexy tale about love and danger.  Check it out today!

P.S. Protecting His Wolfe will be released this month from Rebel Ink Press and be available at various retailers.  Check out www.melissakeir.com for more information.

Interview with Lissa Vincent, my heroine from Second Time's the Charm by Melissa Keir

Obviously Lissa heard that I was talking with Alex today and wanted to get in on the action.  She wanted to sit down right away which meant me coming to her house since she has her two sons this weekend.  I loved watching them play video games- (sarcastic tone).

1.      Lissa, thanks for having me over. I’m sure the readers would love to get to know you so can you tell us three words best describing you? Thank you for having me visit today.  I’m so excited to have a moment to myself!  Three words that describe me… obviously Mom, and if you ask the boys, they would say nag (sometimes it is the only thing that gets them to pick up their rooms), and caring.
2.      I understand you’re divorced.  What can you tell us about your ex-husband, Steve? I thought Steve was my prince charming but when we were dating, we were both young and immature.  As we got older, we grew apart.  That was probably my fault. I spent a lot of time on the boys.  They were my life.  Steve became very angry with me and then began to spend more time out with his friends from work.  He is a wonderful dad but he just wasn’t the man for me.  He made me feel very unattractive and even teased me about my insecurities.

3.      You’re a mother of two boys.  What’s the favorite thing you like to do with your sons for fun? We love to throw the football around the yard when the weather permits.  It is fun spending time with the boys.  Something is always happening.  Last week, we built the giant Star Wars’ Lego Millennium Falcon ship and played with them for hours.
4.       What attracted you to Alex in the first place? The thing that attracted me about Alex was what a great father he was.  He was there for his son when he was in the hospital and never put his ex-wife down.  Of course, he made me feel like I was the most beautiful woman in the world and the most important person in his life.

5.       Are you afraid of committing to another relationship? I am nervous about another relationship.  I was married for a long time and Steve really messed with my self-esteem.  I also know the statistics, second marriages don’t have a great track record.  We are going to have a lot to work through as we blend a family.  But I love Alex and know that he is the perfect man for me.
6.     What is your favorite guilty pleasure? My favorite guilty pleasure is a bubble bath.  I love to indulge in that girly pleasure, soft lights and music playing softly.  I love to have those few moments to myself to escape from the daily stresses of being a working mom.

7.      Describe what you would consider the ultimate romantic evening. An ultimate romantic evening is a night out with my love.  We would have a delicious dinner at an intimate restaurant, then head out for a play at a local theater, followed by some passion back home.
8.      Do you dictate your story to your author or does she control what happens? I dictated my story.  Poor Melissa just had to go along for the ride.  Now the only thing that I have to complain about is that some things had to be cut, like one of Steve’s tirades.  I really wanted to show what Steve put me through.
9.       Let’s talk about your job.  Tell us what you do for a living and if you love it or hate it? Did you choose it? I’m a receptionist at a local pediatrician’s office.  I love being able to help families, especially when they are stressed about their child’s illness.   I went back to work when things started getting difficult at home.  I wanted to find something that would allow me to feel worthwhile.  Cold and Flu season keeps me busy but I love being around children.
10.   Can you name a song that is “yours”, that describes how you feel about yourself or your love? Or if not a song, a movie!  I love the song “When All is Said and Done” from the Mama Mia soundtrack.  The song makes me think about how Alex and I have faced a life and are together now. We aren’t to blame for the past but are going to look to the future, together.

Thank you for coming over today.  I wanted to get a chance to share my side of the story and hope everyone will check out my story and see just how Alex and I found love.  After all, would you date your best friend’s ex-husband?

Second Time's the Charm:
How does a middle aged, divorcee with two children find her way back to love after a devastating divorce leaves her with no self confidence and no faith in love? Lissa's ex-husband has shredded her self-esteem so she's thrown herself into her children and her work, leaving time for nothing else.

When an life threatening illness in her best friend's family puts Lissa on the path to romance, Lissa finds new love in a most unexpected way--an introduced by her new guy's ex-wife.

Who knew that first time loves could lead to second chances?

