Romance Trading Cards

Last year, some very creative writers came up with the idea to make trading cards for romance novels - similar to baseball cards. The idea took off like a brush fire. I have to admit, it's fun to get a glimpse of the characters, and see how many cards I can collect.

I've had a lot of fun working with the greatest graphics person I know, Talina Perkins of Bookinit Designs, to create the cards for my books. Of course, the most fun is finding images for the heroes. <grin>

Click on the link to see the card for my new release, STILL TAKING CHANCES.

I'd love to send you one for your collection! Email  your snail mail address to me at authorrozlee at gmail dot com.

STILL TAKING CHANCES by Roz Lee

Here's a glimpse at my new Femme-domme novella that released yesterday!!

After a mission in a South American jungle goes wrong, DEA Agent Elgin ‘Hud’ Huddleston returns to his boyhood home to lick his wounds. Despite his better judgment, Hud is drawn to the woman across the street, a petite Dominatrix with a freeze your balls off name.

Mary Beth Winters packed away her toys and put the BDSM lifestyle behind her years ago when she realized the men she dominated didn’t need her as much as she needed them. But when a troubled bad-boy, Elgin ‘Hud’ Huddleston, moves in across the street, she dusts off her toy box and risks her heart to help him heal.

Here's an Excerpt -
Her eyes raked over him and he had the impression she was mentally undressing him as thoroughly as he’d undressed her in his mind. Something about her perusal made him want to squirm, but he held still. “Do you always wear black?”

“Yes, Mistress.” Yeah, he could play this game. She jumped off the high stool she’d been sitting on, and walked around the worktable. He followed her with his eyes, admiring the curve of her legs and the fine bones in her feet and ankles. She stopped and dug around in a large pink canvas bag that sat on the end of the flower-print covered sofa along the long wall opposite the door. His heart almost stopped  beating when she pulled out a serious looking set of leather handcuffs and a length of chain. Whoa there! Where the hell did she get those? All the fight went out of him.
“Hold out your hands.”
Hud allowed her to fasten the cuffs around his wrists. She hooked them together with a short length of chain that looked like it came from a hardware store. If he twisted his hands around, he’d be able to unfasten the cuffs, he reasoned, as panic threatened to set in. He was momentarily distracted by the sweet curves of her ass as she walked away from him. She picked up a step stool and dropped it next to his feet. “Take your shoes off.”
He toed his shoes off and kicked them to the side. When he looked up from his task, Mary Beth was on the step stool, a head above him. In one hand, she held an S hook attached to a chain and pulley, the other she reached down to him. “Give me your hands.”
Hud swallowed hard and lifted his shackled hands. For the first time, he thought he might have underestimated Mary Beth Winters. She looped the chain at his wrists through the hook, and with a hand on the pulley chain, she jumped off the stool. Hud watched in dawning horror as she pulled the chain tight enough to make his shoulders burn and secured the pulley chain to a hook on the wall, well out of his reach even if he had his hands free. He cursed under his breath. How had he missed the chain pulley overhead? If he’d been on a mission, a mistake like that would mean he’d be dead.

The Personal Grooming Dilemma by Roz Lee

There are as many euphemisms for it as there are opinions on the subject. Mowing the lawn. Landscaping. Removing the carpet and putting down hardwood floors. Whatever you call it, personal grooming has never been less personal.

Honestly, it seems like everyone is talking about it these days. I remember being a teenager watching television with my older brother, and wishing the floor would open up and swallow me when a tampon or feminine pad commercial came on. Nothing much has changed in that respect. I still want to get my hands on the remote when those commercials come on, but at least now, the men have reason to squirm too. Women are finally getting their payback with the erectile dysfunction cures.

