What is Holiday, Montana?

What is Holiday, Montana?
So what is Holiday, Montana and why do I keep going on and on about it? Well, that’s easy, this the name of my new series and the small town where my sexy Cooper brothers live. But it’s not just that, not by far.
Holiday, Montana is where make believe is real. Every myth you heard as a child about holidays and the characters that made it fun aren’t myths…but real. Santa, the tooth fairy, Cupid, witches, ghosts…they’re all real.
But the world doesn’t know it.
Holiday is the mecca of holiday paranormals and the Cooper brothers are in the middle of them all. Each Cooper brother will find out that the holidays aren’t as boring as they thought they were, no, they’re filled with magic.
Justin Cooper is the hero of Santa’s Executive, the second book in the series. He’s the reformed ex-bad boys who finds himself in Santa’s employ. He also finds himself falling for a sexy, bombshell elf named Rina.
So yes, it’s a Christmas story.
Complete with Santa, elves, yummy Christmas cookies and heat. Oh yes, heat.
I love the holidays—all of them, and I’m so happy to share a little bit of this world with you.
So, what’s your favorite holiday?

Santa’s Executive Blurb

Justin Cooper wasn’t always the straight-laced Holiday Elementary School principal. In his youth, he broke all the rules and enjoyed being the bad Cooper brother.  One Christmas Eve night he got a little too rowdy and things changed forever. Now the consequences of that fateful night have come back in full force and the myths of Christmas might be more real than he thought.
Rina Brewer is one of Santa’s elves. Not the tiny cute little toy maker, but the sexy, petite, energy filled bombshell kind. She’s come to Holiday to aid Justin in his new role as Santa’s executive, but as soon as she sees the sexy ex-bad boy, she realizes the job may be more than she bargained for.
As they work together to make this Christmas one to remember, an old foe has come to town to make sure that this holiday is the coldest yet.
Warning: Contains a perky elf who dreams of something more, a Christmas myth who may be a baddie, and a sexy ex-bad boy who craves Christmas cookies…and a certain perky blonde.

A Post from my heroine, Rina

Rina is here to say Hello!

So I’m one of Santa’s elves. Yes, one of those. Aren’t you curious? I’m not the little ones from the movies and cards you see. Well, I’m short, but that’s beside the point.
I’m a card carrying elf, just not the perky one.
Fine, okay, so Justin thinks I’m perky. But I can have a bad day, you know. I’m allowed to not smile and giggle.
I hate giggling.
Justin hates it too, though he thinks when I do it it’s cute.
See what I have to live with with this man? But isn’t he cute?
Yes, I’m so freaking happy right now. I’m an elf, in love with Justin Cooper, and actually get to do something with my life that has nothing to do with wrapping.
*shudders*
I hate the wrapping department.

Excerpt:

It would be totally inappropriate to want him.
But, in reality, the connection between an assistant and their executive could be an intimate one if they let it. They were sharing magic, and sometimes a connection would hold. She hadn’t thought about that when she’d come down here. Honestly, she hadn’t thought much of anything. But, she couldn’t think of any of that now. No, she had work to do.
Plus, the object of her thoughts was staring at her with an intensity that threatened to send shivers of need down her body.
“Rina?” Justin’s deep voice caught her attention, and she wanted to moan. Fruitcake, she had to get off that track. “What’s wrong? Are you still cold?”
He pulled her closer and ran his hands up and down her arms. She almost closed her eyes and leaned into his touch but resisted. Barely.
“I’m fine, just warming up.” She pulled back from his arms and tried to ignore the sudden loss. “Are you ready to go?”

Why Angels?

Angels: The Better Choice?

As most of you know, I’m a werewolf girl. You’ve read my Redwood Pack (cough) and know my love and fixation with them. I’m okay with that. I love the earthy-feel of them. The animalistic tendencies.
But now…I’m looking at something new. Something exciting. Something…angelic.
In Dust of My Wings I’m venturing out and starting a new seven book series called Dante’s Circle. Scary, right? Each book will be slight different in that I’m not just talking about one paranormal species.
Nope, I have like 20 species alone. *gasp*
But in Dust of My Wings we meet Shade, my first angel. And oh my is he swoon worthy. Well, at least to me. You’ll have to be the judge.
Why am I writing about angels? Well, it’s simple. I’ve always be been fascinated by them. Beyond the religious aspects—which in itself is immense and daunting—I’m looking at the idea that not everyone is inherently good or evil.
Sometimes we’re a mixture.
What if angels were just another race of beings with their own versions of right and wrong. They have their own culture,  leadership, and sense of justice.
And what if not all of them were good?
What if there was a faction that was trying to take over?
Shade is a warrior angel. His job is to deal out justice and take care of his people for the council of elders. The supernaturals are secret to humans. But humans aren’t quite human….
Humans aren’t as alone as they choose to believe. Every human possesses a trait of supernatural that lays dormant within their genetic make-up. Centuries of diluting and breeding have allowed humans to think they are alone and untouched by magic. But what happens when something changes?
Now, why do I love angels? Because they’re strong, and a symbol of good and peace. But is that really true? I mean the most famous angel of all was one who fell from grace after all. I think what we love about angels is the dichotomy they process. Are the good? Evil? A symbol of who we want to be?
Or are they just a species trying to get along in the world and be themselves.
It’s really up to you on how you see this. But I hope you get to see my world of angels and how they work.
Tell me, what is your favorite thing about angels? Is it their wings? Their ability to fly? Tell me.