An Interview with Alex Hunter from Second Time's the Charm by Melissa Keir

I hope you enjoy my recent interview with Alex Hunter.  He is the hero of my story, Second Time's the Charm.  He can do mean things with a candy bar and looks like a military man with his short buzz cut and strong shoulders.  After hearing about some of his less than stellar features from his ex-wife, I wasn't too sure I wanted to be alone with him but he quickly put me at ease. Here's the interview:

M: Hello Mr. Hunter.  Welcome.  I’m excited to sit down and talk with you about your recent love story.  Can I call you Alex?

A: Thank you Melissa.  Feel free to call me Alex.  I’m also looking forward to people hearing more about my sweetheart, Lissa.  She is amazing.  I couldn’t believe that I had been hoping to meet her for about six months before fate brought us together.

M: What do you love about Lissa?

A: Lissa is a kind and caring person.  She wouldn’t harm a fly.  Her children are first in her life.  She is an outstanding mother.  I don’t like how Steve, her ex, treats her.  He brow-beats her and puts her down.  Would you believe that he calls her daily to complain about how she is raising the boys?

M: That sounds frustrating. I can’t imagine how hard it must be for her.  How did you and Lissa meet?

A: Lissa is best friend’s with my ex-wife, Chloe.  They work together at a local pediatrician’s office.  Chloe has been talking about Lissa for a long time.  When Chloe told me that Lissa was going through a divorce, I wanted to reach out to her but wasn’t sure that she would be interested in hearing from me.  I was sure that Chloe had shared a lot of our issues with her.  Isn’t that what best friend’s do?  I was positive Lissa had a skewed image of me.  But when Joe, my son was taken to the emergency room with possible meningitis, Lissa was the one who called me to let me know.  When I saw her sitting in that ugly waiting room, I couldn’t believe how beautiful she was and couldn’t take my eyes off her.

M: What is the most romantic night you’ve had with Lissa?

A: I pulled out the stops the one night with dinner at my place.  I had candles lit and soft music playing.  The food was amazing and it was the night that I wanted to show Lissa just how much she meant to me.  Everything was designed for a night of passion.

M: You mentioned that you have a secret sweet tooth.  What is your favorite dessert?

A: Chocolate is my favorite.  When Joe was in the hospital, I had gotten a couple of candy bars.  The chocolate was melting on my fingers and I could only imagine licking the chocolate off Lissa’s body.  When she came to Joe’s party, she brought her special recipe brownies.  It was then and there that I knew she was the woman for me!

M: Did you have any worries about getting married again, especially with the divorce rate being so high for second marriages?

A: Yes, I had fears.  My largest fear was bringing the boys together.  I was pleased that they were already such good friends and loved spending time together but becoming a blended family is tough.  There are now only two parents involved but in this case, we have four sets of parents involved.  Chloe and Steve will be a part of our relationship because they are the boys’ parents.  They may not always agree with us on our choices and compromise will be important.

M: I wish you all the best with a blended family.  I understand that the benefits do outweigh the challenges but it will take work.  Thank you for coming by today to share with us about your relationship with Lissa and your life.  Is there anything else you would like to share?

A: I want everyone to read my romance tale of love. Afterall, Melissa you did spend a lot of time and energy to bring out story to life. I know we sort of took over your brain for awhile. At least you have it back to your self now.  I have to ask the readers…  Would you have taken a chance on dating your best friend’s ex-husband?  I am certainly glad that Lissa did.  Second Time’s the Charm is available at Bookstrand, All Romance, Amazon and Barnes and Noble for only $1.99.  Pick it up today!

Interview With Shiloh Beck from Sloane Wolf

Here is an interview empath Shiloh Beck did with author Kay Dee Royal:

KDR ~ Welcome Shiloh Beck, star of Sloane Wolf, a paranormal romance story. First let me say I’ve read your story and think Margay did an excellent creative job with it. I’m sure you feel the same about it…hopefully she got all the details right.

Please tell us a bit about your abilities.

I wish I could. Sometimes, I don’t understand them myself. All I know for sure is I can sense what others are feeling. Whatever they feel, I feel, to. Sometimes, I can even see the images in their minds – if I let myself. The Institute was trying to teach me how to turn that outward – to reverse the process, so to speak, and inflict certain feelings upon other people – but I don’t like talking about that.

KDR ~ Can you explain what The Institute is?