I particularly enjoy the commercial where the macho cowboy type is on his way home, horse trailer in tow. He uses the horses to pull his truck out of some muck, then continues on his way. Yeah, this guy is a problem solver, just like the product they’re hawking. The guy arrives home, all the windows in his house are aglow, he smiles, and we know he’s solved that other problem – and now he’s going to get some. At least I understand this one, I’m still trying to figure out the one with the man and woman holding hands while they sit in separate bathtubs watching the sunset. Maybe they’re waiting for the sun to rise?? *grins*

Advertisements for female grooming are less subtle. Take this razor commercial for instance – A series of women walk or run past plants (bushes, if you will). As these women pass by, the shapeless (wild, if you will) plants, morph into topiaries that are reminiscent of well-groomed female genitalia. Who among you find this as ridiculous as I do? This has to be the work of men. Only men would think to use actually bushes to represent – well, bushes. Women wouldn’t think it necessary to hit us over the head with the obvious pruning capabilities of their newest hedge clippers. Women know how to mow the lawn. We can edge the sidewalk and prune the bushes just fine, thank you very much.

It’s always a challenge to decide what kind of landscaping a character will go for. It’s a matter of personal style, and as we all know, that stems from our individual personalities. In the first book in my Lothario Series, THE LUST BOAT, Candace goes in for a little floor waxing. Here’s an excerpt:

Candace blushed. She wasn’t used to sharing confidences with other women, but Fallon knew more about her than her gynecologist did, she reasoned. “Fine. Except I want to seduce him and I don’t know how. I just left the erotic dance class. I’m afraid I don’t have the coordination to try half of what the instructor showed us.”

“Hmmm.” Fallon took her by the elbow and steered her away. “You haven’t made love yet?”

“Uhm, no, not really. We’ve been, uhm, close, but not that close, if you know what I mean.”

“I think I do. You want to seduce Ryan so he’ll make love to you?”

“Uhm hmm. He’s been so wonderful, making sure I have all the pleasure. I want to return the favor, but I don’t have a clue how to go about it.”

“I think I can help you with that. Come on, let’s get you to the spa. We’ll go shopping when you’re done there.”

A few minutes later, Candace bit her lower lip and gripped the sides of the table as the technician yanked the wax strip off. Step one of Fallon’s plan included a complete wax job on her pussy, followed by the application of a crystal tattoo.

“Which is it going to be,” the technician asked, “the heart or the starburst?”

“I like the heart.” Candace said.

Fallon looked up from her magazine. “Why don’t you put his initials inside the heart?”

“That would be cute. He’d surely get the message.”

“I can do that. What are his initials?” the girl asked as she sorted out the crystals she would need.

“Just put an R,” Candace said. No way was she going to admit she didn’t know Ryan’s last name. What would Fallon think of her if she knew she planned on seducing, and making love, to a man she didn’t know well enough to know his last name?

“R it is.” The girl tapped her finger on Candace’s tender skin. “How about right here, a little off center? I can make the initial sort of wispy, if you want.”

Candace studied the drawing the girl scribbled on a note pad. “I like it.” She lay back while the girl drew the same design on her skin in a connect-the-dots manner, each dot representing one crystal. Fallon helped take her mind off the girl gluing tiny glass dots on her mound by planning the rest of Ryan’s seduction.

“We’ll get you something scandalous at the gift shop, and we’ll arrange for dinner to be served in your room.” She named off a menu of finger food items, things easy for lovers to feed each other. “Do you think you can get Ryan to come to your room?”

“I think so. I’ll ask him to escort me to dinner, and when he arrives I’ll tell him dinner is served.”

Fallon clapped her hands and laughed. “This is so much fun! I haven’t done anything this exciting in years.”

“Thanks for helping me. I really appreciate it. When the dancing thing fell through, I didn’t think I would be able to pull it off.”

“There, all done.”

Candace sat up on her elbows and looked at her new body art in the hand held mirror. It did look cute, all sparkly, and feminine.

“I love it and I’m sure Ryan will too.”

To groom or not to groom…that is the question. Here’s a tidbit from LOVE ME TWICE, the third book in the Lothario Series, where Celeste has chosen a style more in keeping with her personality.

Drew moved away from the railing and dropped into a chair. Cold wire mesh bit into his bare ass beneath the short wrap. Crew comfort wasn’t a high priority, obviously. He considered going to the passenger decks where the comfortable deck chairs lived, but that would mean seeing people, possibly the two people he was determined to avoid for the next eleven hours and nine minutes. Not that he was counting.