Creating a New World with Dust of My Wings

Creating a New World

First, thank you so much for having me today. So how is the author's mind work? For me, I think of the characters in the world comes from that. Each time I created a new world, have to be consistent, but I can be as dramatic as I feel like. That's where world building comes in. Each time we create a new species have to make sure that you have their powers, characteristics, descriptions down pat. Especially when you're in a series, and a little small tidbit of knowledge that you said in chapter 2 a book 1 may actually be important in chapter 12 book 7.
In my Dante's Circle series, I have the seven book series in which I'm creating a whole new world, that is outside of my Redwood Pack world. Meaning, I had to make sure that each species and supernatural are consistent with themselves. In order to do this, I use Microsoft OneNote. Each book has a different tab and with each tab, I have serious outline character outline character descriptions and then species descriptions. And I have an overall book Bible that combines these tabs I can do a quick glance at what I need.
So unlike my Redwood Pack series in which I have demons, witches, werewolves, I have a lot more going on this time. I have angels, demons, wolf shifters, bear shifters, Fae, mermen, brownies, pixies, cats, and many, many more. And so each time I do this, I need to make sure I'm consistent with myself, and actually interesting. You don't want to have each supernatural have the same exact thing. That would get a little boring.
Now, I do use an online resource about magical beings to at least get an idea of what I wanted. But as I kept reading through the mythologies, it wasn't exactly what I wanted. So ended up taking that and evolving it into something that was my own. So yes, I do cite them, but it really wasn't my overall arc.
In my world, humans are not merely humans. They are diluted versions of supernaturals who over time forgot the meaning of magic and what goes bump in the night. But because it's still inherent in their DNA, something can make all of that change, and bring back that latent feature in and make it dominant. That's why so excited about this, because I get to go crazy and do it ever I want in my own world. As long as I'm consistent with myself. That's why I love reading fiction and paranormal books. You don't have to stick to the normal rules, but you have to stick to your own rules.
So what is it that you guys love about breaking open new worlds? What are your favorite types of supernaturals? Do you like that have the same tendencies in care services in each book by different authors? Or do you like it when an author goes off the path and makes it her own?

A Character Interview with Shade and Lily

Hi y’all! I’m Carrie Ann Ryan and I’m super excited to be here today with my characters, Lily and Shade. They’re from my latest release, Dust of My Wings. This is a new book in a new series for me!! Yep, I’m writing about angels this time. *grins* Let’s get started!

Carrie Ann: *sits in a plush arm chair across from the duo currently snuggling in the love seat* Hey, guys. I’m soo happy to see you again.

Shade: *lifts his head from Lily’s neck* It's good to see you again, Carrie Ann.

Lily: *blushes* Oh yes, thank you so much for having us here today.

Carrie Ann: Okay then, let's get started. Lily, what did you do when you found out the supernaturals were real?

Lily: Dear Lord, I was a crazy lunatic. Don’t you remember, Shade?

Shade: Grins, oh yeah, I remember, you were naked at the time.

Lily: *hits Shade in the shoulder* Really? You’re going to bring that up now?

Carrie Ann: I think I might've freaked out as well. No wait, I think I did freak out.

Lily: See? I'm not the only one.

Shade: Yeah, but I think the naked part helped.

Carrie Ann: And that's enough of that. I love how you guys interact with each other, was it always this easy?

Lily: Oh God no. When I first met him I don't think my tongue could work.

Shade: It works well now.

Lily: *turns a deep red and punches Shade in the shoulder* Really? I can't believe he just said that.

Shade: Apparently my mind is only on one thing.

Carrie Ann: I'm sure the ladies love that.

Lily: Hey! There better not be any other ladies loving that, he's mine.

Carrie Ann: I should've said Lily loves that. Sorry. *rolls her eyes*

Shade: But anyway, back to your question, it was a bit different when we met. I had to be secretive because she held my dust and that was something I needed to protect my brethren. But over time I think we got passed insecurities on both our parts.

Carrie Ann: I'm glad you did. Okay what can you tell us about the future.

Lily: Oh, I think you know more about that than we do.

Carrie Ann: *winks* very well, but why don’t you tell me what you two are planning on doing. I can figure out the others on my own.

Shade: Right now were taking it one day at a time, and getting to know each other even more.

Lily: *leans into his side* And I'm enjoying every bit of it.

Carrie Ann: Okay, now for the fun questions. Boxers or briefs?

Shade: None.

Lily: *blushes* I can attest to that.

Carrie Ann: *blushes right alongside Lily and clears her throat* What’s your favorite type of ice cream?

Shade: Strawberry, because it reminds me the taste of Lily skin.

Carrie Ann: Is it getting hot in here?

Lily: Chocolate is mine, because the decadent taste reminds me of Shade.

Carrie Ann: *shifts on her seat as the other two stare at each other* Okay, I may have to call this
interview over because you two are obviously not paying attention to me.

*silence*

Carrie Ann: On that note, I'm going to let the angel and his love swoon over each other while I answer some questions. And, if I can get their attention, I'm sure you can ask him some questions as well. Thank you so much for coming today.

Reviews for Dust of My Wings

“Reading this book was like watching an incredible new movie. Better than watching a movie, in fact. Each page turn brings humor, passionate characters (and some characters that aren’t so passionate, for sure!) and leaves the reader with a satisfaction beyond words. Five Books does not come close to doing this book justice. From werewolves to angels, Ryan knows what her readers want and just how to deliver it! I am highly anxious to read more of Dante’s Circle books, especially Ambrose’s story! Now that’s another sexy angel for another review…….oh and did I mention I adore the cover on this book? (Why are you still sitting there? Go grab a copy now!