I’m not sure what, exactly, The Institute is. To me, it’s the place where I grew up, the place that kept me from my family. It’s the place where others like me are brought to cultivate our “gifts,” so we can learn how to live in the outside world with people who aren’t gifted. Funny thing is, none of us are allowed out into the outside world, so we never truly learn to adapt.

KDR ~ Tell us about Micah Stone. He seems a bit egotistical…or should I say, somewhat bossy.

You can say whatever you like because you’re right – on both points. Micah is somewhat bossy, but I guess he has good reason to be with a family like his. Someone has to keep his siblings in check and since he’s the oldest…let’s just say he takes that whole “leader of the pack” thing a bit too literal sometimes. As for egotistical, yes, I suppose he is, but have you seen him? I mean, really, the guy has good reason – but don’t tell him I said that. He’s hard enough to deal with as it is!

KDR ~ Can you give us a brief description of Sloane’s family?

I can try! Should I start from the top? Damon and Dara are just the most wonderful people you’d ever want to meet. Kind, caring, and very close to their children – all of their children. Aunt Reba…I don’t really know a lot about her, but she’s kind of intimidating. I wouldn’t want to cross her. You already know about Micah. So on to Cam. He’s a bit of a hothead, but when it comes right down to it, you couldn’t ask for a better person to have your back. Raven is the best – everything you’d want in your best girl friend. I can’t think of adequate enough words to describe her. Loyal, intense, beautiful? Yeah, those all fit, but she’s so much more. Grayson is the quiet one so when he speaks, you really listen. He’s wise beyond his years and just as fierce and loyal as his brothers. Another good one to have at your back in a crisis. And then there’s Ava, my little darling. Yeah, she can be a pain and is so eager to grow up and be a part of things, she often gets herself into a whole lot of trouble, but she really is a good kid. I think that covers them all.

KDR ~ So what was it like meeting Micah for the first time?

Hmm, it was…interesting. I mean, he’s so good looking, you kind of feel like he can’t possibly be real. So when we first met, I have a feeling I wasn’t very coherent! And he noticed, which made it more embarrassing. I think I stared a lot, too. Ugh. But then he turned on the arrogant attitude, so it kind of broke the spell a little.

KDR ~ What attracted you to the Massachusetts area?

It’s home. I’ve always lived in the state and, really, with the changing seasons and all, why would I want to live anywhere else?

KDR ~ I loved the ending of this book, but there’s more to your story, Shiloh. Would you give us a little heads up on what we can expect next?

You’d like that, wouldn’t you? I’ve heard how eager you are to know more! Let’s just say that, ever since I ended up in the hospital after the confrontation with Jon, I’ve been having a lot of strange dreams. But the thing is…they’re not my dreams. They’re someone else’s.

KDR ~ So tell us Shiloh, how is it to work with Margay? Did she do a good job of telling your story as it happened OR was she attempting to embellish it all?

Sometimes it’s scary how close she gets to the truth of things. I’ve tried my best to keep it to myself – sometimes knowledge is dangerous, you know – but she has a way of pulling it out of you. She’s relentless. She won’t stop until she gets to the bottom of things and that kind of makes me worry where this might all lead. I know the Institute isn’t done with me – the Enforcer is still alive, after all, so I know he’ll be back – and I don’t think I’ve seen the end of the black wolf, either. He’s connected to me in some mysterious, familiar way, and I know Margay won’t stop until she knows everything. I just hope she knows what she’s in for. It’s not wise to tangle with the Institute. And embellish? Oh, no. I think she downplayed it.

KDR ~ Where can we find Margay Leah Justice ~ we know where ever she is, you’ll be lurking nearby. Please give us Margay’s links & buy pages.

Well, aren’t you the little detective! Are you taking lessons from Margay? I suppose I’ll have to be on my guard with you, too. I’ll add you to the list with Raven, Ava and Margay!

Oh, okay, here are some of her favorite haunts (see I know about her, too):

Get to know Drew and Skylar better from Fool Me Once

I thought I would share a fun interview between my characters and I from the first book in the Hot Bods series, Fool Me Once. (Available Now)

Lacey: Thank you so much for having us here today. I’m really glad that Skylar and Drew have taken time out of their lives to let me interview them.

Skylar: I don’t mind, today was boot camp day. That day is starting to become my least favorite at Hot Bods Gym.

Drew: Anytime I’m out of the office is a good day in my book.