He raised his arm to run his hand through his hair, but a sharp twinge in his shoulder brought him up short. Images came to mind—Bree’s hands wrapped around his forearms, hanging on as he drove into her. Her head thrown back as she absorbed him into her body. The thatch of fire-red curls between her legs. The first time he’d seen her naked, those curls had been the equivalent of a red flag in a bullring. He could appreciate a neatly trimmed mound, but the wild, natural look Bree sported, turned him into an animal.

Shit. What was he doing thinking of her again? And wanting her? He’d had her twice, and she’d been two different women each time. Soft and compliant the first time. Wild, and out of control tonight. If he had her again, would she morph yet again?

He rubbed the sore spot on his shoulder. This couldn’t happen again, no matter what his cock had to say about it.

Women are not helpless, or dumb. If we want hardwood floors, we’ll darn well take up the carpet on our own. And, if we need some power tools to get the job done, we’re perfectly capable of figuring out which ones to use.

What do you think about the Personal Grooming Dilemma? I'd love to hear your take on the subject!

LOVE ME TWICE - Excerpt

Here's a little sample from LOVE ME TWICE, the third book in the Lothario Series. Five years ago, Celeste left Sean and Drew behind rather than choose between them. Now that they've found her, she isn't getting away again.

“You and your associate can relax and enjoy your vacation, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Drew and I will take care of this.”

At the sound of Sean’s voice, she turned to face him. She knew as soon as he said he was in charge that he meant it literally.

“What exactly do you mean by that? If you think I’m going to buy into the theme of this ship while you do your spook thing, you have another think coming.” She wasn’t ready to relinquish her duties to a couple of former spooks, even if they were more than that to her.

Sean’s eyes darted to Drew again, and then came to rest on her. Premonition tingled along her nape and shivered down her spine. They were up to something, and she’d bet her best vibrator, the lifelike one that reminded her of Sean, that she wasn’t going to like it.

She was right.

“You owe us a decision.”

Just like that, the conversation shifted from business to personal.

“You just heard my decision.” She made one last attempt to grab the wheel and regain control before the mutiny was successful.

“Don’t act as if you don’t understand, Celeste. The business decision has been made. Drew is in charge of security. The decision we want is a personal one.”

Querido Dios. Her heart lurched and sank to her toes like an anchor. Five years ago, he’d asked for a decision, the same one she was sure he was going to demand now. She made the only decision possible then, she’d run away. Apparently, all she’d done was postpone the inevitable.

“You can’t be serious.” The words were barely a whisper.

“He is.” Drew’s soft voice came from a spot not a foot behind her. He’d moved without her noticing. Both of them were capable of moving like ghosts, hardly disturbing the air around them. For a spy it was a good trait, but in a civilian, it was unnerving.

“Don’t get in a snit. You don’t have to decide today.” Sean said it as if it was perfectly logical, when they all knew there was nothing logical about this.

“Well, that’s good.” Stall. Her mind whirled with possible escape scenarios. Short of jumping ship though, she couldn’t come up with a single one.

“You ran away five years ago so you wouldn’t have to decide between us. The way we figure it, you have a whole week, well six days if you don’t count the day we dock. We’re reasonable men. We know you need current information in order to make a decision, so this is what we’re going to do.”

Celeste folded her arms across her chest and locked her knees. As long as the ship didn’t make any sudden moves, she might remain upright. Sean’s face gave away none of the emotion she knew lurked beneath the surface. She’d hurt him when she left without explanation. He didn’t have to tell her that.

“You get to spend two days with each of us, alternating. We’ll toss a coin to see who goes first. That’s only fair, don’t you think?”

She couldn’t think. Too much information. Too many feelings. Too many memories. Too many needs. She hovered on the edge of something. Something dangerous…and seductive.

“Uh.”

“Good, you agree.”

“Wait!” She found her voice, and a small portion of her brain began to function. “That’s only four days. What about the other two days?” She couldn’t believe she asked that when she should have been raging at the two of them for their macho, high-handed, lunatic plan.