Lacey: So tell me Drew, has Skylar forgiven you yet for leaving her alone after that hot weekend and never calling?

Drew: **Rolls eyes at Lacey** Did you really have to bring that up? I hope **turns to Skylar** that she has. I think I’ve done everything I could to show her just how much I love her and I never want to hurt her again.

Skylar: **Squeezes his hand** You have.

Drew: Good. **Gives her a light kiss on the cheek**

Lacey: Okay, let’s cut that out. I know exactly where one simple kiss between you two can lead. Are there any plans in the future to moving in together?

Skylar: We’ve talked about it, but I’m not sure. I don’t want to leave my BFF Amy hanging. She has had no luck finding Mr. Right. Hopefully she does soon though. But for now, we just have sleepovers and it seems to be working. We get alone time when we need it. We have our entire lives to figure out a wedding date and all that other stuff.

Lacey: So, is it official yet?

Drew and Skylar: Maybe

Lacey: I think it takes a special man to be able to deal with your feistiness Skylar. Is Drew the one who can?

Skylar: God, he better. We’ve been through way too much for him to not. Don’t you think Lacey?

Lacey: Oh yeah. Drew you better not ditch and run again.

Drew: That is the last thing on my mind.

Skylar: It better be!

Lacey: Does Francesca still come to Hot Bods?

Skylar: Really Lacey, you have to bring her up? **Rolls eyes** Yes she does. But we keep our distance. I suppose when your under contract with a gym it isn’t exactly simple to just find a new one. She hasn’t taken any of my classes. She is typically in the cardio area when I see her.

Lacey: Do you see her Drew?

Drew: Uh…not on purpose. She is a nice girl, really. Just needs a little guidance.

Skylar: You’re not the one to be giving it to her.

Drew: I know. Lacey, can we change the subject to something else?

Lacey: Sure. Sorry about putting you in the hot seat. How about we get this over by you telling me what your favorite thing about the other one is. Drew, you first.

Drew: I love everything about Skylar. She’s perfect. She is beautiful, speaks her mind—even when its directed toward me. Skylar will help any friend in need. And for whatever reason, she puts up with me and loves me. I couldn’t ask for a better partner in life.

Skylar: Awe, you’re so sweet. My favorite thing about Drew is his c—, oh sorry that might be inappropriate. My favorite thing is that he always makes me feel special and like I’m the only one who matters.

Lacey: I can see by the way you two are looking at one another; you are more than ready to get out of here. So, I won’t keep you love birds. Thank you so much however for taking the time to chat with me.

Skylar: Anytime Lacey! Without you, we wouldn’t have our happily ever after.

An Interview with Blythe McLachlan

Alright, you can tell that I'm a horrible blogger.  I always have a difficult time coming up with topics, so I've decided to take a friend's advice and "interview" the heroine of my new short, "Masquerade."  Perhaps a little corny, but what better way to get to know the naughty little vixen?

***********
Blythe McLachlan walks into the Starbucks looking like a bit like an unmade bed.  Her black hair is pulled back into a messy chignon, highlighting her delicate china doll features.  At first I am intimidated by the way she barrels through the door and up to the counter to order a Caffe Americano with one sugar, but I'm soon put at ease when she offers a wide smile and a hug rather than a cold handshake.

AC:  Blythe!  You look a bit rushed this morning.

BM:  I know right?  I was so afraid that I was going to be late.  I rushed out of the house without deodorant I think!

AC:  But the important thing is that you're here.

BM:  I wouldn't have missed it.  After all, it's your fault anyway.

Blythe laughs and gives me a knowing look that leaves me no doubt as to what she's been doing to cause her tardiness.

AC:  So I take it that you're enjoying your newfound lifestyle?

BM:  Without a doubt.  In fact, I find myself wondering why I didn't discover polyamory a long time ago.

AC:  So you consider yourself polyamorous?
BM:  Most definitely.  Polyamory means having more than one intimate, loving relationship at a time with the knowledge and consent of all parties.  Will, Lucien and I have a great relationship.  I don't love either of them any more or less than the other.  We're one anothers' best friends.

AC:  So it isn't just about the sex?

BM:  Well, I admit that I was initially attracted to Lucien for purely sexual reasons.  But over time, our relationship has become so much more than just sex.  We love and support one another.

AC:  Isn't there a problem with jealousy?