“The fifth day is shore day. We’ll spend it together, the three of us.”

Her mind and body flashed to another time they’d spent together. They’d believed it was the end, but it had turned out only to be the beginning, of the end. The end had been a long time coming, but she could see it clearly now, six days away.

“On the sixth day, we expect you to choose. Neither one of us is willing to let you walk out of our lives again.”

Her knees shook, and her hands were clammy. “What if I don’t want either one of you? It’s been five years. Maybe my feelings have changed.” Like hell, they have.

“They haven’t.” Drew’s breath fanned across her nape. When had he gotten that close? Damn. This wasn’t good. Not good at all.

“You want one of us, or both, right now.” Sean had always been observant, and blunt. “I can see it in your eyes.” He inhaled deeply. “Your body betrays you.”

Merde.

“Let’s flip a coin and see who gets her first.” Drew stepped between her and Sean. He pulled a coin from his pocket and turned it so she could see it had two distinct sides. Neither one of them were cheaters. Small consolation.

“Heads, I get her. Tails, you do.”

Sean nodded his agreement. Drew flipped the coin in the air and caught it as it spun downward on its invisible axis.

Celeste watched in fascinated horror as the two men she loved flipped a coin for her as if she was a carnival prize. Drew’s hand closed over the coin, and she jumped as he slapped it on the back of his outstretched arm. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. One by one, Drew peeled his fingers away. Then he lifted his hand to reveal the coin, gleaming silver against his sun-bronzed skin. Sean sat forward, and Drew leaned toward him.

Drew scowled.

Sean grinned.

It took less than a few seconds, but it seemed her life passed before her eyes. God help her. They were right. She did want this.

LOVE ME TWICE - Release Party!

Hi! It's so nice to meet you! I'm Roz Lee, and I write contemporary erotic romance. Whew! Glad the confession is out of the way!

It seems like just the other day I was nervously pitching my idea for a series of books about an erotic themed cruise ship. I’d written the first book, THE LUST BOAT, and had a good start on the second one, SHOW ME THE ROPES. And now, here I am at the Goddess Fish Party Pavilion, celebrating the release of LOVE ME TWICE, the third book in the Lothario series.

So, how you ask, does one come up with an idea like the Lothario, the most notorious cruise ship to ever sail the Caribbean?

I can’t believe I’m telling you this…I dreamed it up while on a cruise with my family! Yep, there we were, hubby, me and our two grown daughters watching one of those variety shows where the costumes are over the top - probably because the performances aren’t - and my mind wandered. (Always a dangerous thing.) I began to wonder what it would be like if all the crew wore skimpy, revealing costumes. Pretty soon, I had the rough hull of my cruise ship, and was well on the way to shoving it out of dry dock. I spent the rest of our cruise looking at everything with a new purpose in mind. When I got back home to my computer, I shelved the manuscript I’d been working on for months, and began a new one.

I invite you to grab a fruity drink, preferably with a paper umbrella, kick back in a deck chair, and set sail on a cruise you’ll never forget!

Blurb - LOVE ME TWICE

Sean Callahan came aboard the Lothario to do his brother Ryan a favor, and ended up the man in charge when both Ryan and Richard left the ship with the women they love. The last thing he needs is a complication, and Celeste is definitely a complication. Once upon a time Celeste had been part of his team as well as his lover, but after a disaster of a mission, and the realization that the other member of his team, Drew was in love with her too, she'd disappeared. Now she’s back, and it’s high time she choose.

Some women have all the luck. Celeste just isn't one of them. All the luck she seems to have is the bad kind. How else can you explain ending up on a ship with the two men she's tried to forget for the last five years? Even worse, not a thing has changed. She still loves them both. Leaving them behind only postponed the decision she knows she has to make, and they aren’t helping any. In fact, they’re both doing everything they can to convince her to choose them. But, Celeste isn’t choosing anyone until she understands how their ménage a trios turned into a ménage gone wrong.

Next up - the book trailer for LOVE ME TWICE! Check back in a few!