BM:  I'm sure that in the beginning Will had a few pangs, but once everyone realized that no one was going to be neglected, we were able to put the jealousy behind us.  Lucien doesn't live with us, so Will and I still have somewhat of a "home turf advantage."  I think that helps because Will knows that no matter what, I'm first and foremost his wife.

AC:  Do you think that Lucien gets jealous of that?

BM:  He's mentioned us all moving in together a few times.  And I think I would like that, but I'm not sure that Will is ready for that strong of a commitment.  We haven't come out as a poly triad to most of our friends, so I think he's still a little skittish of that.  It's that sweet Southern boy mentality.  Lucien, on the other hand, is a loudmouth Yankee and doesn't give a shit about what other people think.  So Lucien may feel a little more jealous, but he understands that Will is my primary partner.

AC:  Am I allowed to ask about the sex?

BM:  You're the author.  I think you can ask pretty much whatever the Hell you want.

AC:  (laughs)  Well I assume that Will and Lucien aren't gay?

BM:  There might be two men in the world who are more self-conscious about being touched by another man, but they'd be hard to find  (laughing).  It's kind of cute, really.  When we're all in bed together, and we're going to sleep, they actually map out where they're going to put their hands to be sure that they aren't going to accidentally fondle one another in the night.

AC:  There must be something comforting about lying between two men at night.

BM:  I highly recommend it to every woman.  You'll never sleep better than you do with one man cuddling you from the front, breathing softly against your hair while the other one curls up behind you, wrapping his arms around your waist and letting you lean against his chest.  I used to get cold at night, but not anymore.  Lucien's like having a bonfire in bed with you.  I always tease him that I could roast marshmallows on his ass.

AC:  One last thing.  I have to ask you about the double penetration thing.  Is it really possible?

BM:  I could never reveal all my secrets, Lexxx.

Blythe gives me a wink and a mischiveous little smile that tells me she won't be revealing all her intimate details with me.  But then again, I'm the author and already know anyway.

So what are you waiting for??  Make sure you comment and leave an email addy so I can choose that lucky winner.  "Masquerade" will be hitting AllRomance Ebooks, Bookstrand, B&N.com and Amazon on December 17th!

News, Reviews and Interviews by Lucy Felthouse

I recently edited my second anthology, and it is now available in eBook and paperback format. Seducing the Myth has been available since early August, and like most authors/editors, I eagerly awaited feedback and reviews. And over the past few days, I've been inundated! Most excitingly, they're all extremely positive:

“Overall I have to say I was pretty pleased with this anthology. The stories were on the fairly short side, but were by in large really hot. Not all of them ended happily, some of the authors chose to stick closely to the ending of the original myth or tale (The True Folly of Icarus by Saskia Walker for instance) and there were some surprises (The Lady of the Flowers is based on a Welsh legend) amongst the normally re-imagine Greek/Roman mythology. And happiest of most I found a few new authors to pick up and try!” 4 out of 5, Night Owl Reviews

“Seducing the Myth will seduce your mind with the hot tales of love and lust contained within its mesmerizing pages… Overall this is an interesting and varied collection with a variety of tales, a true cornucopia of endings, beginnings and middles with lots of lusty passion, tantalizing intrigue and witty charm to keep you coming back time and time again to dip into this treasure trove and pull out a fresh gem.” 5 out of 5, Erotic Whispers

“A collection of short stories filled with erotic intent with tons of mystical creatures this book is a great read! I found myself reading each story in earnest and wanting more and more. This collection was expertly put together to entice you into a whole new world that was enjoyable to read! If you are looking for a great collection of short stories that leaves you wanting more this book is totally for you.” 4 out of 5, Judging The Book By Its Pages

Naturally, myself and the other authors are delighted! Thanks guys, I couldn't have done it without you!

Bag yourself a copy of Seducing the Myth here.

Now, where are these interviews I spoke of, you may be wondering. Well, they're not here. It was a hint of what's to come. October is a very busy month for me, both in terms of releases (four!) and guest blog posts and interviews (I've lost count!). However, if you keep an eye on the sidebar of my website, the dates and URLs will be there so you can check out my other appearances, and many of them will also have competitions, so don't miss out! Also, as we speak I'm away on holiday with no computer or internet access, but don't let that stop you leaving me comments. I'll check in when I'm back!
